  • What you have there is no good mate, fluttering during boost is very bad, its called compressor surge where the turbo is boosting more than the motor can take so its spitting it back out while your still trying to boost.

Out of common sense its not right to try to spin something the opposite way while its moving at high speeds. your bound to hurt something.

proper fluttering will be after the throttle has come off.

  • haha and who ever said i spend 30 grand? sponsered bro spent like 8grand

  • @PuReInSaNiTy1994 sponsored now? oh ok who are your sponsors? if its sponsored there must be some media somewhere. what website can i go to see your super fast sponsored 2003 evo with 30k invested into it where you only had to spend 8k and sponsors took care of 22k even though you got bank and can afford it while keeping it slower then 9's in the 1/4. car sounds awesome!

  • actually 10'8s lmfao what turbo? my talons faster then my evo bro, its 2 in the morning

  • @PuReInSaNiTy1994 10'8? what do you trap? funny thing is there are cars with maybe 10-15k in parts running faster then 10'8s lol. and you got 30K into it? youmadbro? post up videos and pictures or quit trolling.

  • lol ur cars slow bro

  • @PuReInSaNiTy1994 LOL alright 17yo youtube troll. What do you drive? or do you still have to ask mommy for rides? got back to pirating software you poor scumbag

  • @05VIII lmfao, yeah im 17 but i got bank bro, 2003 evo, 95 eagle talon tsi, and buyin a hayabusa, what u drivin? lmfao get tuned bro, i have over 30 grand of ams parts

  • @PuReInSaNiTy1994 you got bank but you're pirating software? makes sense. lets see some videos of your evo and POS talon. what am i driving? are you too retarded to look at my videos of my evo on the dyno and messing around? 30k on ams parts....LMAO good job spending twice as much on parts because it has AMS stamped on it. thats if you even own an evo which i doubt

  • @05VIII email address?

  • @PuReInSaNiTy1994 why? post them on youtube. oh and write your name on a piece of paper next to them to prove you didnt just troll someone and steal their pictures. quite excited to see your evo that you have dumped 30k into. that thing must be running 9's with that much money. post up some videos of it too. oh, and my turbo alone cost more then your talon LOL

  • @PuReInSaNiTy1994 why don't you upload a video of your shit then? dick

  • haaha, u could make a dubstep song outta this

  • ok. THIS IS NOT COMPRESSOR SURGE. it is wastegate flutter. the way the ebc is setup is to constantly open and close in order to have the best possible boost control. my boost does not fluctuate. it stays at a constant 30psi all the way to red line. and yes the noise at 115 is the bov flutter but thats due to the wrong spring. it now has the correct spring for my inhg at idle. the WG still flutters but i will recirc the dump tube so it wont be heard anymore anyways. again,NOT COMPRESSOR SURGE

  • What is happening here is the compressor is surging past the surge limit.. basically the turbo is creating more pressure than the engine can swallow. The engine cant keep up with the pressure and that pressure its got to go somewhere and that somewhere is back into the turbo. Thats whats causing those hiccups at WOT. The noise at 1:15 is called flutter dump and that caused when the BOV opens a second too late,. usually do to it being too tight.

Again dont take my word for it. do Research!

  • I have this exact same issue on my 05 sti blouch Dominator 1 with a Tial 44mm dump'd, and running P&L 3-port boost control solenoid. I can manipulate it so I am close to my target boost (21 psi), but if I go into the throttle too much I get the wastegate flutter that is heard in this video. So if I am understanding 05VIII correctly, I can reduce the spring pressure to help reduce this flutter effect? Do I have to get a retune to compensate for a lower spring? Thanks!

  • @TooSlowTooLow increasing spring pressure should work. thats what i have been told by a few people. a retune should not be required but do some logs and keep an eye on your a/f just in case

  • @05VIII i meant increasing spring pressure in my last reply. sorry for the confusion. but talk to your tuner. chances are he can tune the flutter out so you wont have to take your WG apart.

  • @TooSlowTooLow this is flutter dump and compressor surge,. if your car is making this noise its not because the wastegate is failing to open. Its true that "shortening" the wastegate actuator arm by 1.5 to 3 turns can help solve wastegate flutter by adding a little bit of pre-load to the spring.. Wastegate flutter is the wastegate opening and closing rapidly 99% of the time between 10inHg and 0 psi (between 2k and 3k rpm part throttle).

don't take my word for it, do a search on NASIOC

  • @spiffyskater i have ZERO compressor surge. it is the wastegate opening and closing because thats how the ebc is controlling it. there is no arm to adjust on my wastegate because it is a Tial 38mm WG.

  • when this happens do you see any fluctuations in boost levels...I have the same thing happen to me on a 2.1l 1.8t and gt3082 with a tial wastegate...how did you fix it???

  • Dude you are getting compressor surge, it has nothing to do with the bov or wastegate, it is due to the wrong sized turbo, you need to get this checked asap or you will kill the turbo

You are also getting compressor flutter when you throttle off due to your BOV being too tight and not opening properly, this however is no big deal.

  • that is surge... Check your BOV. I had a bad BOV and my turbo started making that same noise.. 2 weeks later i started blowing smoke after every shift and had a mad blown turbo!!!

  • which bov u got bro? i love the sound!!!

  • sounds like a machine gun... then a laser gun. your car is from halo :P

  • once again kids...turbo flutter is just air exiting back out the turbo, nothing major.

  • @RsBl0gger91 "turbo flutter" is called compressor surge. so, "once again kid", this is wastegate flutter and not compressor surge or bov flutter. its a known issue with grimmspeed 3 port boost controllers. as posted before, it can be curred with redusing spring pressure or tuning it out. ill go with tuning it out this summer when its time for a new tune.

  • im no mechanic, but it sounds like compressor surge, and no bov, which are bad things on the turbo and engine, but dont take my word on it.

  • @Zebbulonn good thing you're not a mechanic! i actually run a TiAL Q 50mm bov which is one of the biggest and best flowing in the industry. My turbo also has a ported anti surge compressor cover which eliminates virtually all surge. jezzus did you not watch the video? didnt hear the big pshhh at the end of each shift hu?

  • @05VIII

if you reduse spring pressure it won't flutter at the full boost pressure... I had the same sounds in my cosworth, and I had an AEM truboost gauge, redused spring pressure, problem solved, and it went better
