Thanks so much for posting this. Now if I could find an MP3! I saw them in 1983 when they opened for the Stray Cats, as well. They had about 10 pieces, horns, just fantastic live!
I always thought Roman Holliday was what happened when a doo-wop group ran into the pit band that just played a production of "South Pacific," shot a speed-ball, and decided to jam.
I just loved these guys. When we first played stuff from this record on the radio, the phones just lit up with people wanting to know who it was. Same goes at the college bar I spun records at. Saturday night, the dance floored packed to their song, "Stand By,' and the kids didn't even know how to swing dance.
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This song IS real!! I have been dying to hear it for years. It was my fave song back in 82 when I was around 11. LOL! Thank you so much who put it on.
Has anyone been able to locate a CD or mp3 recording of this song? Good thing this video exists. I think it's the only modern evidence that the song was ever recorded!
It is available on CD through E-bay, Amazon or even best buy: (of course Japanes version, excellent songs, all the best, it will probably cost 20-40$), must have of course!
WOW...thank-you so much for posting this video. I have only seen the video a few times back in the 80's and always wanted to see it again. Fan of Roman Holiday from wayyyyy back
Thank you for posting this. Some of my earliest memories ( as fuzzy as they are ). I have been looking for this video for probably 20 years unsuccessfully, and here it is. I've tried describing the video and the band to people for years with no luck. This is great. I hope that you have some other early MTV videos.
I met the singer in the early 90s in a (straight and coed) gym in New York. We was cool and friendly and stoked I remembered the band. He said the whole Roman Holiday period went by real fast and was a blur...
Hi - love these guys too - went all the way to London, UK in 2001 to see them do a reunion gig - they were awesome!!! 6 of the 7 orignal guys were there - it was crazy! I have all their stuff on mp3 - email me if you'd like it! Cheers! Mare
I honestly just heard this song a few days ago on XM Radio, and just thought it was pretty cool. I'm very glad someone here had the song to it. Thanks.
Sorry about some of the missed footage at the beginning and end of the video. In those days you had the tape in the VCR waiting for your favorite video and then it was a mad rush to push record on the remote.

Sad to think the dishy blonde chick would be considered kinda overweight by today's standards....
999manman 2 years ago
@999manman I dunno about overweight. I was more focused on her being too "manly" by today's standards.
msawesome 11 months ago
@msawesome I guess so...this was a year or two away from the big 80's hair and slutty makeup so I'll forgive her this time. LOL!

I've got the 45 of this song. The artwork is great . The disc is see-tru with an image of the boys in colour. I might put it on ebay.

One of the early vids I saw on MTV.....nice, lighthearted '80's material....almost like an Aussie Squirrel Nut Zippers.
