  • Its sad to see people arguing below. I mean, hell, it doesn't ruin the song but isn't time better spent listening? Come on dudes lets keep calm!

  • THis song is in my top 10. Fucking Epic

  • I have no qualms about Marty's fans loving this song, let alone the entire album. My only problem is those who cannot handle criticism directed against their idol. Except for my first comment, all my comments are mere responses to accusations. I never coerced anyone to respond to my comment, you know.

  • Only Marty to capture alan's voice in guitar...

  • I've lost all my respect for this guy since he went fully pop in Japan. Now he even dresses up like j-pop idiots. My advice to Friedman? Take your Japanese act elsewhere but not here.

  • @filofeigondo You seriously think Marty would listen to YOUR advice?

And i believe he's already taken his Japanese act elsewhere... Namely, Japan.

  • @ProgRockMickyV2 If my advice is solely my own opinion and remains unheard, No. If , however, I find more like-minded people, then my advice will no longer be an opinion of an unknown individual but collective sentiment. In that case, I can't say he will simply ignore my "advice." As for my statement concerning his Japanese act, emphasis is placed on not bringing his act in the U.S., not on his Japanophilia.

  • @filofeigondo Im sure more people would rather like to see martys japanese stuff in a US tour than hate on him. His Jpop covers are some of the most likable instrumental songs Ive ever heard, including this one. And he never really went full pop, hes done all kinds of genres. Loudspeaker was Metal, his jpop covers are more like hard rock, bad dna was techno and metal, and future addict was punk metal. and a bunch of pop-rock side projects. No, he isnt full pop.

  • @rampage222555 I admit he's an exceptionally talented guitarist. In fact, I even have some of his instructional DVDs from YG magazines. I wouldn't mind seeing him live even if his shows feature extensive coverage of J-pop tunes solely for the purpose of learning, but I miss his Cacophony and Megadeth days.

  • @filofeigondo Yes because Marty has to live his career by your word. Shut the fuck up you. He still writes better than you, he's still a better musician than you'll ever be, and You know what? I fuckin love Jpop/rock/metal and i'm an american metalhead. Japanese musicians even their pop idols are fantastic. Go take you Nationality elitism act somewhere else you tool.

  • @Overture2152 What's with this passionate anger? I'm sure he lives by your word ROFL. If you love gay J-pop music, good for you. Just don't call yourself a metal head because you're a disgrace. National elitism? I'm Japanese, you retard.

  • @filofeigondo Again way to act like a twat. Sorry but how am I a disgrace to metal? Cause last I checked most metalheads aren't just purely metal at least not the ones I know. Sad that you think we only have to listen to metal. I mean I've been listening to that and hard rock for at least 10-11 years now since I was a kid. But now other than metal I listen to: Classical, blues, Jazz, Techno, trance, swing, Jpop/Rock/metal, opera, what have you. Don't call me a disgrace boy.

  • @filofeigondo im not gona get angry or anything, but im a little confused as to why you feel compelled to voice such a negative opinion. i mean, here i am, a 15 yr old kid from new zealand, i play guitar obsessively. im in a death metal band, a jazz combo and busk regularly playing classical. but that doesnt mean i dont hate other music, cos i do. but instead of going to videos of stuff i hate and telling everyone so, i listen to stuff i like, like this song.

  • @OldMotherRigby If you read my first comment, you'll see that it bears little or no malice. It was intended as a jocular criticism but some people take the expression of even the slightest degree of disapprobation so seriously as to not allow any kind of criticism. As a classical guitarist and a studio musician, I love Jazz and blues as well. I'd even lay down a solo for some pop music but it isn't my cup of tea.

  • @filofeigondo Great! then i see no further point in you making another comment. I hope you will allow fans of all martys work to praise this masterpiece. If you really feel compelled to continue to argue with a new angle, or even build on your 'i dont like pop' point, do so, but know that i will be far too buisy to reply as i will be listening to the music, cos thats the reason im on this page.

  • where i can get this song? on itunes it not appear and the same with ares

  • IN WICH YEAR THIS SONG BE MADED? SOMEBODY KNOWS??

  • he follows a scale for most of the song. I have it nearly all tabbed out (all thats left is to finish the solo and clean it up :D) But I really dont know what key its in. Almost all the song except for one clean part has these notes- A#, C, D, D#, E, F#, G

I really have no clue what that is. Its no pentatonic scale. Its no major scale. Most of the clean and dirty follow these notes.

  • @rampage222555 DUDE! Any chance i can have that tab when you are done with it? i will love you forever! :D

  • @RiffsterMoharram pm me with your email and Ill send you the tab for this song. the tab should be up on UG in a few days too.

  • @rampage222555 One of my favorite Marty Friedman moments: He's sitting there jamming with Paul Gilbert, and hits a dissonant note. So PG is like "wait... what key are you in??"

    "Im not in a key..."

never going to forget that :) Ive studied music theory for a long time, but it is no substitute for a good ear and playing with your soul... The "key" is an invention we use to EXPLAIN music. It shouldn't be something we use to WRITE it.

  • @karwash2011 yeah that was an epic moment. Its true what you say. But most of martys stuff is in a key. After reviewing my tab for this song, theere are only 3 notes that deviate from the D# major scale in the whole song. And he mixes blues scale into alot of his songs as well. When hes improvising however he just rips through everyone with his very soul. Hes awesome all around.

  • きれいな歌!!!

  • Warning: This song gives you fuckin shivers!

  • grande !!!!!!!!

  • 01 guy is kirk hamett

  • @mikemax69 No, it was you.

  • @TheLawliet08

excuse me marty is a god, kirk have stiff fingers

  • @mikemax69 I know Marty is a good guitar player, but you're the "01 guy".

  • Mostly he is using pentatonic scaLE brother ...:-) He is a master of using pentatonic scale @RiffstarMoharram

  • Can someone tell me what amazing scale hes using?!

  • @RiffsterMoharram he never learned any scales, but i guess its based on the pentatonic scale with som exotic extra tones

  • I felt really calm after listening to this music.

"Live Samurai Style, Honor the bond with the Death coz someday you'll meet him."

  • fuck, this is insane!

  • oh sweeeeeet, I just bacame a samurai!

  • Thanks Marty!! U hv brought hopes 2 my tomorrows!!

  • He's Jewpanese

    lol

  • I like these oriental guitar songs it sounds like a Tak Matsumoto song.

  • Un Fudging believable

  • HOW CAN SOMEONE STAY UNTOUCHED BY MARTY MAN!!!!

    he changed my LIFE forever!!!!!

  • As a long time Deth fan, I'd rather listen to Tokyo Jukebox over every Deth album.

There's so much genius, so much vision, so much heart, soul, wonder, beauty, skill, tone, and brilliance within every note played. He's transcended beyond just a shredder, just a guitarist, he has become a part of music itself, and it touches me to listen to... every single note, every single bend, and every single hammer on, pull off, whatever, that Marty Friedman plays. He truly deserves worship.

  • @DreamingTheatric have you read dave mustaines book even he says hes brilliant and in the beggining he was extreamly jealous of his mad skilz

  • @DreamingTheatric I disagree, theres no denying Marty's genius and these songs are touching but Megadeth is just a full frontal attack on my senses and any negative feelings I feel. Its strange to try and compare the two but in Megadeth his guitar was an accompaniment (a bestfriend) to the great lyrics which mean so much to so many people. I don't think the sounds his guitar can make match the words sung by one of the greatest metal bands of all time.

  • @Metalgiraffe22 That's completely normal to each individual's testament. When I have bouts of negativity I need something to calm myself into a personal submission rather than feed more fire into it. I've always felt the instrumentation should be the forefront of music, and the lyrics the accompaniment, not the other way around as popular music is today. Regardless, as much as I like 'Deth, their songs only fit a few certain situations for me, Marty's stuff has fit into a lot more for me.

  • B) Marty has effortlessly, and most respectfully, sauntered across genre lines that NO other Metal guitar in history has ever dared to. From Traditional Japanese, to full-blown Classical orchestra, to Pop & Techno... and back again. IMHO, his journeys are unparalleled.

The coolest thing I've ever seen posted about Marty (and it was recent), was someone who said "Marty Friedman is a fucking household name here in Japan!".

Shit. 'Nuff said. Like I said... unparalleled.

  • I think there are truly ignorant and narrow-minded people (musically, I mean) out there, who think Marty is some kind of 'sell out', since his departure from Megadeth. How utterly ridiculous. A) Marty can still shred the fuck out of metal guitar, and there isn't a metal guitarist that ever walked this earth, past or present, who can punk Marty out on a guitar of ANY genre (Metal included, to be sure).....

  • i just cried

  • This guitar piece is just so inspirational.

  • Anyone have any idea what the name of the scale that he's using is? I keep hearing it in Japanese and Chinese movies. Thanks in advance.

  • @STorpedo chinese pentatonic scale i think... Im not sure..

  • @agakhan13 sounds like that

  • @STorpedo

the japanese A and B scales are both built of the

    pentatonic scale sir!

  • I usually don't listen to other stuff other than metal or classic rock, but this is really cool!!!

  • I can really respect Marty Friedman for doing this. He always seems to be trying to expand his sound and do something different. Amazing song!
