  • DY is the most underrated CW artist of all time. period.

  • Love that you can't see his eyes and his body barely moves, makes you focus more on his lyrics and amazing voice

  • Crying again, love him

  • His voice is absolutely amazing in this clip. I'm just astounded how rich it sounds. Rivals Ray Charles's live voice.

  • does someone have and would download dwight singing "try not to look so pretty". one of my favs and can't find it here. sung my others, but not dwight

  • My son who is now in his twenties is not a fan, but he is amazed by how Dwight's voice always sounds the same. Like it or not he doesn't need studio to sort the voice

  • To 816debbie Icried when I read your post. I know when I go my grown up kids will play Dwight. I made them love him too xx

  • we lost our friend 6 mounths ago today we miss him more then words can say rip MONTE ALLEN BROWN LOVE YOU ALWAYS:)

  • Great song from a great album, If There Was A Way. One of the all-time great country albums.

  • Dwight Yoakam is a remarkable singer, songwriter, & rhythmic blues mover, & totally underated - it makes me spittin mad - this man is a remarkable artist Wendy Greene

  • Don't know if it's true, but I've been told he plays the Crystal Palace every year for Buck's birthday...I'm gonna find out for myself next year.

  • sure can hear the Hank in this one

  • You cannot beat the country music from the 80's and 90's... truly heartfelt.. just as good as old country... the stuff they call 'country' now is just awful... :(

  • Why could anyone dislike this!?Mother fuckers!

  • nice version... prob my fav dwight album... every song is a winner...

  • I recently commented that garth was the death of country music. I just wish Swight would quit acting long enough to record a new album. Not that I don't enjoy his acting, but dang he can sing way better. Don't leave us with the keith's and billy of the "new" country music.

  • @jmprn1 Dwight's on tour right now, but he has a new album coming out next year (I'm not sure when, though).

  • Stud. What a voice.

  • What happened to country music? 99.9100th's of the recording artists that I remember and liked are gone! I know some of them died for one reason or another. But WHAT HAPPENED to the REST of them? Did Garth Brooks scare them ALL away?

  • D*X

  • i love dwight yoakam -the heart that you own gijoe989.

  • Remember songs like this one. Going away. Crape today CANNOT hold candle to this and the greats like Williams, Haggard, Jones.

  • @chrlsbnnet I agree. It's really a shame. I'm 31 yr old guy and have totally strayed away from todays radio. Hell, they don't even play songs from the 90's anymore. I know times change, but every now and then an ol Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam, or Doug Stone would be nice. Thank god for youtube, and cd collections here at home huh.

  • Saw DY in Austin, Texas last night. Total bad ass.

  • this is good Country music....Dwights voice reminds me of Hank Williams Senior

  • I love Dwight because he can do hard core country like this and also rock out. And he can do both equally well.

  • My all time favorite Dwight song!!!

  • This song is AWESOME! I can really identify with this song :`(

  • wow, wow, wow

  • My boyfriend gave this song to me god i love him!

  • 2 people hit the dislike button on accident i guess

  • Why do some male country music singers wear ear rings? Some even wear them with cowboy hats!!!! I bet they can't even build a fence. Anway, we love you Dwight!

  • I f'n love this song. So simple yet so sweet...

  • This is REAL Country music. Too bad it's been replaced by Pop Country.

  • Love love love love him and this song!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song. It's classic Dwight. Soul touching-heartbreaking.

  • I have loved Dwight for years. My mom passed April 1993 and it was a really hard time for my sister and myself. We partied every night and played all Dwights music and started going to all his concerts. If not for him I don't know that I could have made it through that hard time. Now I have my kids liking him too...

  • what happened to Dwight Yoakam ? He got into acting and then I lost track of him..I loved his voice and his cute little dance he would do when he played and sang...I sure wish he would come out with a song...All the great country singers have moved on to another life and left us with "country wannabees"...sad aint it ya'll ???

  • "Country" music and all music for that matter these days simply generic. They produce it with the idea of adding it to muzak to play at the mall and super markets.

  • dwights the best no credit for how talented he is just like waylon

  • dwight can sure sing, unlike some singers,he really can sing beautiful music...

  • I love this song; I am a metal head from the 80's who's father loved blue grass. Dwight has a great voice. This is very simple but very heavy. Anyone that thinks this sucks is missing the point, and I listen to everyhting from Bone Thugs and Harmony to Yngwie Malmsteen to Flatt and Scruggs, so I think I am qualified to have an opinion

  • This is country. Kiss my ass tim mcgraw

  • This is a true country song and he does it beautifully saw him in Flag it was great had loads of fun

  • The lyrics are quite clever....:-)

  • words that own my heart

  • My favourite song from Dwight, a little subdued live version lacking some energy, video version a lot more stimulating, This Time.

  • Makes me long for the middle class America I remember from the early 60's and my visits to Kentucky. This is country music as I remember it.

  • After listening to this, you own my heart.

  • Dwight's studio version hit #18 in Billboard, 7-25-92. God bless!

  • My favorite vocal performance in DY's legenday career.

  • What a crooner. There will never be another Dwight.

  • What a crooner. God don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • Better?

  • music industry - all of it - is about mediocre talent, not this !

  • OH Dwight...you are the man of all times!!

  • God Bless Dwight Yoakam.

  • FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ther chords are e and and a b7 and d

  • I like this and I am not a giant country fan...kinda not digging the Hawaiian guitar slide but the story line is well written and his voice ...is perfect :)

  • I love this song~~~

    one of his best~~~

    thanks for sharing~~~

  • it seems to be gone Jim and thats a shame!!

  • In country music Dwight is beyond parity, the beauty in the song is in the simplicity of it, thats Dwight for you, a great country singer.

  • IT JUST DON'T GET MUCH BETTER THEN THIS

  • anyone know the chords exactly

  • lmao

  • Dwight marry me!

  • been a fan from the beginning.....this has been and probably always will be my favorite. his most original, heart felt, and beautiful song.

  • My favourite Dwight ballad.

    Come back to Toronto, Dwight!

  • Lynage1, I hear you, I loved that music video, can't find it anywhere, but yeah, william dafoe, some cute girl, it was from the movie "White Sands" and it fit so well with the song, so sad and pure country. Keep playing Dwight, keep playing.

  • Lynage1, I hear you, I loved that music video, can't find it anywhere, but yeah, william dafoe, some cute girl, it was like a movie (hell it might have been from a movie but I've never found out which one) and it fit so well with the song, so sad and pure country. Keep playing Dwight, keep playing.

  • cant see whats the matter with the way he looks now HOT is what I would call it.

  • Love this song.

  • Wish h would come to fort mcmurray alberta and play at my wedding

  • I wish they still had the original video available....One of my all time favorites, with W. Defore. Dwight was "but a boy" then and looked so fine...sleek and trim!!

  • I never heard this song before...what an awesome song!!!!

  • What, if I may ask, is a "pervret"?

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • Ilove this guy would sure like to see him in concert

  • Why is he a pervert? And WTF is a whinny voice? Isnt that the noise that horses make?

  • @BoognishWhoo - Just a guess... But I doubt that you could make a pimple on his ass.

Hey, why don't you post your videos of you performing the songs you've written & performed. Oh, what ...did you say that .... you're just an idiot & you have no talent?

And no, horsey's do not sound like anyone singing, big guy.

    "Pervert"? Yep, you're an idiot.

    Bye bye now.

Would you prefer some awesome 'music" like perhaps Rap of some head banger shit?

  • Hahaha w/e I have no idea what you are talking about. I love Dwight, you are a idiot.

  • If you didnt notice my reply was to mysteryblue69 who called him a pervert and said his voice was whinny. So please be quiet, what you are saying makes no sense at all. I love Dwight and you are a moron.

  • great song, brings back memories galore.

  • The best artist in country today. He is

so versatile. His cover CD's are great.

  • What happened to this kind of music...

  • @jimthompson03 it died when taylor swift was signed

  • @weightliftin4life right, but it started downhill with shania, faith, tim and garth.

  • @jimthompson03 You mean, what happened to music, period? Just a bunch of "noise" nowadays.

  • @gfitzz28 You realize your kids will say that to their kids, right? My dad thought Led Zeppelin sucked.

  • @lens33 Yes, if "noise making" continues to be "noise", they will.

  • Nashville sold out to Hollywood. That's what happened. A dog-gone shame too.

  • @jimthompson03 check out some alt. country bands ...there's ton's of great stuff out there.......you have to dig for fire ...

  • dum og deilig,,,lol, just kidding . hes hot, but far from stupid

  • a fine singer and a fine song

  • Can anyone find the original video of this that played on CMT? It featured scenes from White Sands and showed Dwight in front of a trailer in the desert

  • It's on a d.v.d. called "Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose". A compilation of a few videos from the "This Time" album.

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gotta love Dwight~~

  • you should here the live version from san fracisco

  • Now this is great music

  • where can i find the the heart that you own music video with clips from the movie white sands. i look dwight up on wiki and it doen'st say anything about this song and the dvd doesn't have the music video.

  • great video; great Voice! I Love Dwight Yoakam!

  • I think its from the movie White Sands.

  • man i love dwight yoakam but i've gotta admit i don't think i've ever heard this one. it's beautiful. wow! thanks for posting

  • That song is simple but beautiful.

  • @RKWWWW Country music today is over produced and over mixed. It all sounds the same, like all of the new artists are reading from the same text books at some country music college or something.

  • @rickyd0821 exactly! no uniqueness.

  • Dwight is one of my favorite singer beautiful thanks for posting.

    LorraineG.

  • Lovin' it. Dwight sings so nice and I do love some slide guitar.

  • The best singer and such a great artist..

  • Beautiful~ I was worried it was gone from youtube.... thank god its still here!!!!!!!

  • Where is Dwight???

    He has always been there!!!

He is such a great singer & artist!!!

  • Dwight at his very best Dwight you arethebestgoingincountry .rockon

  • What a great song. Filled with country emotion right down to the core of the man's soul. Takes me to a dusty praire in Oklahoma; Martin D-28 in hand or, perhaps, a big red Gretsch.

  • Dwight is the best ever! He has the purest voice in country music. The only other one I even think comes close is Keith Urban, even though he is from Australia, he is good.

  • kieth urban blows stop listening to american idol country

  • All time great heartbreak song!

  • Nashville seems more interested in image than music these days, its all about how cute the singer looks. This to me is what country music was about, and still should be about, I have never heard a better country singer than Dwight. I had the pleasure of seeing him live in London a few years back, he was brilliant!

  • I can agree, It was reported on the newss couple weeks back that the lead singer of the band "Zac Brown Band" was told to shave his beard off and get a haircut and take his beanie off and he told them no..

  • I totally agree with what you say, slugman, it's all about how cute the singer looks. Dwight plays real country music, not the crap Nashville calls country. But I'll tell you what else. Dwight is about as good-looking as you can get. We can have both!

  • He is totally underrated!!!!!

  • A true and classic country song by an underrated artist. He is awesome...

  • Dwight sure knows how to pour out a sad song.

  • I just love him so much!!!

  • I totally agree, what they call country today is really warmed-over pop.

  • THIS is Country.

  • Just got back from the grand ole opry which I can describe in one word. GERIATRIC. Fine stars 20 to 30 years ago. Hank Williams described country music with one word.SINCERITY. Today this is best illustrated by one man. Dwight Yoakam who is the best thing country has going for it today. To bad the money freaks in Nashville don't get it. Bums--Throw them out by not supporting their trash.

  • Wow!!!

    He is so great!!!

Thank you for sharing this video!!!

  • Love you Dwight! A real country singer and you are an awesome writer and I love the way you play on your words in your songs.

  • I AGREE WITH YOU 100%...............

NOTHING SACRED 77 - Dwight has such a great voice...he is THE BEST COUNTRY MUSIC ARTIST.

  • Dwight is the best. The only country artist I listen to. (well, other than Johnny, of course)

  • if you dont get you drunkinass of the stagee im callin the mayor on the works of u kisskiss23

  • 9th comment from dmoran7!

  • this song is right for u perfect to listen 2

  • My fav Dwight track and one of my fav songs of all time.

  • "I've loved you for years don't know where I'd go now"..

  • The reason guys like Dwight, Alan, George Strait don't EVER LOSE THEIR FANS is BECAUSE THEY NEVER CHANGE! The Trends change, they stay the EXACT SAME as they were when they started! People NEED CONSISTENCY in their heroes!!!!!!!!!!

  • excellent point and that is why they are my favorites too.

  • Amen to that. Dwight never sold out. Nashville has never given him his due credit. They prop up the New Country crap. God, would Johnny, Marty, Buck and Waylon turn over in their grave to see what has happened to country music.

  • Pure Country. Brilliant.

  • DWIGHT!

  • This is a pretty song by Dwight - one of his best I feel. I love ballads and he really does this kind of song up proud. This is the first time I've heard it and I think he and the musicians with him look great. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • Well stated - original, underrated, and this song is a TRUE country song that's a breath of fresh air.

  • a true original. most underrated singer (and songwriter) in the business.

  • True artistry!

A lot of today's fellow country artists have a lot to learn about country music.

Best dressed in the west too...
