  • First of their albums are closer to beatles, but later are much more advanced and way much closer to nowadays music

  • the times that we dutch people made proper music.

  • a highly under rated song as well.

  • good old times

  • 5 ouwe kut

  • It's good to listen to the original version.

  • Pretty big hit in Holland; still got the single.

Saw them live about 4 times, always great!

  • AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING*****

  • i was 11 when i heard this.

  • Damn! The business advisor should've mentioned the sniper to the poor singer!

  • Maiden's cover is way much better! Bruce did a masterpiece!

  • @TheFuturealist

This is clearly not a song for The Maiden, Maiden´s cover lacks the feelin and atmosphere, and Dickinsons voice doesnt match the rythm (besides he sings everything the same way always), so go away maiden fanboys. I do like the Maiden, but I love Golden Earring. To each their own, and here I stand with the Dutch.

  • @Armfary87 I agree, Iron maiden wasn't bad, but barry simpely sings it better, the same with most covers, they simpely can't match with the original.

  • @Armfary87 Yeah, but I've just wrote my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. No offence to anybody ;)

  • the iron maiden version is better

  • Greetings from their motherland! Where I come from too :)

  • I was able to see them in the USA when they toured after their worldwide debut (Moontan). It was a great show. I have been waiting to see them again. Even now, after the age of Prog Rock has dimmed, There seems to be a certain nostalgia for the music styles and arrangements that made the 70's music trip so exciting. These guys are deservedly the most popular band in Holland. That's not taking anything away from the other bands out there. I wish them continued success.

  • I wish I saw Golden Earring in concert. I have been a fan since I was a kid. This is one of my favorite albums.I absolutely LOVE the band.

  • I saw Golder Earring back when at the end of the show the drummer would set off an explosion and be launched over his drums and land on the stage. But later I heard he got seriously hurt doing it.I have been a fan since the early 70's.The word "Emotion" comes to mind when rating this song. There is more emotion in his voice.

  • a haunting song from a great band off a brilliant album.

  • Barry is loaded!

  • If Earring were British or American they'd be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame by now for their many great albums and songs. Barry has ugly nostrils.

  • nive song but Iron MAiden Cover sound much better in my opinion

  • i'm 59 yrs old and i got to see this band oh 6 or 8 times, and they are that good.i just love them.ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER.

  • pure 3.25 bliss.

  • Rinus Gerritsen is one of those extremely talented and influential bassists that never get any credit whatsoever.

  • @Schbopo right on the money comment.

  • @Schbopo You just gave him credit.

  • Very underrated band!

  • one of my favourites from GOLDEN EARRING, what a song !!!

    A +++++

  • CE SOIR .... The EARRING's ROCKS !!!

  • I remember I used to play Monopoly to this song all the time.

  • @IronMaidenDoD I lol'd

  • good one, I say tie

  • Cool,although i'm a big Maiden fan the original is much better.The singing,the violins,the sitarguitar,the tension

  • that's a coooool one, the only problem is that nothing can über Iron Maiden :'( XD

  • @fugstik no problem, cripple :)

  • maidens was better sorry!

  • I am sorry to the Maiden fans, but I can't stand IM's cover version, especially Bruce Dickinson's vocals ruin it for me...

  • Actually, this is the single version. The album version (from Switch) is twice as long and has much more impact. To me this album version is one of the best rock songs of all time!

Indeed, quite a stupid cameraman who didn't know the difference between George Kooymans on guitar (who plays that great solo on the end of the song) and Rinus Gerritsen on bass. Maybe he can't count, since he doesn't seem to notice the difference between 4 and 6 strings, lol.

  • Seems that I wasn't the only one that discovered this amazing video after listening to Iron Maiden's version of Kill Me Ce Soir :D

  • 20februarie naar ahoy:D:D:D:D:D:

  • That kid on Guitar is highly underated.

  • @BigEthetank68 The whole band is

  • Golden Earring... <3 vanaaf in dordt! wieepppieeeee

  • Great memories, thanks

  • The singers name is barry hay, and yes. he is great

  • I like this band! singer is so cool!!

  • This song is highly addictive 5/5

  • a highly under rated band

  • @shecter100 I agree. I think that the phrase "under rated" is often over used, but I do recall that Creem Magazine writer said that Golden Earring "only had one song in them anyway," but I really have liked their LPs.

  • @shecter100 The Switch album is their Aqualung, Led Zep 4 or Who's Next, everybody had it. and by the way, I agree with you.

  • @prazmj I still have the album, just fantastic. I just gived all my LP from over 30 years ago to my son, who is just as mad as I still am for the genuine rock music.

  • @shelyl You are a great parent!

  • @shecter100 underrated?? the best holland has?? underrated?????? no no no no ;-)

  • swicth was just one of the great golden earring albums! one of the most taleted bands ever!

  • when howling lead bit into his head what a classic

  • I agree that this group is really underappreciated. This is a great song, and Maiden's cover is great in its own way. Kind of like when Metallica covered Turn the Page...I liked that version too, and it was 180 degrees different from Seger's version. Same deal here.

  • i agree with you on that...steve harris is a big fan of them... out of personal preference i like the maiden version better....this one is still good though

  • If I'm not wrong, Kill Me Ce Soir by Iron Maiden was b-side in Be Quick Or Be Dead single, for the album Fear of The Dark.

  • not b side just cover

  • The Maiden version was the b-side for the Holy smoke single from no prayer for the dying , along with 'All in your mind'. ;]

  • ce soir was not by iron maiden.

  • I always loved this song. And the rest of the "Switch" album was good too. Too bad this album didn't get the same recognition as "Moontan". The tunes are a little more popish, unlike the art rock of Moontan, but still, all good tunes. I'd like to find the song "The Lonesome DJ" posted here. Another great track.

  • "Switch" caused a lot of shit with the record producers, as they had promoted Earring as a rock band due to Moontans success, then they came out with "Switch". Have to say, although o.k, its the least fav of my Earring albums. I think l might agree with the record producers.

  • They have been playing awesome music since the mid 60's Totally under rated band. 8 miles high isn't even associated with them cuz it sounds so different from their 70's or 80's stuff.

  • Good song, I only new "Twilight Zone", I like this song too:)

  • wow i thougth that golden earring sucks but this is prety good.

  • thanks for the spam

  • Im from The Netherlands, and i can say....IM PROUD!!!!

  • eelkerients, you should feel very proud of this great band. I am American and I saw them live when I was a young teen. I later used both this song Kill Me (ce soir), and the song Switch as sound tracts for my video prouction class in college. Rock on G-Earring!!

  • :o)# KILL ME CE SOIR Deliciously mysteriously sounding.. Haven't heard it for YEARS. I also love the orchestral strings. Recorded/Released when I was in my diapers. Like another favourite of mine, Queen's A Night At The opera.

  • amazing song! truly beautiful

  • I got Ya'll beat I saw the "Switch" tour in 1975 (yes they played Ce Soir) and in 1974 when "Radar Love" was a hit. I cannot say enough about how good they were. If Ya wanna know, Ask Me.

  • Sorry Rock Child, I saw them in the 70's as well and was backstage with them in Holland for two days in 2001. See my videos for further evidence :). Yes, they were good then but even better in 2001. Worth a trip to Holland without hesitation. great music, great musicians and very cordial people.

  • He got notnin' to lose

He was a king of the jews

He secure his place to histrory

    :D

  • music dont get much better than this TOP CLASS SONG AND TOP CLASS BAND

  • yes...:)

  • My favorite song of Golden Earring since many, many years. Thanks for posting. Greetings from Germany.

  • Great song on one of their most interesting albums. Thanx for uploading!

  • nice song...listen to the IRON MAIDEN version

  • Slechts 8100 kijkers. Heyyyyy Berrie rules

  • One of my favorites and the only 1 I don't have on my MP3 player. Haven't heard it for since trading it in when picking up "Last Blast of the Century" and "Moon Tan". Had to have vanilla queen.

  • Is die pianist Robert-Jan Stips?

  • ja dat is Robert-Jan Stips

  • this version is cool but i think the maiden one has got a bit more attitude

  • Great Song!

I have a question about the video though. At about 01:00 some soloing is going on, but the camera stays on the bassist. Is that one of those unfortunate cases where a cameraman sees no difference between guitar and bass?

Im asking because it appears that the guitarist generally "hides" behind the vocalist. I just want to know if that is on purpose. :)

  • This video is from a dutch top40 tvshow about 1975. The show never had live performances, only playback. Probebly the cameraman didn't see difference between a leadguitar and a bass. Actually the guitarist is the frontman of the band. He writes about all songs. He is a genius in writing music and an supurb guitarplayer. The band still does about 100 performances a year and is regarded as one of the best livebands ever by many musicians. I.e. Steve Harris of Iron maiden.

  • great vid & great song... i have to admit is better than the maiden version.. by the way can you send me the song jejeje:P

  • it aint luck that some songs like radar love have allready been song by 200 (YES 200)artists......but thats my favorite song of Golden Earring

  • didnt know golden earring sung this me used to maidens version ..this still rocks thou..best ever line ever from this band"shadow dancing"from when a lady smiles

  • i kept listen constant repeating this song for some three hours today like a mantra from my past - this year i become fucking 50- tnx for posting- great song i seemed forgotten but now favourited

  • YOUR SOLID GOLD AND I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL

  • one of the greatest rocksongs i have ever heard !!!! AWESOME !!!!!

  • i remember when i first heard maidens versian iv jsut found the original i love iron maiden but the originals so much better in its own way. WOW ROCK ON

  • Thanks for putting this up. I have really liked this song since it came out. This is the first time in about 30 years I actually saw them play it!

  • @gregohb I saw GE 5 times in concert. They are one of my favorite bands. Every concert the crowd went wild with good reason. They put on the greatest act you'll ever see.

  • Respond to this video...I love GE they put on the greatest concerts and I've seen many.

  • Ce soir was the non commercial follow up for world wide mega seller Radar Love.

A very brave contempt to switch over to a new style of continental euro-rock. Kill me (Ce soir)is a Hay/Kooymans original and was a big hit in the Netherlands but was to avantgardish to continue international succes.

Years later Maiden did a nice cover.

  • The Iron Maiden version was way cooler IMO

  • agreed
