ford had a better axle, and a better auto trans than chevy, the motors are low pressure, low compression turds, but they held the low ends better because of it. chevy had middle of the road compression ratio, and higher oil pressure, and the blocks held up well, but the axle and trans lacked a bit. (trans lacked a lot) ford had an issue with weight displacement with most of the f150's tho, i think. in my experience with them they didnt go as well offroad. the inline 6 was badass,

I have a 92 chevy pickup lifted 13" with a 3" body on 49's with straight axle swap never had a single thing go wrong it has a 454 swap from the original 350 and is cranking out about 600 horse and 1100ft lbs of torque.
