I have been using it at 265 Degrees C with ABS for many weeks and higher with PC, and have not yet seen any degrading of the PTFE, it is all very well cooled with a small fan.
My hot end design is on my blog, see August.
The PEEK block stays below 40 degrees C at all times.
Where did you get a polycarbonate filament?

I am wondering about your hot-end. You're working way above 260°C, which is the temperature at which PTFE starts giving off some very nasty gases.
What is your hotend built from? Do you have more information?
