Not a jellyfish.. also, it's very hard to put back into the ocean from the shore. I spent several minutes trying to save one in Florida, but they're extremely hard to throw (they're really light and catch the wind), especially when you're trying to not get stung. Also, the waves kept washing it back in.

It's called Man o War (a creature related to jellyfish) this is something you don't wanna get stung by and I would not release it in the water, I dont know, but perhaps it can sting you even if it's dead.

"it" is actually "them". The Portuguese Man O' War is a colonial organism made of many zooids all attached to the air bladder. I suspect if you saw just one of these organisms by themselves you wouldn't be so inclined to judge since they're basically shapeless hunks of goo.
