No infact thats a common misconseption, when you buy a gallardo your given the option for gullwing doors... so it could be either.

yeah, i havent seen that option yet.. i dont think lambo wanted to offer it on the gallardo because it's the "baby lambo" and they figure if you want gullwing doors then people can pay for the gallardo's big brother.

Its not due to the fact its the younger sibling of the Murcielago, its actually due to the Gallardo being the first model made under Audi ownership and the high heads in Audi said they wanted a much more toned down supercar.
