@dankskillzz Oh I can handle it alright, this is just a poor shot and my laptop is lagging like hell but lets see if I'll have time to do a re-cover of this song. And thanks for the constructive comment! LOL
@0bz3n You from sweden mate?, I can see the IKEA paperbag at the lower left section of the video, btw nice video, keep on practicing and you'll able to play like Martín López, keep up the good work ;). cheers from Mexico City. =)
@WieNennIchMichDenn Most of the off time is due my old laptop that has huge latency issues and yeah, this isn't the best shot I can do, so I'm doing a recover hence I have the time =)
@MandragoraGaming Thanks for this CONSTRUCTIVE and helpful comment! I would like to see you play some Opeth songs if you think you are any better than me or even capable of doing so... =)
@0bz3n Well i am waiting for my triggers to arrive then i can upload The grand conjuration,that i play with my band...Don't get over your self kido,just 'cause YOU fail on it doesn't mean rest of peeps do too.Have a nice day.
@MandragoraGaming Hahaha! Imho you don't need triggers, just a well tuned drum + good mic. And no, I'm actually really humble when it comes to music but as it's said, what goes around, comes around... So give me a shout when you've done The Grand Conjuration cover! And likewise to you!
nice job! a little rough around the edges though XD i dont really want to repeat everyone's comments, so wat stuck out in my mind the most to work on, would be the double bass. it's a bit lopsided, which mostly comes from having unmatched densities of sticks when playing with your hands. so you might try adjusting the tension on the pedals a bit so that your weak foot doesn't give it that floppy sort of effect.
@spdemille I'm really clad for this comment! Because I yesterday checked my left pedal and it was a bit different to my right pedal and now feels much better to play for both pedals are similar! =)
@0bz3n also, not sure if you know the drum corp vocal method, but it's really helpful. you say words along with the beat to help time them with your body.
four short notes = **** = mississippi -> miss -is -sip -pi
two shorts and a long = **o = butterfly -> but-ter-fly
a long followed by two shorts = o** = grasshopper -> grass-hop-per
Pretty good, but you rush almost every single fill and get ahead of the song, then have to slow down to compensate, which sounds awkward. Just relax and take your time; it'll sound better if you play evenly and confidently without trying to perfectly replicate the song than if you try to copy exactly what Lopez does and end up messing it up all the time.
@ifindthisoffensive Thanks for your comment! Awesome to hear constructive criticism! =) Yeah, there is quite often some off timing and as you said, the cover lacks confidence... But if you would like to see a much better Opeth cover, check out my cover of The Baying of the Hounds from my channel! Appreciate if you'll be willing to comment about that one! =)
Not too bad mate. Keep practicing for sure, but also don't feel bad. Other than Danny Carey who's on his own level, this might be some of the hardest shit on the planet to play with. Opeth is this generation's Jethro Tull, and certainly the best metal band out there today as far as technical playing. Great effort....
great effort man. in addition to the earlier comments i would say to work on the fills, especially the tom work. Lopez was known for his fluidity and jazz like beats, i know that having the largest tom on your left may feel comfortable but it doesn't make for easy transition, especially in the "devil cracked the earth" tom riff. Keep up the great work though and its definitely coming along. No one said opeth was easy to cover even Mike says the drummer is the hardest position in his band.
@TheMetalOracle Probably yes, I'm still experimenting with all the different settings and trying to find some kind of a all-around settings =) And thanks, mate! All though, now as I watch this I can see so many flaws that I didn't see the time as I decided to put this up but maybe It'll pass =D
As some people have said, very well done, but tempo issues! I don't see so much stiffness as some other people have mentioned, just that I can see you've not mastered this level of drumming (yet). But I'm not the one to talk, I'm maybe half the drummer you are... I'd love to practice more, but first things first :-)
@Thystonius Thanks mate! = ) To be honest, it's really motivating to read these kind of comments, thank you for that = ) And yeah, I agree. There are lots of flaws and problems with tempo, that I didn't notice earlier. Guess this means I should go and buy lot better metronome and start practicing more! = )
Very well played! I have to go with Papu's opinion about your playing, it still looks a little bit stiff and it's important to get the groove of the mellow parts. Apart from that, really well! Keep up the good work :) I'm uploading a cover of Deliverance soon (Might do Master's Apprentices aswell, but I'm still having some issues with the double bass)
@Steldrum Thanks man! I've got to say that to me, I've noticed from my videos that I'm sitff while playing because the funny part is, I feel completely relaxed while playing =0 but I hope that my hands will get more relaxed once I master the techniques I'm working on lately = )
I'm also planning to film Deliverance hence I have the time and have practiced the song a bit more = )
@abagaba111 Thanks mate! I really appreciate those words, for I'm really critic about my own playing. I'm trying to fix these issues as profoundly as I can, so do subscribe to see my further progress = )
I would suggest you to practice with a metronome; stay relaxed too, you are extremely stiff (is that the word?), those parts are supposed to be tasty and groovie; lastly and not less important, you should try EQing some more the kit.
I hope you get better, i want to see this rerecorded in one year.
@papupapu1 Thanks for the tips man! I myself have noticed these same flaws and I'm practicing regularly with metronome so I could get my playing more relaxed and so I could be able to play higher tempos... Lot's of work ahead...
And yeah I'm trying different EQs in every filming session so I would learn mixing and find the "perfect" sounds = )
Stop with this laptop excuse. It is clear you can't handle nice quarter notes on the double bass and you don't need a laptop to get them right.

you cannot handle that drumset clearly ...might wanna go back to a 5 piece lol

also, try practicing some basic drum core rolls that you would normally do with your hands, but with your feet. :)
