i hat when RAP takes place in good musik...that's no samba, no good musik, it is shit !!!!

  • Why in this stupid world people use their mediocrity to ruin a good song with unnecessary RAP... fucking hate that shit!

  • fat twat

  • Fuck You idiots who cant just chill and listen to music and enjoy it. All you ignorant cunts are good for is getting fixed on one opinion and trying to defend it. fucking hipsters. music is love and you idiots dont deserve to get in the taste of something that beautiful. Covering old songs is a way to honor the original artist.. just btw.. peace and love

  • This version lose the brazilian taste that was the best of this song :)

  • I prefer the classic version!

  • this preformence just ruined my day...

  • hey, that's progress right?? oy. oh well ...

  • Bien bien!

  • Great song! Many thanks for this upload from Serbia!

  • Eh. Updated. Could have done without the rap. Nice remix otherwise.

  • OTTIMO vero sapore del BRASILE

  • you have the original to love, now get down to see how others cover it. It's all good.

  • They messed up the song....i really love the original, no offense for those who like it i'm just sharing

  • shut up chubby skin -.-

  • Black Eyed Peas version is better than this ¬_¬.....theres nothing like the original though!

  • simply cracking sound ♥ I LOVE IT ♥ many thankx to the uploader !!

  • ME GUSTO MUY BUEN ARREGLO.MAS MOTIVANTE.

  • I love it its great...mediab2011

    Thank's!

  • ...... ruined............. fuk me

  • why do so many great songs have to have a fucking stupid rap crap version. this is total bullshit and it is a complete example of totally fucking up a great tune.

  • Joga Bonito :D

  • I love it its great...2010...

  • This version sucks, what a waste of talent.

  • Another timeless classic f*cked-up by a talentless hippity-hop crapper. why Sergio, why?

  • Comment removed

  • Of course the original is an undeniable classic. But musical styles don't stand still, each new generation brings their own sensibilities - high and lowbrow. I agree with the comment that this version and the the Black Eyed Peas version, brings this classic to a new generation. Even if the style seems moronic to us older fans of Samba.

  • They just fucked it up.....dickheads....

  • If they wanted to do this hip hop version live, the least they could do was to bring the B.E.P in :/

But of course, original is the best.

  • where can i get the full video of this song...it cuts too soon

  • barber1965...where can I get the full version...the video stops too soon

  • Should of killed the rapper. Tired.

  • to mix the classic music is not the same i accept that they want something new but c mon dont fuc with the original its more than a diss

  • good(^-^)

  • BTW, the older women singing is his wife Gracinha Leporace

  • First of all if you look at Sergio Mendes as an innovator you will see that he was the Will.i.am of his time. The version that Jorge Ben Jor recorded was quite different then that of Mendes.

Second, it shows why Mendes has stood the test of time, he works with the best. If you don't the Black eyed peas aren't fresh then take a time machine back to the 70's and stay there. The song is beautiful regardless of how it is interpreted. Just like we Brazilians.

  • I think that is sieta garrett singing

  • Does anyone know who the older blond lady is singing?

  • Remove the rapper, and then the song sounds decent!

  • His name is Sergio Mendes, not Sergio Mendez. It's a little incorrection.

  • Rap is crap-generally applies.

  • where can i find this version with this white guy?

  • That fat chrome dome ruined an iconic tune. I'm sure Sergio didnt have the heart to tell him he's being a selfish leach. Fat baldy has no class. Sergio is ALL class!

  • Is that Lani Hall??? I'm glad they still sang the Portugues lyrics coz if they only did the rap part, it would have been INCOMPLETE!!! Good beat though, I have to say. :)

  • feeling it!!!!!! great mix!!!!

  • Oh....my.....gosh!! What the heck did they do to this?? They totally messed it up. Turned it into today's garbage they call music. Thumbs down...triple thumbs down.:(

  • Mmm.... way to ruin a perfectly good song. Thumbs down.

  • He must did his own version, and not the BEP version...(I Think So)

Me encanta Sergio Mendes!!!! Saludos desde México!!

  • Too bad one of the original performance videos (of the 60s) got pulled by the sharks. Probably needed it to sell showcase Tym/Life CDs on Tv. But all you get is the music, not the videos. Ripoff!

  • The BEST!!!!!

  • a b s o l u t e l y fraking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! any chance that's on i-tunes? this particular version?

  • sergio mendes é brasil porra!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • totally wild. Love it !!

  • I like it

  • I like it

  • I like it

  • DIS IS A SO COOL, COOL version de Mais que Nada. The name of theh song somes from ROSA, a braziliam woman who used to say "Mais que Nada" every time she talked. POST THE FULL, yes, FULL VIDEO !!!!!!

  • hey barber the video stops to early where can I get the full video..thks

  • beautiful, fantastic version, congratulations, thank Sergio and all other

  • Great Sergio Mendes!!! Great new version! The new sounds can also be pleasent! Thanks for post!

  • This is interesting...Mais que nada hip hop version...this guy is also called Sergio Mendez?

  • That is THE Sergio Mendez on keys. This version is on his "Timeless" album which Will.iam had a heavy influence on, hence the "hip-hop" flavor.

  • Mendes*

  • what's more Brasilian than that? [2]

  • Fuck Rap

  • fuck!!original version cannot be hear again Jorge Ben sing with more beauty

  • This is the first RAP that I have ever liked. Just like he introduced me to Bossa Nova in 1968, in Bellingham, now he is introducing me to RAP that is palatable. Bravo!

    Thank You for this...

    Conchya in Seattle

  • one of the most great songs i heard

  • Is this in Rotterdam? North Sea ??? Of course it's rougher than the original, but everyone's having fun..what's more Brasilian than that?

  • Oh... the rap SUCKS!

The song doesn't need it, why do we have to stick this crap onto good music to make it palatable?

In a few years time this is going to sound more dated than the original...

    :(

  • FUCK THE RAP!

  • no 1

  • wuah...

    that's black eyed peas

  • Shame on Sergio, this is not his best version.

  • so wat ???? shame on u!!!u dont need to judge sergio's version!!!!!so FUCK U

  • Está muy bien, lo del rapero, hombre. Y esas chicas tan encantadoras.

  • it's okay, but really you don't need to do much to a song that wrote itself from the heart of a gurufim. The bells and whistles just obscure the essence of this beautiful song. obrigado

  • they fucked up the song of the GREAT Jorge Benjor. If I was Jorge Benjor I would sue their asses, for making this classic into a SHIT!!!

  • OH rap crap is right...shame what the record companies try to sell as AUTHENTIC...

Hey dude..I'll make some noise for you--how about a great big BOOOOOO and hiss cuz this version sucks,.,

if u want to see and hear real talent check out this vid

Al Jarreau - Steve Gadd - Mas Que Nada

  • @cesagabi hey what's the name of the original one? mas que nada??

i really want to listen it

  • @cesagabi a good music is a live music, music that serves its purpose...and both, the original and the BEP version are meant for joy, meant for dancing and there's the point.

But don't make it an art of autonomy, because it's not. And this music is meant to be live.

But in every age of human history there were conservative wannabe intellectuals with small or no knowledge about music making judgments, so I don't take your opinion from you and will respect that as a matter of individual taste

  • @cesagabi

    you got it wrong, brother..

real, timeless "evergreen songs" survive generations BECAUSE they get re-arranged in the style of the day...

  • @cesagabi Jorge Ben Jors version is better, no doubt. but this version brought brazilian samba to lots of young people. Thanks to the black Eyed Peas this song got famous a second time.

  • @cesagabi - Agreed!

  • @cesagabi wake up man we are in 2011 soon

    Pat

  • @cesagabi this music was most probably meant to live, and so it does. I won't take your opinion away from you as music and art is only - you like it or you don't. Saying that after years of music studies.

One's pose doesn't or at least shouldn't play any role in such decision. Open mind ...and if you still don't like it, be it so. Nothing good or bad about that.

  • @cesagabi ...easy, baby...this version is good too...

  • @cesagabi Agreed 100 %

  • who can tell me the meaning of "Oariá raiô Obá Obá Obá " plz:) thank you~

  • amazing!!amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sergio is cool timeless

  • Sergio is the most renown for this version of this Jorge Ben song. I love it, but who doesn't? Have you ever listened to Tito Puente's version. It's about 20 minutes long and when it's over, you'll feel that it was way too short. It had a 7 minute keyboard solo didn't have one repetitive or stale moment. I first heard it on a Philly jazz station and have looked everywhere and can't find it. If you do,get it. You won't be sorry.BTW. Thanks for this post.

  • thx for information~hope i could get it one day~

  • You are very welcome ESPERANZA850417. I'm still looking for it. I'll post it if I find it.

Good music without rapp.

I hate rapp. Even Ray Charles says rapp is not music.

  • crazy lady yelling at 0:12

and this video ended at the best part of the performance after suffering through the fatzo

  • Dang why'd they have to cut it at the end, just as Sergio was letting loose? Yah, the male rapper needs a cork.

  • This is a great version. Forget all you who don't like it. Age has nothing to do with it. Sergio is still as good as before if not even better!!!!! The audience likes it also!!!

  • Eye LOves Zitttt!!

  • wow you just assasinated the song with english....... original the best

  • Brasil 06?

  • "Mas que nada" belongs to Jorge Ben, the real talent and author of this song. Look for Samba Esquema Novo, his album from 1963. Everybody talks about Brazil 66, but that is pure Brazilian music for "gringos". Listen to the original Jorge Ben!

  • i'll take the original Sergio Mendez and Brasil 66, Nilo Koizumi's version, or Vanilla Mood's version anyday.

  • This version is a total Fuckup!

  • Love it.....great beat....fun, fun, fun....life is short, enjoy!!!

  • The original Brazil 66 version please!

  • disgraceful...

  • Sergio, why legitimize Black Eyed Peas? Your original version was great. This is overly basie for people who are too dumb to pick up the rhythm of a song without having it blow their friggin ears out.

  • I like the original better. It has a wistful subtlety to it that is completely absent here.

  • He is singing the Black Eyed Peas cover for the song. Though the orig is BETTER.

  • hahaha..cmon loosen up !!!...I luv the Sergios version from brasil 66,....but come on he's old and trying to revamp,...upgrade...reinvent...whatever u wanna call it...and he did it....of course in my personal opinion his 60's version kills this hip hop version no matter who is rapping..but wtf...music evolves...sometimes de-evolves...hehehe...I like to see him alive and doing well and playing his music in front of thousands of fans...they way he used to...so give him sum props! Lol!

  • Shut up you fuck face haters..

  • Fucking rap, awful version

  • Fucking rapper killed the song! Hate this version!

  • Is the blond singer one of the original girls on the '66 version? I hope it is. And no doubt, the fake rapper is just god awful. The band sounds great, and the tune is virtually the same except for fuck-o trying to be a black man. I get what Sergio is going for, but the execution is horrible. I may have liked it better with a real rapper, but even then... why?

  • Where's my vomit bag? This is atrocious...

  • yes... when you ask for Mas que Nada you have to ask for the "real one"... what a pity...

  • Reminds me of the time someone smashed Michelangelo's "Pieta" with a hammer. The only difference is that Michelangelo wasn't participating...

  • lmao...that was funny!!...

  • nothing beats the original.

  • i agree with u 100%

  • Ha ha ha... U got that right! Performance wise, I think Sergio sounds just as good as he did some 20, 30 years back, but this hit was intended for an elite audience back in the day...Guess he was attempting to revamp this song to attract a much younger audience today. Honestly, a hit this wonderful could sound just as good today even without the rapping.

  • what the fuck??

  • I love the '66 version, but actually, this version catches some of the vibrant Brazilian spirit, imo. It's a party all the time in Brazil, I think..lol.They know how to have fun. But, I agree, the rap guy could stay a little further back in the background.

  • Rap ruins everything, and yet the young people like it.

This version is awful, but Sergio Mendes will always be great.

  • Rap does not combine, it trashes out the original rythim.

  • The original was hypnotic, this version is nauseating.

  • dont be so stubbern pals..life goes on and the music too..the original is sexy this one is flexy..so what..let the good times roll

  • Sergio is selling out.

  • this was so painful :(

  • dude fucken white faat GUy

fucks up the fuckensong i love the

original one ....sergio mendes fucken rocks hes the best ...

  • boy is the fat white guy annoying when he's pleading with "sir-gee-oh" to " keep it funky". Bet sergio thinks he's annoying as well.

  • hehe true that lol :)bastard ...

  • Sergio must of liked his style to let him sing with him! if he thought he was annoying he would of said that he wasn't right for the song!!

  • Its a sad comment on how taste has coarsened in thirty years. The original was light, joyful, sexy, sophisticated, gently inviting and a celebration of life and Brazil. Here we have an obese white gorilla pretending to be a black gangsta rapper, shouting meaningless grunts at the audience. Check out the original with Brasil '66 - it is sheer genius. This is just noise. So sad.

  • I believe so 2! The classic version is the best...

  • i love rap. but this rap ruins this classic :(

  • I've watched Sergio Mendes playing Mas Que Nada with Brasil '66 in the 60's, with Brasil '88 in the '80's, and in 2006. Each of the interpretations, even though they are played by the same person's band, reflect the style of the period they are in.

And isn't it so that the '66 one was better?

  • It peeves me when rappers piggy-back on people's classic songs and sing shit. Am I the only one?

  • E X C E L E N T E

    muy bien "primo"

  • jorge ben jor é o máximo!

  • the blond one looks very SADDDDDDDDDd

  • Nice, but I like the original much better. Is that Lani and Janis?

  • ¡Muy buen video!

  • AMO ESTA CANCION!!!
