Not sure what you see that points to Elvis. A lot suggests Gram - the location (desert with Joshua trees, like the place he died), the suit on the "angel," his painted nails. The lyrics don't suggest either man, and I always figured there was no connection, just an idea for a cool video. Elvis also wore Nudie suits, I suppose, but this is a copy of Gram's.
I have always thought they should have gotten someone who moved more like Gram for the role. Not enough like him.

Allison is very talented and her album Ms Dynamite is amazing! Just don't understand why she's so underrated. This girl can really sing low and high as well.
Great voice, and I bought the CD when this song was first released. I would like to dedicate this song to the great John Dye, who starred in the series Touched By An Angel, and who sadly passed from this earth on 11/01/11. Rest in peace John, you were great in the programme.
