  • Wankel is a Fraud and a Cheat...

  • mercedes inventet the wankel but had a lot of problems so nsu tok up the chalenge in ro 80 but still problems then mazda made the rx 3 and the rx 7 and they solved some of the problems but the wankel engine is now a reliabel engine but it tok a lot of years

  • If they had put half of the years put in piston engines we'd have ridiculous rotaries.

  • what's the name of that song or soundtrack?

  • AMAZING!

If "Felix Wankel" could see this.....

  • Not it aint just less wear

  • the rotary engine predates ww2 by like 50 years...wankel may have made improvements but definitely did not invent it.

  • Felix Wankel was the creator and inventor of the Rotary engine, worked for the Nazi's during WW2 under the aeroplane organization true the rotary has less moving parts and "might" be deemed reliable, but the biggest issue is he apex seals that need constant lubrication, which means keeping an eye on the oil level If the rotary doesnt have enough oil, the rotary will be gone, also the major consumption of fuel is another issue it has. Piston engines provide more power and better MPG.

  • Rotary engine can start and run dry with no oil. Piston engine will heat up and weld it self to a stop.

1.3L Twin-rotor engine is more powerful then any < 3.9L 6 cylinder piston engine.

  • Wankel, originally a sealing specialist, carried out development work on rotary valves between 1936 and 1945 with the German Aeronautical Research Establishment DVL. In 1951 he began working in Lindau with the research department of the NSU Motorenwerk AG, based at Neckarsulm. He completed his first design of a rotary-piston engine in 1954, and the first unit was tested in 1957. Mazda, a Japanese automobile company, produced and developed the Wankel engine, introducing it to america in 1971.

  • Just find out, Felix wankel was his name.

  • Yes this engine was invented in Germany way before ww2. I dont remember the first name of the person who invented it but everyone knos his last name Wankel. The engine was tested on tanks and airplanes it didnt work on tanks because of the weight. years past and in the late 50s mazda bought the rights for the engine. it wasnt too reliable at the time but mazda work hard to perfectionate the engine, the rest is history.

  • That makes no sense. Please take your own life.

  • really its a amazing motor!

  • I can be wrong, but i remember something about this engine have been made to aircraft in the WWII...

    some info please?

And feel free to correct me ...

  • that was the rotary piston engine not the wankel rotary engine... dont quote me though

  • rotary wankel engines have been used in airplanes because they are far more reliable from their simplicity. even if a wankel rotary engine is failing it still continues to work for a while, while a piston based engine is dead quickly thus giving time to perform an emergency landing.

  • Mercedes benz i belive was working on this , gave up and sold it , and mazda soon adapated it from forgot his first name , wankel and are the only company o successfully have a rotary

  • oh man I can't imagine how poweful would Mercedes benz AMG rotary engine would be. If they ever made one

  • hahahahha, like AMG is something special, LUL

  • if you want a rotary mercedes look up MERCEDES C111 was a MR 3 rotor lol
