@enyrb Of the four former De Dannan front men, Maura is the only one who lives in the US, (the rest residing in Ireland, where this was recorded). I'm sure that she flew in, just in time for the "sound check", before the performance. She was most likely a little confused as to how many bars the musicians were going to carry through the bridge.
This is great but IMHO it's topped by Kate & Anna McGarrigle and friends (Rufus Wainwright - son of Kate -, Emmylou Harris, Mary Black, Karen Matheson, Rod Paterson) perform Stephen Foster's Hard times come again no more during the Transatlantic sessions. It is on youtube...
Though we know we are helpless to prevent them, and we understand our plea will go unanswered, we ask, we pray, we beg, hard times come again no more.
I think it's my favorite version of the song. #1, I love Mary Black and Eleanor Shanely. Also, I love how an Irish Traditional group can so easily do a american traditional song. You can really see... or rather, hear the lineage!

Saddened yet beautiful
Are the unearthly voices
that must be pouring out
deep down from their souls.
Ah, when shall my desire end
to have their exquisite voices
keep resonanting in my ears
and hearts?
Salute to each of the beautiful singing souls!
