I was glad I found this on YouTube; I viewed this in the recruiter's office and felt compelled to search for it online to share with others. I have shared this with my son's grandparents, aunt and uncle.
@AudioAngerCinema If your going to join and you said you were excellent in school go to college first so you'll be a officer instead of a grunt but that's after all your other shit.
Wish my parents were like these parents. I do excellent in school and never get in trouble or anything. Yet, when I mentioned enlisting, my parents bashed the Marines and made fun of them and yelled at me repeatedly. I hope they will change their mind, if they don't, im still enlisting at 18.
@Tankecuapapo Same with me. My dad was a marine and I will be one too. One of my buddies joined the naval academy, and I hope I can join it too in 2-4 years.
i took my oath yesterday, my mom cried, my dad was furious, and i told them, "you know me and i have always striven for the best my whole life and the marines are the best. This is me and this is what I want to do." I know i havent passed basic yet, but i am already proud to say that I will be a marine.
I can't wait to be a marine. Honestly this is the proudest decision I've ever made. I also can't wait to continue on into college So I could be a Marine Officer OORRAAHH!!
No matter if I was an officer, nor does it matter if I was enlisted. The point of this peer response to this posting, I was proud that I served. Not to sound so glib with my comments. I was referring to the inbox, that I received from someone. Your still a Marine no matter what, you are apart of the brotherhood, that dates back to 10 November 1775.
My Mom and Dad STILL worry...18 years after I left for Parris Island. When I told them I was shooting for 30 years of service, they told me they will stop the worrying then. But they do agree it was a fantastic decision for me.
@hunterdwhitley1993 Ill pick up from my last comment. Your mom is just being a good mom. She worried about her son and there is nothing wrong with that. Its only natural. Your mom is telling you you cant do it to test you to see if youre serious about joining. All Marine parents worry about their sons and daughters. Boot Camp is a ball buster! But you will get through it. The quickest way to get out off of the island is to graduate.
if your life has no direction and youre scared of something withour any reason, come and join in the marines, and gain confidence and honor they are the best
Do what you gotta do. If ou believe you are supposed to be one of the elite then do it no matter what. Parents always come around....eventually. Hang in there.
1 more years to go before i get to sign for the Marine but i have a weight problem, i am 34 pounds overweight of the marine standard. Anyone can give me some tips, i already got a diet plan but i just need a little more.
Not necessarily an exercise program, but wrestling can cause you to lose a lot of weight. Most wrestling coaches are hard asses and will drill you until you are about to vomit. You also get the opportunity to lift weights a lot. Jut a suggestion.
get off your ass and run. i was a body builder before i went in. i had to work my ASS OFF to become a Marine..you want it or you dont. make shit happen!!! good luck.
well, make sure you can meet the minimum physical requirements, you have plenty of time, but you'll need to start running and be able to do pullups and a lot of crunches. going into it fit is the best start
I joined in 1978 at 17 years old. My father at first refused to sign the papers because he thought the Marines were nothing but infantry with a few planes thrown in. Took me and my recruiter 3 months to convince him that the Marines were more than that.
I wish they had had a video like this back then. The only videos they had were of the bootcamp experience and some of the battles that wrre fought in WW2 and Vietnam. I am glad this video is out there for all to see. Semper Fi and OOHRAH
tmor18 - What I would suggest is you show your parents this video, let them talk to the recruiter without you there and then with you there, you explain exactly why you want to join and what you expect to get out of the service and try to get your parents to discuss the reason why they are against it so that you and them know exactly what each other is thinking. I am not saying to force them but to calmly sit down and try to rationally discuss it.
as any story, video, play speach or movie there"s a plot. But if you think there is not a difference or that things are fake then maybe you should join and answer the questions for yourself insead of just "thinking" somethings an act! Hell If we all acted chose our decisions on what we "think" then we really would have a grade A cluster fuck on our hands! I bet when u drive home in ur nice forgeign car, to your perfect house an at your wine tasting it's o.k. to "think!" Marine's act!
as a proud marine mother I find this video to be very honest and my son loves it.I have nothing negative to say about it.But it is something hes always wanted to do.Note the comment by the father the marine corps is not the place to be unless you want to be there.Good luck to all of you who are joining.
i do support our troops and i know it must be hard on families when they deploy... i shouldnt have said that its "an act" BUT u KNOW that they are not going to show the negative responses from families
an act or not,we should still support the families of our soldiers and the soldiers in general-no matter what branch of military they are.I don't know where you come from, or if you even have any relation to the military, but it's a bit hard on their families too... especially during deployments.
and yeah.. there's a lot of change from when they first go in and how they come out. in a few cases, maybe not for the better.but i'm sure eventually it will work out for them all.
it's not an act i am going through the same thing wanting to join the marines and my mom and dad reacted the same way...why the marines it's true because they are the best. joining in august can't wait!
Super good video, it is just plain awesome, I LOVED it, I couldn't ask for a better video to watch, by far, this is the VERY BEST video i have seen in my entire life...................that's how i feel.
i served 10 years in the infantry in the Marines. it is a place for only a special few. only those who are able and willing to sacrifice themselves for a greater good can be allowed to join these ranks. it sounds funny but it is true. i fought in what has become known as the battle of Fallujah in 2004 (i was in the city of Ramadi at the time but the two were collectivly apart of the same battle).
You will never ever understand world events as a civilian the way a Marine does.

they dont have warrior training ware you live? im enlisted on delayed entry leaving december15 and kinda the opposite of you im 6'2" and 245 every Thursday my recruiters work out all the delayed entrys (lots of pushups crunches and running) talk to your local recruiter they may have the same program near you.
I wish I had my family supporting me. Although i'm in college, my grades are goin down the hole. I can't wait til I join up. I could use the Motivation. Is there a way I can get a copy of this film on DVD? I could use it.
