  • Frosted, cold air is more dense than warm air therefore with colder, more dense air you get better combustion which means more horsepower and better all around performance.

  • @NegroDeSangue click reply to reply to someone

  • @frosted1030 do some research dumbass

  • But engines run better when they are warm...

  • Those look like fucking garbage

  • I bought spectre try to build my own intake for 2011 ford fiesta but they dont have the tube for MAF sensor 1.6L

  • You could fab up your own custom intake with intake boots from different make & model cars from the wrecking yard. They're usually plastic and wont transfer heat like metal ones.

  • by the time u do all that shipping and waiting you could have just saved up for an intake ready made

  • fuck that...

ill stick to my cardboard paper towel tubes and duct tape.

  • Awesome!

  • these things are "HOT" air intakes. little performance gain unless you run a custom ram air.

  • I just went down the street to O'reily or as it used to be (murrays). I spend maybe a good 110 bucks and made a custom cold air intake for my 1998 golf gti vr6. It works great. Trust me guys, you don't need to go out and buy something fance from K&N for 250 its the same : )

  • @Ihaveanipoddude your right. pipe is pipe.

  • isnt it illegal ? cause i dont think they have a serieral number ? or am i tripping? cause i dont think there carb?

  • @djmsamson92 in california, yes,as they are made as universal,so no carb, but who would know unless a cop says pop the hood, but if you know your peopls,i know who sells the stickers

  • that pickup look like my shit

  • just go to autozone or pep boys or something and get a cone filter and a 60 degree pipe.

  • I bet it does cost alot, but spectre seems to make the best plenums and intakes for carbs

  • id just keep the shit they send me fr free and not ship them anything back

  • @obbe69 lol yeah. but i think they still want your credit card number

    for that reason

  • or u could just use intercoolerpipe & silicon joiners

  • looks crap

  • Go to lowes and buy pvc joints. Made mine for under $30.

  • alll you need is a MAF sensor adapter and a cold air filter..

  • i made one of these and it came out like a lil under a hundred dollars and k&n is about 345 dollars for a shitty short ram

  • @TrackerYnZ a shitt short ram that makes more power

  • @airsoftloverusp NO a cold air intake makes more hp... Wow u are smart...

  • @TrackerYnZ Yaaa I had a K & N short ram intake. I added a Spectre Performance tube & filter now I have more hp, since I am getting better cold air flow:)

  • cold air intakes do not work. Seriously read reviews on google and on every single forum you will find that they do not work. Most gains are mental and the only real gains take other modification. The only use for this is for shiny metal under the hood so you can show off your 1.8L engine. do not buy this crap and save up the money for a real mod like a turbo or bigger engine.

  • @rocker4u123 cold air intakes do work...just not how everybody wants or expect them to..they definitely improve air flow and definitely get cooler air to your engine. your car wont pin you in your seat from just the intake but its not meant to do that anyway. BUT they are way to fucking expensive. anybody who wants one should find the cheapest cold air intake they can find and buy a high quality filter, cuz honestly theyre all the fucking same.

  • @sjjdiienno1 well they work but not to what the claims are. Some will say you will strap it on and get 12 hp and alot better mpg and throttle response. FALSE. If you want cold air intake design your own you know; by that i mean find some light aluminum plumbing and buy the filter and boom you have the same damn thing

  • @rocker4u123 EXACTLY

  • honestly this overpriced shit is for show cars, not performance enthusiests. from a performance perspective they might be alright but i can buy something at autozone thatll get me the same benefit for .0001% the price. or i could build a showcar and install those gorgeous spectre intakes, and jizz my pants uncontrollably, until i need new pants and i no longer have enough money for new pants because i spent all my money on a spectre intake

  • or I could just do some measure the length and degree of the curves, draw a diagram and get a random company who can bend pipes to do a better job for half the price.

  • people... this system is designed to accomodate CUSTOM vehicles wherein the configuration of the engine compartment is something OTHER than stock. For stock CAI applications, just buy the off-the-shelf stuff at your local NAPA distributor. jeez.

  • i put it on my cavailer, and now my engine bogs down in 2nd & 3rd,??????

  • if only they would make something like that for my 5.7 diesel i can't find NOTHING for that old motor (known as a junker but i like tinkering)

  • why the hell would you want to make whats under the hood look like any thing, why cant people just leave shit the way it is not be 12 yrs old about everything, people play too much need for speed

  • @EthansOpinion92 why do people comment even though they know it wont change anything?

  • @EthansOpinion92 A cold air intake is meant for performance, not for better looks.

Now whos playing too much need for speed thinking everythings about the looks?

  • @NoiteraD i know that you retard, that was the whole point of my first comment.

  • all with the smoothest of flow for your intake.. Oh wait.. no not at all.

  • This is absolutely stupid! the normal person has absolutely no clue about building their own CAI. There are soo many variables involved.

  • @mmiguy2306 marketing...

  • SPECTRE!!!

    HAHAAHHAHAHAHAAHA

theyre the cheapest shittiest filters known to MAN

i had a spectre and it sucked in so much dirt the engine lost compression threw the rings

  • to much work!!

  • i got the same intake that afe sales for $40 ,,,,this is a 80% cheaper system that works the same way,,,,good brand ,,if we didnt have spectra you would be stuck buying over priced systems from k&n,afe and aem,,,,just buy the parts and build it,,,,,

  • I had used one of their cone air filters and it ruined my MAF. Beware of these, they may be over oiled. Better to go with K&N, never had issues with their filters.

  • fuck shipping it back just find someone locally that can weld aluminum, trust me, MUCH easier. Or just by the premade ones with dual flex lines and two air boxes with the cone filters built in, so much better.

  • what if I have to use more than three pieces? d to d? I really wish the video showed more no how to order the parts properly, after c I was lost.

  • cai on a carburetor?

  • @kienan93 yea it works

matter of fact it works better with a carb because a FI engine is 100% computer controlled it only can make so much power without technical mods.

  • this is a super cheap and better intake

  • i went to their website and they only had this for muscles...is it possible to get one for an import???

  • @aneurysmman Just go with K&N.

  • Do you guys make an air intake kit for a 1993 Toyota Previa non supercharge?

  • @lHustonProductionsl you arent talking about intakes here, your talking about intake manifolds. a cold air intake might make like 2-7 hp, a short ram makes like negative 5. im basing my info on dynos on cars at standard operating temps.

  • cold air intake my ass, the turbe, no matter which, chrome plastic pvc steel, aluminum..... they get hotter that shit, to be a true CAI the intake would have to be straight up through the hood, ann not run ANYWHERE INSIDE the engine bay, that place get hotter than HELL, and even the hood gets bloody hot on a suny day, intakes are a waste of time and money, they do sound kool tho :p

  • @NASTYTHEBOY possibly the stupidest comment i have ever heard... if you suck in air from outside of the engine bay, it will be much cooler.. even if it does travel through the engine bay, it doesn't have enough time to heat up.. keeping it cooler.. i guarantee that if you were to run one of these, then turn the car off and feel the intake, it would be a lot cooler than anything else in the engine bay...

  • @kkage2 principal of heat transfer :p COLD AIR that rushes through a radiator comes out hot on the other side, the air drops in speed as it passes though the curves of the cold air intake :] what you say only applies to a straight tube. even the intake manifold is hotter than fuck on a hot day, and dont tell me that shit aint cuvry, and maybe its a bit cooler, but its still CRAZY HOT!

  • dam your dum if you actually buy this anyone can make there own dont be stupid just think for a second buy PVC and save a lot of coin

  • NICE F%$&ING TRUCK!!!!!

  • This guys got a good idea going here, dont rip him, you may gain hp if you have a custom setup made, but if you want real hp using high quality abs plastic, a heat shield and a performance filter, go with a K&N, i got one on my car and its the best!!! there expensive but you get what you pay for, tust me

  • @kawasaki65360 K&N sucks dirt

  • @tonythesom Agreed, a K&N is NOT a filter, it doesn't filter air to the standard required by engines and K&N do not even say it is a filter! Read about filtration. A K&N has a tiny surface area, so to achieve the same airflow as a paper filter with 10 times the surface area, it needs to have holes 10 times the size or more. That's why K&Ns damage turbos and engines, they allow huge bits of mucj and dirt through. Always avoid K&N they give NO power gain or BHP in any engine, but do block faster

  • @urbex2007 wwwwoooooowwwww you r way off man

  • @kawasaki65360

Why buy the plastic vs. the chrome? Is there an advantage to the plastic? I would think the chrome offers better airflow since the walls are smoother... But I am also wondering about temperature of the walls of the piping. They would reach the same temperature but maybe the plastic doesn't transfer the heat to the in coming air as quickly, and thereby having an advantage. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

  • @claymoore172 You misunderstand gasflow...smooth walls will make no difference to engine power! Learn about properties of different materials and the different types of heat transfer under the bonnet and how different materials can be used. This intake system will make NO difference to power, it's what's known as a useless boy racer mod. Done by people who talk in technical terms but don't know much about engines or they wouldn't do it!

  • @urbex2007 My SC monte carlo gained 21 HP off of a cai over stock..... sooo yeahh..

  • @urbex2007

my understanding is that these dont add power, but allow you to maximize power from future upgrades. Eventually your gonna need higher flow fuel injectors, so you should also increase the amount of air coming in correct? nobody claims that a higher flow fuel injector alone is gonna increase your power, so why should this alone... correct me if im wrong on this theroy

  • i cant find this kit on the website can i get a direct link please

  • u suck

  • wow! Nice thanks,,,,,

  • So without this shit, if you had the right tools you could make your own intake and it wouldnt screw anything up with ur motor, like on a snowmobile. As long as you have an air filter right?

  • @YaMaHaCrAzY68 Someone comment back please cus I want to make one for my snowmobile

  • @YaMaHaCrAzY68 yea it should be fine

  • How much would that cost???

  • hey what if i live in mexico??

    lol

ive seen this things down at autozone..they look like plastic tubes though..thats y i havnt bought them...

its dope u guys do this

    5*

  • the car needs oxigen to burn gas right? so ... larger intake = more efficient car? but wait... there is a looot of air coming in so i believe some gas will scape before combustion :S ?

  • yea they have these in auto zone and oreillys but the ones in the store seem like they are plastic..pointless when ur engine heat will heat the hell out of that plastic..causing nothing but warm air..lol

  • all u guys nigger rigging an intake, get a fucking job and buy a decent intake system instead of having a ghetto POS under the hood of ur car.

  • @RippedLives An intake is an intake. They all do the same thing, only when there home made they don't drain your pocket.

  • incoming charge Location

    Length

    Diamater

    filter

    Bends

    Contents made of

    type of engine

are all atributes that make a real intake a intake...

Its not just a toy to show off its a science.

  • @RippedLives if youre smart and know how to use some damn tools youll make one custom yourself, not just buy one at a store and shove it into your car and think your all cool cause you have a cold air intake

  • I don't get why it's made of aluminum. Seems like that would heat the air more thank a plastic kit, making PVC cheaper and higher performance. I think they need to figure out a way to compete with the cheap pvc alternative.

  • Comment removed

  • wondering if there air filters are as good as aem or k&n? any1 kno?

  • they use the same material (cotton gauze) There are a few types, foam (dragon), cotton gauze, and just found out now they have oil less cotton gauze and afe/injen have dry pro series with no oil.

  • or the price of a complete cold air kit they make, iy beats the snot outta all other aftermarket brands i paid 191 bucks for a complete cold air kit on my truck

  • wow why pay for something i did better fatster and way cheaper.

i made mine out of 3 inch pvc plastic tubing just used some couplers and glued it together i bet mines better and sounds great on my car

  • sounds like a ghetto rig setup you got...good luck.

  • @Turbo06Sedan

surprisingly, last car show i went to at the raceway, the "top leader" that weekend had pvc pipe intake o.o custom made cold air using just pvc and some glue and more that he wouldn't say >:(

  • you know the cobalt has a plastic intake manifold.....shaves ten plus lbs etc. PVC is strong as hell and commonly underestimated.

  • Why not weld the damn thing youself instead of paying someone else to do it? Cool kit but I wouldn't pay what they're charging for it

  • and it only costs you your left testicle

  • @mayers000 NO SHIT!!! I wonder how much?

  • @mayers000 lol good one!

  • @mayers000 lol exaclty

  • @mayers000 ha true that

  • @mayers000 and you right one maybe?

  • @mayers000 oh thats it ? thank god i have 3 testicle lol jk

  • @mayers000 lol yea no shit

  • not to rain on anbodys parade, but i made something very similar (only drawback is *slightly* more air resistance) with 3" air ducts from menards...cost me about $20 for a dual ram air intake, and 'appolo' style airbox.

  • This is BEAUTIFUL!!!

    Wow.. What a BRILLIANT IDEA!!!

A true custom intake that YOU design yourself!!

    I love it!!

  • I'm designing an airbox kit for my car, perhaps I could take advantage of this.

  • boutta do this with my i30

  • Cool product but looks very expensive once you account for shipping, labor, and return shipping.

  • yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thats hoooooooooooot. they dont make cold air intake for my mazda milly 2002 base engine so im a try that for some extra horses

  • ay put a bigger turbo. it hase 1, it should

  • Styrofoam?

  • @DaddyTyce so you dont bent the pipe in any way

  • @DaddyTyce dont you listen to the video asshole?

  • @DaddyTyce uh...ya to temp. hold the pipes together. What the hell did you think they were for?! I mean, you saw the video right...

  • @DaddyTyce

Its to hold it in place kid

  • @DaddyTyce for mock up only...not to stay

  • @DaddyTyce for staging purposes only.

  • @DaddyTyce its only to get the right measurments when you mark it, when you take it apart, the styrofoam is taken out and the metal pieces are welded together (styrofoam free)

  • the video says it ding-dong, "foam inserts to hold hold the tube in-place". Pay attention. As DaddyTyce said, it's a type of styrofoam. Please learn to write in English.

  • it was just a holder to get the fittings the way he wants them before he sends them to get them welded.

  • your kidding right? that's just Styrofoam so hold its shape.

  • your a FUCKING RETARD

  • thats a really good idea, surprised no one else has done it...

  • that first truck. the suspension is amazingly done by arron iha

  • finally they come out with something pretty cool

  • nice.. im going 2 do this..
