  • ... nor to mention the bass licks ;-) ; Schlurpy!

  • The best album (x2) of Stevie. Pure music. Pure feeling.

  • The vocal destruction that begins at 3:25 Kills me every time.

  • amazing Song!!! Ive always loved it & the message!!! vocals beyond real!!!

  • This is such a fantastic song. The album was mostly ignored but there are a few gems, this being the best one on either disc. The message is so amazing and the music is awesome, towards the end when he said the seed is so small yet the heaviest of them all, then they chant until the end is like a spiritual experience. Remember when you look around at your life, you were once a tiny seed yourself and now look at you.

  • Great album

  • Hmm, the rhythm in the beginning was the root for Web Spider's stage music.

  • Simply brilliant. Such a sadly overlooked album!

  • WHOOOOO!!!!

  • The third voice you hear, after Stevie on the vocoder, is that of Tata Vega on the lyrics below. He was creative to feature her, even though back then (late 1970s) he could have "modulated" his voice to sound much like her... here she's "sounding" like him.

Tree - you are the longest

    living one we know

    the largest of all plants

    and still you grow

    Tree - within your branches

    there's such history

    so much of what we're

    searching for to know

    Love you, Tata!

  • Love, love, love Stevie's genius!

  • That is the best album ever made

    I mean it

  • a love album !!!

  • No amoeba12, I purchased it also. And loved it.

  • No amoeba12, I purchased it also.

  • Not true, amoeba12 - I have it on LP, tape and CD - I agree one of the best of all time, and my mother and my own grandchildren also have the same opinion!

  • Shure the music is great , Its stevie wonderfull :)

But these lyrics are even greater , they tell about the dogon tribe in africa who had alien visits about 3000years ago , the tribe knows so much about the universe that they must of had some help from outsiders...

  • @TUNEin2Bliss I saw a documentary about the Dogons : they have a huge knowledge in astronomy and 600 years ago there were little human beings who lived in the hills near the Dogon territory but they disappeared...

  • @chucku00 The Dogon had knowledge of some stars that were only visible with advanced telescopes.

  • @TUNEin2Bliss

Thanks for posting the source of the lyrics, because I bothered a Senegalese classmate about this song.

  • I adore this song.

  • I remember when i saw him in concert as he left the stadium i got close enough that i was tempted to yell "I loved Journey through the Secret Life Of Plants" I didn't though, I regret it now. I'm loving hearing it again after all these years.

  • 3:26 gets me every time

  • @marrowak28 I love it too, and 3:42-3:54

  • wat makes this a medley?

  • i really need to practice my sax if i want to play this

  • i member forever ... love

    om

  • Kia Ora out of this World Master Stevie but welcome to and Haere Mai to my world anytime welcome welcome welcome

  • 2:04 - 2:18 = precursor to "happy birthday"

  • @vandelay1029 I always thought that too! Haha.

  • EMS Vocoder 5000!!!

  • best song ever! :)

  • It's funky with a message! Would only that there were more like Wonder!

  • wow old memories come up....... nice..... love this music

  • A lot of the comments her echo a lot of my feelinga about this excellent Stevie Wonder project. Som of his most brilliant work, especially considering he plays a lot of the instruments also. It's a shame that after this Stevie tried to keep things too commercial.

  • JFYI - Every album (on the cover) Stevie Wonder has made has the title in "Braille" inscribed on it. If you have one, hold in to it, priceless...

  • @zblackrook The album had a perfumed scent on it also. Mine still has it after all this time, lol.

  • This one of the best songs by Stevie Wonder, but this album was not popular at all. I think that I was the only person to purchase it.

  • I bought this album the day it came out and I thought the same as you that I was the only one who bought it. Wonderful album.

    Hi

  • I have the CD. Thank God.

  • Many think that this album was a flop. I believe though that it went triple platinum not long after it was released. It may have passed a lot of people by but time has proved that this was their loss. All the best.

  • since when is triple platinum a flop??

  • @SteveArpo Disc One was quite wierd and inaccessible. Disc Two more than made up for it but I think a lot of people just made a snap judgement against it

  • @amoeba12 ... Yes this is one of the best songs, BY Steive Wonder or NOT by Stevie Wonder. No, you were NOT the only one to buy this album. Even though "Send One Your Love" was the best-known song from this soundtrack, "A Seed's A Star" is my favorite. Also, a DJ in San Francisco actually played it for the dancefloor in 1979 at the I-Beam Club in the Haight-Ashbury, back-to-back, with "There But For The Grace Of God Go I" by Machine. Real music.

  • @amoeba12 I love this album, it is my favourite.

  • @amoeba12 the single over shadowed the album I think. You know 'Send her your love'.& no, I bought a copy.well received it for my birthday.ha ha Stevie was already pro-green back then

  • @amoeba12 Nope my dad had it that's how i heard it lol!

  • @amoeba12 I was the other person

  • @amoeba12 I was the other

  • @amoeba12 No, I bought it, too.

  • One of the best of the less known Stevie Wonder songs!

  • @Toikkaroija especially at 04:21

  • stevie wonder, FABULEUX

  • David Rudder stole this music for the Wild Orchid Songtrack theme song. A B-Movie Soft Porn tragedy starring Mickey Rouke in the late 80's or early 90's.

I Knew that since back then! Don't think anybody noticed that to this day!

  • This used to be my favorite song back in 1979...Stevie can still jam!!!

  • Stevie is the best singer you will ever find. Who else do you know can actually play an instrument BLIND and STILL make the best sounding music you will ever here.

  • Lots of blind people make good musicians.

  • Would love to see the video for this performance!

  • Stevie wonder is the best ever!

  • no problem ! he is STEVIE WONDER !!!
