Why not equal things out and put a MB 10 battery pack on the D700 and get the 8 FPS with the D700 too? How about showing the shots of the burst modes in comparison @ 8 FPS on both? The 7D has a load of benefits but certainly not in the same class as the D700. If you had done the test with both at 8 FPS I would have more respect for your comparison between the 2 bodies. What exactly were you trying to accomplish with this comparison?
@Frosty1962 Bit unfair on the 7D - note how much time the mirror stays down with the D700 at 5fps (the mirror phase is quick enough for 8 fps) compared to the 7D running at full tilt , the D700's AF is helped quite a bit by that.
Would probably like to see this with a longer zoom lens which needs more precise focusing to see the difference between the cameras.
let the two camera's drop from a table and lets look what the damage is(like my little daughter did with my d700, luckly no damages as result) , i need a solid and reliable camera. lol
this video is comparing JUST the burst mode AI tracking, period. so stop comparing all the overall technical spec to the 2 cameras and ending up a canon vs nikon arguement.... as usual. it cracks me up seeing just comparing ONE feature can result a canon/nikon battle royale.... haha
Great comparison? Wanted to ask something, do we need to press the shutter everytime for continuous shooting, or is there a mode to shoot in some kind of a burst?
Bit pointless considering 2 completely different frame rates the D700 is perfectly capable of doing 8fps why use it at 5fps and if you must use it as 5 fps then you should do the cannon at 5 fps as well you simply cant compare things with completely different setting.
Doesn’t take a genius to work out the test is severely flawed whatever your testing.
Why is a full frame sensor such a big deal? It seems that both cameras take great pictures of equal quality. I'd rather shoot Canon crop frame and Nikon crop frame because you dont have to worry bout these stupid new full frame lenses from Nikon or Canon. And if megapixels count, the 7d had 16 or 18, dont quote me on that, but is better than the d700 which has a full frame sensor (12mp). Basically, its what appeals to you most, but i dont think full frame makes your pictures astonishingly better
If you like shallow depths of field, full frame is for you.
Take a 24-80mm f2.8-4 on a full frame camera. On DX (1,5 crop) you'd need a 16-53mm f1.8-2.5 (!) to get the focal length and the depth of field of the FX camera.
I don't want to imagine the cost and weight of such a DX-lens.
The speed of these cameras cant be compared, 7D is a DX format while D700 is a full frame, until now Canon werent able to make fast full frame cameras...
7D has canons most advanced focus system ,super fast and accurate -- now better than nikons best -- and the new noise reduction brings the 7D within 1stop of the D700
@sasktank Yeah If you dont consider that the edges in the 7D's images turn to mush at ISO 800. Btw ever compare a D3 to a 7D? There is a reason it goes head to head with a Eos1 and not the 7d...
7d is cropped and d300-s is not even the half way in front of 7d. D700 is another level and big mistake from nikon (good for consumers).. Totally the same as d3 but smaller body thats what it is!!. So compare d700 with 1dmk3 better, allow me to remind you that d3 sales fall down and nikon forced to make a kind of... celebration price reduction for d3 hahahaha.
5d mark II is 21 mp landscape/portrait/fashion/adverts camera.. So try make better comparisons :)..
nikon d700 is more superior than the canon d7 why?, Focusing is more consistent and accurate, image sensor is full frame, menu and buttons are easier to use and the body is solid and weather proof.
Honestly, I use both cameras and I actually prefer the D700 because of the image quality. You can easily increase the FPS rate by adding a battery grip. For me, quality is superior to higher FPS or more Megapixel numbers.
I have a 7D but I agree with you and even though I think my 7d takes beautiful pics. I have seen d700 pics. and they are beautiful, the colors are awesome.
its not just the speed its how well the ai keeps up the it. the 7d is awsome i love mine

@saadsarfrazsheikh Allow me to bring you from out under that rock. Hold the shutter down when in continuous mode and you'll get rapid fire shots.

I am a Nikon user (and I love Nikon). The one thing I used to like more in Canon is the shutter sound, sadly it seems they lost that in the 7D :(

I totally agree with you. This comparison doesn't make much sense to me either. Full format sensor vs cropped is more interesting.
