I think they are 2 different ghosts, they are seen talking to each other in the cabin when Hurley looks in.

yes christian shepard was the one on the chair in episode 1 of season 4 but in episode 20 season 3 u can also se jacob for a second and it is definatly not jacks father and no one has been able to decide who he is. i think that the person on the chair is the black smoke because the black smoke can turn into other people or creatures like the black horse in one of kates episode or yemi in ekos last episode. i think jacob is the eye that shows up every time when somone is in jacobs cabin.

Theres a theory i heard that the jacob in lost is refering to the jacob in the bible. and somone said that in the bible jacob only had 8 fingers and 8 toes. so it could be a statue of jacob that fell down or somthing.

The show reveals answers all the time, its just the answers end up making you ask more questions. Like what plywo pointed out, who the other's boss is, Jacob. Now, we know Ben answers to Jacob (or so it appears), but who exactly is Jacob?

when season 3 started out, people were all like "this season sucks", but as the episodes continued, people saw that the early episodes were important and the show was getting even cooler than season 1 nd 2. ive heard people bitchin bout season 4 already, but judging especially from endings from episode 3 nd 4, its just gonna keep getting better and better. I just hope Miles has a better reason to stop huntin Ben's than money

I know, not much happened for 10 episodes in season 1, other than them settling down. Stuff started happening in the finale, then quitened down after the 1st few eps of season 2. Since the finale of s2, there has been almost constant action, the most interesting questions have been posed: jacob, time etc, and there has been less filler episodes. Season 4 is pure action and is fantastic!
