  • @katrina10rocks Yes, you may use regular flour. For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt to convert to self-rising flour. The margarine can definitely be replaced by butter.

    --Betty :)

  • Do you need self rising flour or can i just use all purpose flour? Is it ok if I just use one stick of butter, no margarine?

  • @aleaselleanica Yes, you may use all purpose flour. To be precise, you should add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt for each cup of all purpose flour. Yes, you may use 1 stick of butter.

    --Betty :)

  • Looks very simple and good. If I wanted to add oatmeal do I increase the wet ingredients

  • @ttcup I have never added oatmeal to these, but I do think they would be a little dry if you did not increase the wet ingredients.

    --Betty :)

  • That looks great! You see I'm a vegetarian so it hard to find things for me to eat so if you could make a video of something vegetarian that would be great.

  • @aliciahot1996 Thanks for the compliment! I do have several vegetarian dishes--mainly salads, also vegetable chili.

  • @TheGrimrepper96 Sure!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen why don't you cream butter and sugar with egg??

  • @MsPepper9911 Typically butter and sugar are creamed together, and then the egg is added. I think it combines better that way.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty .. Can I use whole wheat flour instead of the self raising one for a healthier option ?

  • @fsm1612 Yes, that will be great! The cookies will be a little 'heavier," but still very good!

    --Betty :)

  • i love peanut butter cookies but what if i dont have flour could i use eggs peanut butter and sugar??

  • @dazhane6121 You have to have something like flour--maybe oatmeal? There has to be something to hold the cookies together.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I have a 11yr old daughter who is nonverbal Autistic. She loves watching all your videos. I keep telling her if she is going to watch cooking videos, then she is going to have to practice them in the kitchen. Love your recipes. XOXO from Oklahoma

  • I love peanut butter cookies and this looks like the best recipe ever...and so easy to make. All your cooking is so simple for us to follow out here in internet land and your planning and execution are always flawless...but even when not...I love to watch the "blooper videos." Great presentation again! Thank your husband for all his hard work as well, even though you are the STAR OF THE SHOW!

  • @pearsonlawrence1 Thanks for your lovely comment! You are so sweet, and I appreciate your comments so much!

    ---Betty :)

  • Nevermind lol I read a comment below thanx betty I have it all on my kitchen I'm making chunky cookies

  • Can I use all purpose. Flour

  • @Discotraxx16 Yes. For each cup of all purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt, to be equivalent to 1 cup of self-rising flour.

    --Betty :)

  • hey Betty, could this be done without the brown sugar? if so..what do i do? just put all white sugar?

  • @Dudeifwhat Yes, just put all white sugar. They won't taste quite as rich, but they will be very good.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks, i made these today and they were great..my parents and sisters ate them ALL lol!

  • @Dudeifwhat Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • u dont use chocolate chips??

  • @Peter2329 No, I don't, but those would taste really good in this cookie recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • ahhh i just made these and OMG they are the best cookies i have ever tasted in my life! ive been sending all my friends to you :-)

  • @BatmanAndRobin1231 Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • if self rising flour isnt available is all purpose flour usable instead? if so is there a change in the ratio of it?

  • @lastdracon For each cup of all purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt to get 1 cup of self-rising flour.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen and if stick butter/margin is not available how much from a tub is needed. i apologize, my cooking skills is limited and im trying to broaden my cooking skills so my knowledge is very limited.

  • @lastdracon 1 stick of butter/margarine is 1/2 cup or 113.5 grams.

    --Betty :)

  • Omg I made your cookies and they were great

  • @MzRessse Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • how is the texture of that cookies? because I dont want them crispy, I want them soft, so you can TASTE the peanut butter.

    thanks so much!!

  • @Licorcito43 I wouldn't call these crisp or soft--just somewhere in between. They are of the texture to melt in your mouth. I do have softer recipes (not in bettyskitchen), but I don't enjoy them as much as this one.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank you so much for answering, I think I'll make this recipe, and if I want something more chewy I'll make a flourless recipe.

    Thanks again.

  • @RSchlegel7252 I uploaded this video 2 years ago; I probably made them for the Super Bowl (football) party.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Oh, Thanks, I was Confused there. Why I asked. 1 more thing. Is there a way to replace Choclate Chips with M&M's or Skittles?

    --Rschlegel7252 :D

  • @RSchlegel7252 I think M&M's make a good replacement for chocolate chips!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks! Certantlay Takes A Confusion off of me! lol. I'll let you know of my questions

  • just made them. came out flatter than yours but OMG they are GREAT! delicious taste. thank you.

  • Hey Betty!

can we use all purpose flour? and just 1 stick of margarine?

    Thank you for the recipe!

  • @azngurlinthehouse Yes, you may use all-purpose flour. For each cup of flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. You may also use 1 stick of butter or margarine, in place of the 1/2 stick of each.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank you so much!

  • Hey Betty!

can we use all purpose flour?

    Thank you for the recipe!

  • how much is one stick of butter? We need to use margarine too? Anything substitutes?

  • @Kathyle207 You may use 1 stick butter (1/2 cup) and leave out the margarine.

    --Betty :)

  • Dear Betty :)

I tried this recipe and they were absolutely delicious every person in my family loved them thenk you very, very much for the recipe!!!

    God bless! :)

  • @simmonsdrumsrule Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Thevenus project

  • This recipie has never failed me; so I decided to tweak it a bit for Saint Patrick's day.

I substituted pistachio butter (which I made by putting some pistachios and some olive oil in the food processor) for the PB, added a small touch of green food-coloring, and left the rest of the recipe unchanged.

    It worked!

I'm going to do this again next Saint Patrick's Day too!

    :)

  • @SinnFein4ever That is a wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

    Thank you!

I hope that your Saint Patrick's day cooking was popular with your family also.

  • ! Yum all up

Also, a whole stick of butter :o)

  • @ixkey Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • lol! a stick of butter is tasty itself with toast! but great with margine

  • and message above for below if it doesnt change

  • I substituted cashew butter for the peanut butter, and used a whole stick of butter instead of half of one and half of margerine.

I used a green egg for mine; but that was all of the substituting that I did

(although I waited to do the design until after they came out of the oven).

Mine were ready to take out of the oven in 8 minutes, and yielded 24 cookies.

    They were a hit!

    Thanks, Betty!

And belated happy 9th birthday to Remmy!

I hope that he got lots of presents.

    :)

  • @SinnFein4ever Thanks for your sweet comment and great feedback! Remy did enjoy his birthday; he gets a party just like the rest of the family!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

    Thanks!

    You're welcome.

I think that I'll live dangerously, and substitute pistachio butter when I make them for Saint Patricks Day.

I can't wait until I see their faces, when I serve them GREEN cookies.

    XD

    By the way,

Did you take vidio of Remmy's birthday party?

  • Thanks so much for this recipe, it was so easy ,and these are incredible! You're a fantasic lady, and I'd love for you to keep up your amazing work! You should have your own cooking tv show! Your AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Yasmin7077 Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty, can I add something on top of cookies?

  • @TheSifeta Yes, before baking, you can sprinkle with brown sugar or chocolate chips, or, after they are baked, you can put icing on them.

    --Betty :)

  • I added an extra egg and some extra flour to the dough...

  • I made the dough how the receipe says and Ieft it in the refrigerator for about two hours when I took the dough out it was dry and it turned real crummy. The receipe looks delicious and I would like to try it. I used baking powder and salt instead of self risin flower.

  • @miguel16alltime You need to let the cookie dough come back closer to room temperature; then it will hold together. The balls will crack a bit when you mash them down with a fork and criss-cross them, but that's okay. They will be fine when they are baked.

    --Betty :)

  • Can you use regular flour?

  • @x00sarin00x Yes, for each cup of regular flour, you should add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

    --Betty :)

  • Can I use butter only or do I have to use margerine as well?

  • @Yasmin7077 Butter only is fine!

    --Betty :)

  • @Yasmin7077 Butter is closest in flavor.

    --Betty :)

  • That is 1 cup for Americans >_>

  • @xbulletproofx3 Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, would the recipe fail if I used all light brown sugar? And how many minutes did you electric blend the mixture? Thanks!

  • @durgaaa Using all light brown sugar is fine. I beat the mixture about 2 minutes.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

What is the function of the margarine?

And can a substitute such as Crisco, or lard, be used in its stead?

  • @SinnFein4ever Almost all cookies need shortening, and i used margarine here. You may substitute butter or Crisco or lard.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

    Thanks for answering.

    ('Sorry about the delay)

Which would you preffer to substitute for margarine when making this rescipe; butter, Crisco, or lard?

  • Thanks for the recipe, Betty! On your page, it says you were a math professor. Why did you retire so early? :-)

  • @qtutoringhelps It didn't seem early to me! I had taught math for 30.5 years.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

do i have to use self-rising flour? or regular flour is okay? please let me know asap so i can go ahead and try them. they look great. :D

  • @pinkbeva You can use plain flour. For each cup of plain flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt, if you want to convert to self-rising flour.

    --Betty :)

  • Tried this tonight. They aren't very good warm as they fall apart to easily. But, once they are completely cool they are quite tasty. Thanks for the recipe.

  • @sr300zx I personally like to eat them warm, even though they are still soft. But, they are also great after they are cooled. Thanks for trying the recipe and for the nice feedback.

    --Betty :)

  • What if we dont have vanilla extract? Will it still be the same without it?

  • @09Cratz Vanilla extract is not needed in this recipes. The other flavors are powerful enough to make these delicious without the vanilla!

  • @FlammableOcean Thanks for your wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • You make these minus the flour and it turns out great!

  • @cheryl2310 I haven't tried that, but I think it would turn out great!

    --Betty :)

  • What the heck is half a stick?

  • @KittenToes21 1/2 stick butter= 1/4 cup = 4 tablespoons = 2 ounces

  • can i substitute the self-rising flour with anything?

  • @clbosa You may use plain flour. For each cup of plain flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. These will be great!

    --Betty :)
