@DJVMFVME Great comment. Me and Sinatra in the same sentence. That's a first!! Congratulations on your original. That's some talent you two are packing! Thanks for listening.
@johnofett Cheers mate. That's a lovely compliment. Looking forward to more from you my friend. You do some class stuff over at your place. Just subbed.
@KristinSpradling Thanks Kristin. I've been working on smoothing out the edges in my voice recently so this is a major and much appreciated compliment.
Hi Navim - there is great quality to your voice - it is very distinctive. Very nicely sung and played my friend. Thanks very much for your comment. Simon.
Hi Navim, I don't initially think of politics when I hear this, just the crisis in my heart and in my head when things don't go to plan and therefore it was, as far as I am concerned, well executed. I had an affinity with the words that you were singing, my story over, La Hawthorne.
Without wishing to sound like Simon Cowell, that could be your best video yet! A great song sung with real feeling and an excellent performance, just ace.
@TheHawthorne2 Hi LaH and LeH. Cheers for the comment and thumb. The flat topped Frankenstein headed monolith of all that's mediocre in music would, no doubt, use a million ellipsis' ............ .................... .................... before deeming it not similar enough to the original.
Ahhh to be a joyless puppet star pawn. The happiness is must bring to so many misguided wannabes for 15 minutes. Hope to see you both soon with the dogs un' all. How's the Bowie going?
This is sooo enjoyable, really! Great job, as always, Navim! You really know how to feel the music...and you always choose the right songs to sing...they fit your voice and your personality (in my opinion) :-)
@Zinasoul Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment Zina. You are very generous. As one who communicates her own feelings so wonderfully well in song, you words are especially appreciated. As far as my personality, goes I guess there is more than a few elements of truth in what you say!!
Hats off for this performance Navim. You have really sold the message. Fantastic song choice. Very difficult to get right especially with that key change. I enjoyed this very much indeed. Bob
@bobtulip48 Bob you're a diamond!! Thanks mate. You're right on that middle 8 part. Very perceptive of you. It was the first time I'd got that far in the song when recording. I had to pause to recall whether I had any idea how to play B flat minor. I'm still unsure but I think I was close!! Cheers my friend.
as usual great navim wonderful performance and great sound on the guitar and vocals .... and you are right the song is apropos ... we're in the midst of a national election over here and noone is qualified to speak for me
@bangaway Politicians .... don't get me started! Why keep promises when there's deals to be struck and money to be made? There are some exceptions, but talk is cheap in 2011. Thanks for your kind words buddy.
@PialatBernard Bonjour Bernard. Merci pour votre commentaire et merci pour le partage de votre propre chanson sur les événements actuels. J'aime la musique qui a l'honnêteté et l'intégrité. Votre chanson a été grande.
@damondrydes I don't think you got this song big over on your side of the pond Damond. Glad you liked it. The words really cut deep with many at the time and others have taken it on fit there own struggles against oppression. Thanks for your encouraging words. Real good of you my friend.
@drivermciver Sean! That's a mighty nice thing to say buddy. Thanks a million!!! Been in touch with your sister in law. She's buried the hatchet (in me!) ........ and we're now friends. Peace and harmony! Just as it should be!
Hey, Nav. Missed this one the other day. Sorry mate. And it's a cracker - gentle, lilting and yet so near to the bone. Great job and this soft kind of song is well suited to your voice. Tweaks the heart strings (Steady, I'm filling up). Thumbs all the way and regards.
@raffaport Steady mate, you'll start me off! This is one of the songs I'm doing with the kids at the moment. I tried to get a three part intro and outro part going with a group of 10 year olds from one of my schools. I wanted to use it over the visuals in the upload. Nightmare! Giggles, fall outs etc.
Promise me you'll never go back my friend!! They just don't understand us proper !!!!!
@brittanycarraway Hi Brittany. I've been working on a less forced delivery of late. Thanks for noticing. Hope things are good with you and that Spring has sprung.
@Ma965 I'd love to jam with you one day amigo. I see some You Tube videos with people doing the same song in different places but I have no idea how to put that sort of upload together. One day my friend........ one day. Grazie a mio fratello!
@padraigpurseal I know what you mean Padraig. I prefer some of the Irish covers I've heard to the original. The words are key to the song. They sing so true. Thank you for commenting my friend. It's always a pleasure to hear from you.
Thanks for introducing me to a new song(for me). You sang it with passion and conviction and you communicated the message so well. Great job Navim!!!!!!...as always....Take care my friend.
@carrolly2k I appreciate your encouraging words Jim. The original is a little more uptempo and on a keyboard. It was a moderate hit over here in '87 but has grown in stature since. It's well worth a listen. I wanted to strip it down to give the words more time to linger. How you're keeping well. Cheers.
This is a neverheard and great song - well performed - and it suits your genre like a glove. The oxen are slow, but the soil is patient - so there are no reason ask for forgiveness from YT or listeners of being silent a while. Nice to have you back!
@maggiesband I love the 'oxen' proverb!! Is it Finnish? Thanks for your kind words. The forgiveness quote was a bit tongue in cheek. Does that translate OK? Catholics use a similar phrase before confession in these parts.
@navim49 Hi Navim, I think that the origin of the saying "oxen are slow but the soil is patient" is Chinese. But I have applied it sometimes - in the area where we live people are famous of their slow motions (and thinking) in life.
@maggiesband I like that ethos. What's the hurry? Life in so many places is too fast to appreciate all we have. We have a saying over here, 'take time to stop and smell the roses'.
@tillyireland Much obliged Padraig. I see your football team are shaping up nicely for the treble. The Rooney thing annoys me. Is there no place for passion in football anymore? The FA make up new rules just to appease the sensationalist media and the PC brigade again. I despair!!
