  • So you don't think that the British culture has shaped the American culture?

  • Ketchup is all good with the English. Welcome you seam very smart enjoy you're stay.

  • im english, but salt vinegar and kechup all the way

  • personally, i am sick of the americanisation of our culture

  • @Nihilanth1982 The cream rises to the top, buddy.

  • Shouldn't this be Japanese in London.

  • @footyball66 no, shes american. Just like im mixed race and british. Your ethnicity and your nationality are two separate things. And she's asian, you've just guessed shes japanese, she could be viet. or chinese, or korean?

  • @footyball66

Does she have a Japanese accent? Is she speaking Japanese? What are you jealous because you ain't American? You think because you're white you get special treatment in America? When you come to NYC, you stand in the foreign line with the rest of them - she stands in the American line. And yes there are separate lines - or should I say "queue". Clown.

  • its chips not fries!

  • 'Anglolalia' is "legitimate neurosis"? What was the inclination to speak such mistruth? Anglolalia is forced assimilation, not casual assimilation. Also, neurosis is a word associated with avoidance tendencies, so is the opposite of what you are describing.

You seem like a smart girl but don't pompously use words which (currently) elude your understanding.

  • @owenhunt No, you are wrong. She is correct. Plus, neurosis is any disorder that causes distressing anxiety without a severe distortion of the sufferer's personality - that is the (abridged) medical definition. Now who's the one using words they do not understand? You're just another youtube jerk who can't pass up a video without wanting to trash the person in it. Pathetic.

  • Chips without salt and vinegar would destroy me!

  • smh @ the comments...lol

  • American culture is not rife in Europe you dumb yanks are just that ignorant you believe the world revolves around your fat arse's

  • @miloholbrook I bet almost everything you listen to came from America. All the films you watch as well, or at least the majority. American fashion, American economic policy, we even follow them into wars. Britain is basically part of America.

  • @yossariancomplex You make me laugh. I watch English films as i find American films way over the top apart from afew exceptions, I dont dress like an american because my clothes actually fit me i dont wear my jeans halfway down my legs and as for your economic policies dont get me started. We gave you your language your country and your all descended from English and european immigrants so now tell me that England is part of America because from where im sitting its the otherway around

  • @miloholbrook I'm an English man. I do not like our country being an American state but it is. Lets say that you don't have any influence (which I do not accept is true, you don't watch american flims, listen to American music or wear American clothes?) the way the country is run mirrors almost exactly America, the few things that differ (the health car and education system) are being reformed in the American image. As for language, native english is diluted with americanisms.

  • @yossariancomplex He was right to say that their culture is not rife in England. The US has had influences, but their culture being rife here? No way. Carribean and Indian have had more influence on us than the US...

  • @miloholbrook even if you personally somehow manage to stay clear of the few aspects of american culture that pervade our own that I have mentioned the majority of the populace do not, the majority follow American trends.

  • @yossariancomplex

Lol as if. All depends where you live.

  • @yossariancomplex All the comments saying Britain is part of America are completely idiotic and shallow on both thought and time horizon. For instance you are arguing that British culture is completely dominated by America using the English language! Britain started the industrial revolution and its economic and production methods where adopted by America and other countries. Our law, monarch and uncodified constitution all makes us completely different from you.

  • Thank you for this video, I really want to get the insight of about London, in your next video can you talk about American vs London style clothes culture? Also I would like to know what would be the praise do they say? Word such as (Awesome, well done, fanstic, neat, nice, great) things like that

  • Just wanna point out something: chips are not fries. Even many English people get that wrong. If you want to know the difference, go to an English or Chinese chippy and order chips, and go to McDonald's and order fries.

  • and salt and vinegar is great for CHIPS

  • LOL ur a joka

  • "we brought chips"

    "Wicked!"

    ^ ahaha love

  • We have streets. All the mail will get sorted out anyway.

  • Despite that the English language first developed in Britain, the language has become an international language owing to America influence around the globe.

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 The British Empire controlled all of Africa, large parts of Asia and Australia. Most of the countries that where in the Empire now speak English as a second language, such as India. The British Empire managed to spread the English language around the globe before America declared independence. America does continue to make English a popular language around the work in recent times say more than the British, but the British defiantly had more to do with the spreading of the l

  • @HeLovesCulture `Britons`? very medieval way referring to us mate. And if your relatives don't have the initiative to find proper places to eat they are going to get shitty food. Ok, French fries are the skinny fuckers served in mc donalds and the likes. Chips are the big slab cut sized variation served with cod, we have salt n vinigar'd the bastards since the 19th century. Its by no means the apex of British cuisine but a working class tradition.Reet?

  • There are some really cool bands in London, in different genres - they just aren't being picked up or promoted in these dull times. London is an absolute crucible of culture and art, and of rock n roll. Check out a band called CHIMANKO and their videos, to see what i mean...

  • what are you up to these days??? still in london?

  • She finally realised that Americans are fake Europeans.

  • u americans r so strange! ketchup on chips?? chips need SALT AND VINEGAR guys!

  • @Rose1379xxx so you dont put ketchup on french fries? thats weird?

  • @Rose1379xxx I like a spunk sandwich.

  • @Rose1379xxx who puts ketchup on chips? We put ketchup on FRIES!!

  • @Rose1379xxx Salt, vinegar AND ketchup. But yes, what strange people would eat chips without salt or vinegar?

  • @Rose1379xxx Chips and curry sauce!

  • @Rose1379xxx nae m8 gravy is best on chips

  • You should totally go to ghetto of London, document that lol

  • @Graffiti731 whats the ghetto of london there is more than one

  • Can you even speak Chinese? Let Alone [American] English?

  • If Americans hate this country so much, why do they come here?

  • @andrewbarrett42 I don't hate London. I'd love to go there.

  • @ilikefoodxD I did,nt say just London,England,read my comment properly.

  • @andrewbarrett42 London is in England, and I would like to go to a city in England. Does that not apply?

  • @ilikefoodxD I know London is in England, what do you take me for?I live here in England,England is acountry and London is the capital, dumbfuck.

  • @andrewbarrett42 Then what's your point? Maybe it's assholes like you that make a bad name for the English.

  • @ilikefoodxD andrewbarrett visited Florida once and wondered and got raped so hard that his food does not digest it just goes in his mouth and straight back out of his bum hole. Hes now working on the streets over here in England... goes by the name nick name slack!

  • Yeah, those drunks. Haha....

    haha

  • ANGLOLALIA???? I can't find that word. Is it real ??? I know I might sound stupid but I want to know.

I'm an Anglophile - Person who likes England and all thigs english :)

  • I usually hate videos like this but I really enjoyed watching this. I'm English and from London. If you want o experience London more then places just out of central London are very interesting, just a bit dangerous. Try Brixton, it has a huge market that is maninly for African/Carribbean people due to the large population in that area. East London is more asian and North London (Turnpike Lane area) is full of greeks, jews, and muslims. Just keep your wits about you in these places.

  • put the salt and vinegar on the chips you buy from the fish n chips shop!!! How long are you in London? I'm English but moved over to FL when I was little and stayed for 7 years, but then camr back to do school. London is awesome, love it here, and I'm slowling getting my accent back

  • Hey I was wondering what college are you currently attending in London? How is London for an American like my self?

  • Silly Yanks

    ROFL XD

  • OHHHH I love the Vinegar, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, started doing it when I got back to the States lol, some say, mmm, where did you get that crazy craving lol.

  • I actually know people in the States (I'm an American (Georgia) in London too!) that put salt and vinegar on their fries. I never did it, but I guess if people can eat Salt & Vinegar Lays they can have it as fries too. I tried it when I got to London and fell in love with it. I was really missing out, lol!

  • great videos! you are one of the rare video bloggers that i can watch and i find entertaining :) I'm going to London this September to study, so this is really fun for me to watch :) i will subscribe

  • i think the only americanisation (spelt wrong but i dont care) are some of the products and sponsors and car etc thats all really nothing about our culture is americanized. remember england was around longer then the usa lol

  • One thing about the chip/fry issue:

In America, fish & chips is still fish & chips. Don't ask why.

  • Love your videos! Just came across them by accident! great moves too. From DK

  • she goes to the white areas u wanna see london go hackney lool

  • You're so cute! Lol!

  • I can't say Crisp... jesus. I will die in England

  • Although jazz and modern hip hop are generally considered "American". Both have their routes in africa and the carribean. Centuries before Hip Hop music existed, the griots of West Africa were delivering stories rhythmically (this is common in all cultures)

English gospel music of the 17th and 18th century can also be clearly seen filtered through soul, blues, jazz, reggae and hip hop. all ofwhich are closely linked

It is hard to accurately argue that something is from 1 place/people alone

  • To be honest looking for "British" culture in London (ha) was a bit of a silly idea. Like looking for the real America in a Starbucks in New York. Interesting perspective though.

  • Had to search this on Encyclopedia Neurotica for anglolalia, LOL!!! The uncontrollable urge to affect a British accent... just like you said... not that I didn't believe you... =P

And you don't have this anglolalia... what you have is:

phenotypic plasticity... but I have considered the fact that your just a Ninja slowly disguising your Americaness to blend in with the Brits... =P

  • aweee

u looked so great dancing, Lan!

dont develop too many muscles... dont wanna look butch.

    brain muscles are acceptable.

  • and its funny how our episodes actually overlapped this week...

  • dang! we might bump into each other if I go there after another crazy dance class hrm.... : )

  • Aaah I did that too with the mail and the mail box when I was there!!!! Lol confusing. Plus, you rock. At life.

  • hahaha! thanks! yeah, they're so organized with the mail, only that my rocking at life involves not knowing how to work with the system...

Someone tell me the difference between stamped mail, franked mail and meter mail?

  • yeah, i still don't know the difference!

    Thanks Sherry : )

  • I try to not speak with a difference intonation cause cause i don't want to be diagnosed with crazies!!!

hi simon! : ) hiiii *waves*

  • Wow. I didn't think there'd be that many different types of mail... I'm not sure what franked mail and meter mail are though...

The dancing and singing looked really fun! Aaand, they have packets of vinegar? Wouldn't vinegar on fries make them soggy?

  • dude! yeah and my fries got all soggy and smelly : (

dancing is fun! and good exercise too!

  • lol wow hahaha ur good!! hahahah 5/5~~

  • thanks very much!

  • holy crud!!

jazz singing and hiphop! so cool!!

  • haha yeah, i don't know if i'll have time for any more of that...

  • hahah 'sooo many sauces' I still don't see the issue with putting vinegar on chips, I mean ketchup is kinda like a tomato-ey vinegar anyway.

The bit where you freaked out about the mail was so cute, I was watching like 'but it's ok, you put it in the right place' and then you said it was ok and it was like watching a film where you start to empathise with the character and want them to succeed....if you see what I mean.

Anywho, I shall see you on Friday!

  • haha : ) you're arriving in the afternoon/ we'll sort the details out soon. I haven't bought the cambridge tickets yet...
