If air is pulled in the bottom and pushed out the top, you will get bass cancellation. At low frewuencies (say 5Hz) this would happen, but at say 50 Hz, the top portion is delayed by the tuned box, so they should both push air out and pull air in at the same time when the cabinet is in its working range.
Asd far as i know it is still quite a new speaker. I was genuinly surprised at the quality of sound. I used no cross over and went in to the bass and out to the top. At home i used the active X over and the sound was crisp.

I have yet to use the 18". I used to have a load of band pass OHM BR218, would be good to see/ hear any diference.
