Having lived in Denmark this year, I can say that this sounds a lot like Danish. Except they don't sound like they have six golf balls in their mouths.
They should really make that into a show. I certainly would rather watch it than who wants to be a millionaire, and it would have a much lower budget! That's what we call a win-win situation right there!
@SonjaElen Nothing in it sounds like Danish. The few words that had a scandinavian ring to it sounded Swedish. Other than that, it gibberish sounds like a 75-25 mixture of Swedish Chef from Muppet Show with Dutch-ish.
@elbassie It does not bother me that the only reason you are upset is because you don't really get the regional humor, however I would like to point out that calling someone "retarded" is in itself very ignorant.
Interesting. Is this really what Americans think Dutch sounds like? To me, as a Dutchman, this sounds rather more like an imitation of an Austrian language of some sorts.
That is so true. They could be speaking Swedish or Finnish and we'd never know. We in North America just don't get enough exposure to these languages to be able to discern the difference.
The difference doesn't matter. The joke of the sketch derives from the fact that we don't know what they're saying. It's punctuated with a couple of recognizable words like "meat" and "steak" and "in specifica...". It doesn't make a difference if it's a real language or not.
@brandydeshayzer You'd think that, with a sizable amount of (descendants of) Dutch people living in Canada, they could've gotten themselves an advisor...
@darkb4lightt --Sort of, but it's the same character he played in the Daryl sketch in the first or second season, where Daryl is a Big Brother to an 8-year-old. Scott played an old man who owned an antique shop, and Daryl takes the kid to visit him. "And he says if we visit him seven more times-only seven more times-he will show us his toy soldiers collection!"
That old man is my favorite character Scott ever played, and yeah, it's pretty much the same charachter as "Sausages!" Great voice for a decrepid old man.
Haha! The Daryll guy on the left is the one from "Painting with the Inner Child", right? And the old dude on the right is the one from the sausage sketch?
Four crazy Canu... er, Canadians, one of whom went on to appear in News Radio? Barely. It was on very late at night here in the UK. Cool theme tune though...
it's awesome, but not Dutch - I know, I am Dutch :) In fact, I don't recognise any of it, it's a mock fantasy language of some European languages thrown together (language-wise, I crack up at "Disastür zun Rhine" the most :)

Those descendants are like, 12th generation by now. I don't remember there being any huge explosion of immigration by a Dutch population recently.
Also, its a sketch-comedy show. I don't think they really cared :D
