When I bought the game without the mod my g25 wheel was stiff and nice thats how I learned. Once I installed the 2011 mod it got loose and the force feedback fed it all up to the point where its impossible to even keep track. I can rally better with my audi than with this thing. The Original DiRT is a fine racing game, tons of fun, and even half realistic, too. RBR is obviously the Simulator, but when I'm feeling frivolous, DiRT does me just fine. :D

i use a program that allows me to play rFactor and RBR with mouse.

it can be used to other games like f1 2010.

the name of the program is PPJoy.

it is easy to configure . just see some tutorials on youtube.

I never got around to installing RBR on my new puter until this week (on a stay-home vaca from work). I can't believe that I missed RSRBR 2009 and 2010!

Easily one of the best mods ever in my opinion, it's like RBR2.

@Skarakoska Unfortunately, along with Richard himself being dead, Warthog (one of the companies involved in the development of RBR as far as I know) was sold to a company that then went bankrupt. And now SCi games is being run by a different company called Eidos.

33:15 Dirt 2 is a joke compared to RBR.

When you shift in Dirt 2 all the gears sound the same. No audio feedback at all.

To me Dirt 2 (just like GRID) is all eycandy and definitely not even close to being a Sim!

Let's see if the new WRC 2010 game will take the WRC driving experience closer to the real thing.

Is there anyone out there who might know how to map the buttons on my Fanatec GT3 so I don't have to reach for my keyboard once I'm in my seat ?

I'd like to be able to control most things from my wheel instead of my keyboard.

Most important is to be able to move the cursor and to select (call for assistance for example or restart).

Too bad you just reviewed the RSRBR10, because (in my opinion) thats not the best mod of the game. I use the czech plugin which is much easier to use and doesn't take 10GB+ of your hard drive. Just DL the cars and some tracks, that you want to use from their site and enjoy the game.

@Mr2xM I've tried the Czech-plugin, and while it's much easier to use, it lacks a lot of this RSRBR has. RSRBR has tarmac mods, snow mods, gravel mods, the snow+tarmac mad, night mod, countless cars, tons of new tracks... on the other hand the czech plugin has a few new cars, good tracks (that are mainly online only... not good for people like myself who aren't all too great at rallying [yet]), and a tournament section, but that's it. I'll stick with RSRBR even though my comp runs a lot slower.

Hi guy was wordering when or if you are ever going to put F1 Championship edition on ps3 which was one of the first to be released with ps3.Definately needs to go on your rating scale hands down the best sim on ps3... There is a new WRC game coming out for the Xbox360, PS3, and PC that you should review. It's the official game and will feature the 2010 WRC season. It will come out later this year. I don't think it will be as good as RBR but it might have pretty graphics and still worth looking.

I installed RBR, RSRBR 2010, the care mods and everything is fine BUT the BTB Stages don't work. everything else works, but the BTB stages no. When I try to play a BTB stage, the game loads, I select "Drive Stage" and from here it starts to load in a console instead of loading normally with a interface. After that, the stage starts, and I can see the car, but i can't see anything else. The graphics are all fuck up.

Richard Burns Rally was also released for the Xbox (original) in Europe.

If you can pick up a second hand xbox for £20, and the game for £10 that's an incredibly cheap way to try out sim racing!

well this is awsome i love nascar rally anything that goes ill play race i have been gaming since i was 5 yeas old and now i am 23 i don't really like Iracing or Arca.Arca is all about money and making like iracig but arca has some defaults not many people online also some tracks do not load.Iracing has it's defaults too loose to be real and you have to buy every thing now Richards bunrs rally is the most Hardcorest sim why physics beatt all these titles cars look better and i can drive.

Rsrbr2010 have not the same gameplay than other plugins but we respect and hearten all of them. Let me laugh with BTB, it work with laser scan if you have the money, so about precision...

This sim survive with a lot of free crazy volunteers.You get thousands hours of work just for your pleasure.

Championships, at first the level of driving is very hard.

This sim is really something different, unsane and scarying as hell !

Why is a sim racing site so late to RBR?

Why have Americans only just discoverd Rallying?

The WRC started in 1973,and rallying has been around for over a hundred years.

The rest of the world has been watching for decades.

The way they seem to laugh at non American cars is odd.They seemed to laugh at the Ford Escort on another show,that's one of the best rally cars ever made and a hugely popular road car.

They should have used a Peugeot 205t16.

Of course i've heard of Pikes Peak and it's rich history.I love the film of Ari Vatanen in his Peugeot 405T16.I don't know how much you know about rallying,but most peoples favourite era was with the Group B Cars in the 80's.The Ford RS200 and Lancia Delta S4 =WOW!.They were banned because they were too fast. It's just sometimes it feels like Amercans are dismissive of foreign things.I have seen American rallying,( a long time ago)but i think pacenotes are banned,so it was too slow for me.

a modern wrc car is every bit as fast now as a group B car, i think you'll find.

Modern WRC cars can go 0-60 in 2.1 seconds like the Lancia Delta S4 or Ford RS200 could do? I seriously don't know.

But It DID have to do with the speeds. It wasn't spectators dying it was Toivonen dying from flying off a cliff.

Oh and plus the medical studies in tunnel vision - "A FISA investigation later proved that drivers' reactions were too slow to keep up with the speed of the Group B cars, and drivers' eyes could not adjust their focus between the fast corners,"

............yeh.....and when was acceleration and power everything in motorsport? the handling, trick drivetrains and electronics in a modern wrc car along with modern day suspension and dampers, not to mention brakes, and aerodynamics, are miles ahead of a group B car, obviously. It more than makes up for the 100-200 hp defeciet, where on tight windy stages, which is what most of wrc is today, that extra power doesn't help much.

Yea RBR is still a great Game, Its just the RBRSR mods are and added extra, albeit a welcome one that i'm yet to install (It ate my final 10 GB for breakfast and wanted extra cheerios ). I'd say fire up that xbox original hard drive son and give it a spin. That said I know not all the originals are supported on 360, Is RBR one of those that is?

I've played RBR on the original XBox. Slow loading times but exactly the same as the pc version so still good. I'd recommend putting the controls to full speed on a standard controller. Obviously it's made for wheels, but sometimes I play on keyboard and it's still great.

Thanx guys for tributing the best rally simulator and Richard Burns by himself, he deserves it. Czechs are little bit crazy about RBR, the czech plugin is really cool either. Lot of tournaments and even of whole virtual rally teams competing each other, then exclusive new tracks, more are comming out soon..(NO BTB, but precise 3D MAX work) and plugin is using improved physics to be even more realistic and 4 better car comparision. @pavelgee Codemasters would probably wreck everything RBR stands for. Don't get me wrong, DiRT, at least visually, is a spectacular sim (VISUAL sim), but their aim is the general public, not simracers. Codemasters themselves could probably come up with a better engine than RBR's, yet, if simracing isn't the company's goal then it'd just become another generic DiRT game.

The tendency appears to be for all arcades to move towards more realism. Dirt 2 is way better than Dirt. NFS Shift is a huge improvement for the series, GT5P is getting there etc.

Plus Codemasters' early Colin McRae Rallys were pretty good for the time (then came GP Legends and RBR, of course).

Point is, they can have a great game that spans across sim/arcade spectrum. It will be cost effective (no need to develop two separate games) and since sims don't really make money by themselves, will marginally increase their sales. There's also reputation.

That's a fact. Unfortunetely it's a fact that scares developers. They aren't confident enough to put their money on it. Truth is you could develop a single game with two focuses (realism and arcade) and give the player the option to choose between the two. Problem is... you'd probably make more money launching 2 completely different games (Like the present NFS attempts). The thing is an all-arcade and all-sim games would appeal much less than a 'more simmish' and 'more arcadeish' titles.

@MidnightZeto They should really just make Shift 3 have Full Superhardcore Sim mode and Various Regular modes. Have a mode before it that's called Hardcore and then a mode called 'Pure Simulation' and have a warning that this mode is made for wheels and is unrelenting in accuracy to the point of sacrificing fun factor.

You guys mentioned the lack of mouse support was an issue, but if you have your wheel bolted to the front of your desk, then having the keyboard jammed behind that is also an issue.

Eventually I got so sick of leaning over the wheel to use the arrow keys, ESC and Enter that I just used the Logitech Profiler to map all the keys the my DFGT.

Navigate menus with the D-pad, select with the (X) and ESC is now the START button ;-)

Someone should make graphical update kit for RBR, mainly just update billboard trees to high detail ones. I handle modelling but I don't know how to intergrate them in RBR.

DiRT2 graphics aren't ofcourse possible(shaders etc. are't supported on old engine) but that would be the ultimate game.

RBR is absolutely amazing. Not only is it worth the ~$20, I think it's worth the price of my racing wheel. As the guys said, countless hours of fun. The game is super realistic, and while it may be initially frustrating, the immersion will make you fall in love. I literally laughed out loud the first time I played at how great the force feedback feels. 10/10
