@APRINCESSTALE Vercingetorix Mate, and yes, he was a true Celtic Hero of Gaul, but the Celts of Britain would not be so forgiving or easy to conquer, the Picts and Scoti, ,the Bretons, the Gaels of Ireland, were never conquered, and Rome gave up, England (Angleland) Was taken by the Angles and the Saxons, but what is known as Scotland and Ireland have never been conquered, and never will ;)
@GoldenAxe Very true. At the end of Rome, the Angles and Saxons. Puritans and any enemy of the Celtic has failed in its attempt to erase the memory of Celtic history. so much so that someone like us we are aware of these heroes remembered. In my novels and stories Celtic as part of my indentity
Only person Caesar had left. His first wife was dead and his mother and daughter and grandchild all died the same year. There are no direct descendants of Gaius Julius Caesar.
@chloebella17 welll Caesar was uncle to a woman how was his Nicee..and she had 2 kids Gaius Octivian och one girl I thougt. (her name I dot rember but she had a kid with General Marcus Agrippa..thought they could never married..becasue she was married to Marc-Anthony) and Gaius was later know as Gaius Octaivian Caesar..later olny Caesar..in the last Caesar Augustus...Caesar after Gaius Julius Caeasr.
The idea of officers on horses, banners, saluting and all those military traditions had a real practical purpose.
Elevated positions on horseback and unit banners were used to see over the battle and direct the units - making command and cavalry mobile elites.
Saluting evolved when knights had face visors. Depending on the chevrons worn, the junior knight would first raise his visor to the senior and identify himself. The senior would then do the same.
Also in "Rome" series they had Julia die in 52 instead of... the real year (54?) But, of course, in movies they usually only show Alesia, thus everything has to take place during that year...
By the way, I didn't get at which point of the film Caesar and Calpurnia get married; but I don't understand English well, so perhaps I just missed some crucial words.
the guy on 2:05 he was the one who Act as Julius Caesar in BBC history.. he is more greater actor of Caesar than the Caesar portray on this movie...

"I give you my own life, so that my men live." Gaul or not. That is Great Warrior.
To give yourself for your men. Would be unheard of today.

Pompey was absolutely destroyed after Julia's death, the baby died a few days later. Very very sad :(

@muf321 Death would been a better option compared to being locked in a dungeon, torture, and slavery.

Sorry for double post but...
It seemed to me that they used stirrups in this film, even though I couldn't really see them. Until now. A stirrup is clearly visible at 4.01.

horses are far more needed than women and children in a time of war. its mobility and advantage in height can make a difference in a battle
sweetasflip 1 year ago
@ANCHORSaweighMYboys They need a cavalry to fight and see over the battle.
fuzzywuzy 1 year ago
@fuzzywuzy yea but even if you win a battle and hav lost ur culture, and family than wat was the point of winning?
ANCHORSaweighMYboys 1 year ago
@ANCHORSaweighMYboys I think, in the movie, their reasoning was that someone had to survive - to preserve their gods or culture.
