  • @loriann1237

You are one stupid person. The Catholic Church, a cult? What are you, WBC? As far as I am concerned, any church that lives by moral standpoints, is not a cult.

That includes almost all denominations of Christian, Islam, and Judaism, with exceptions for extremist groups, which you seem to fall under.

  • It's another Mark Castle who lives in Arizona

  • Hmm, this isn't me.

  • this is now the reality,,,,yeah right[[[sad but true}}}

  • @darkangelme2128 i am so sorry, meant to vote up!!!

  • Where is god? Where is justice? They are not doing their part, NOT DOING THEIR PART!

  • the catholic church has a hell of alot to answer for, but, for some reason, it got away with it. Makes me sick to my stomach. God??? Religion. You can keep it for me. Thanks for posting your story x x x

  • @MOSESCAT69 God has NOTHING to do with this, Catholicism and it's leaders are to blame, and NO they are NOT Christian, they are a CULT!!!!!!!

  • this makes me sick to my stomach.

i give thanks that i'm not in such a situation.. and i hope one day many others can as well.

  • why?! thats all i can say.. WHY?

  • @ 3:16

i hate seeing boys like this

  • you would really take it all back if you knew his whole story and actually read all he and other men have been through. you would put up with the irritation, believe me. click on his channel

  • his voice didnt irritate me at all,

but this truely was a very sad story ='(

  • Why is it that Catholics like to make orphanages and torment children all over the world? This isn`t an isolated case. This seems to be the normal treatment that Catholics throughout the world have historically given to institutionalized children and it makes me sick. Catholics scare me.

  • exactly. there are very few good ones.

it sickens me when kids are abandonned and abused and go to more abuse.

-one girls story in ireland...she was raped at 7 and her father sent her away like she was the crim...the nun called her a whore. where is the justice??

  • Unfortunately it wasn`t just one girl in Ireland. It was MANY girls with similar stories & they weren`t just called whores. Some were sexually abused. Many were beaten. Many were made to strip as nuns made vulgar remarks about the girls` private parts. All were imprisoned & worked as slaves with no sentence term to get out.. All were malnurished. All were mentally abused. All were denied an identity. All were made to live a virtual life of silence. All were deprived of an education.

  • oh i know it was thousands...i just meant one in particular i read about. i have studied all about the laundries and residential schools for boys an girls. also, being sent to asylum if complained about sexual abuse.

i suppose you have seen "sex in a cold climate" and all of the other ones. imagine just because you are too pretty being sent to one of those places. i can't believe it went on so long and like the women said the church ran the country. very sad.

  • Did you see the movie 'The Magdelena Sisters'-it's about the place she was sent to in Ireland

  • yes and read numerous books on laundries and industrial schools in ireland. very very sad an i will never understand.

  • i had to deal with those damn nun's, not all nuns are bad but some of them arereal mean! brides of crist my ass!

  • this is so sad!

  • I think it's fantastic that all of you had the courage to bring this issue to light. Never, never should something like this be hidden and forgotten.

Keep strong and press on - you are opening the eyes of many and helping those who have experience the pain to believe that there really is justice finally coming to help their tortured souls.

You inspire me with your courage and persistence to get to the truth!

    Keep going!

    Marlene

  • May I ask where this facility was? I am so so sorry for the unnecessary anguish and torture you went through, and the deprivation you suffered for not having been given all the joys of childhood. My heart goes out to you.

  • Staten Island, New York is where it is located.

It is no longer used for the same purpose.

Thank you for your kind words.

"I am not what happened to me,

I am what I choose to become."

  • This is very honest, heartfelt. Reading some comments, perhaps it was not everyone's experience there, but this is about how it felt to just one kid, memories of feelings. It certainly has all the uncertainty of being a kid, alone, scared. Even though I was not ever in an orphanage, I can relate to the honesty --how it feels when nobody understands and you're on your own. It's always an act of bravery to talk about abuse and how it felt and is remembered. Thanks for the courage, Mark.

  • It has become apparent to me that during the time that I was in the home and the time that Mark was there is a big difference.I shared with Mark how I felt about some of the pictures that were used in the video that upset many of us. He apologized to me and will remove some of them I apologized to Mark for some of my comments It was unfair of me to attack him about his memories in a different time period

  • It sure would be nice to hear the stories from that 90% that you say went on to be productive citizens...Its always good to hear success stories.Would you like to expand on your comment : "Its like today follow the rules your ok don't follow the rules pay the consequences." Tell us about the consequences at the orphanage....

  • Mark, I was not in that orphanage but I did live in a orphanage. I have written several books telling of the horrors we children suffered at the hands of our caretakers. The beating, sexual abuse and verbal abuse were almost daily. I have made several videos myself (The Towel Whip) which somewhat tells of these horrors. Of the three hundred children who passed through the orphanage gates; most went to prison, became alcoholics, drug addicts, prostitutes or committed suicide.

  • Read this article:Mission of the Immaculate Virgin on Staten Island, which became so well known for brutality that youths would run away and sleep on the subway rather than spend even one night there. According to New York Newsday, "Adolescents returning from temporary placements ... described a pattern of incidents in which longer-term residents raped, robbed, or assaulted newcomers while night-shift staff slept on the job." [14]

  • during the time of the 1970 and 1980 the home was taken over by social services yes you still had the nuns and priest but alotof them had any control of what went on in the dorms. they started to prepare in 1969 as group homes this changed everything.more lay people in charge of the houses, less involvement of the nuns and priest. it sure wasnt like the way i grew up there.

  • My heart goes out to those of you who have been there...
