you need to get a life, besides you know just as well as i do that iowa would have won that game if stanzi didnt get hurt. and you need to do some research about bowl games because iowa will drop no further than the outback bowl... even if they lose the next 2 which is unlikely to happen.
Go cry to somebody else! Your overrated and overblown Hawkeyes LOST! Stop making excuses!! They were living on borrowed time, couldn't dominate a team and got lucky a half dozen times. They were overdue to lose. Now they're looking at getting their asses kicked in Columbus! And Minnesota will come into Kinnick and win. Welcome to the Alamo Bowl you fucking losers!! BOO FUCKING HOO!!!
Wah Wah! Overrated Iowa lost! Realistically Iowa should have 3 or 4 losses right now! They are not a great team. Simply a good team that has gotten lucky. Wah Wah!
Just happy that Iowa is now ranked where they should have been ranked all along. By the way, Northwestern had to use their backup quarterback most of the game so blaming Iowa's loss on Stanzi's injury is just bullshit. If Northwestern can win with their backup quarterback, why can't Iowa? Do you need some more Kleenex to wipe your tears? BOO FUCKING HOO!
Watch the game again. Northwestern's second string quarterback played quite a bit against Iowa. Vandenberg came in for Stanzi after Stanzi got hurt. What game were YOU watching?
Most backup quarterbacks put in the same situation, surrounded with the talent Iowa has, would have led the Hawkeyes to victory over a crappy Northwestern team. Nebraska put a true freshman in for two games in the middle of their conference schedule and won both games. It can be done. Vandenberg didn't get it done. Very simple.
And your point is? What does Zach Lee throwing four picks against Iowa State have to do with what we're discussing? My point was that Nebraska's backup qb delivered. Iowa's didn't.
yeah, id love to see nebraska go up to the horseshoe and beat ohio state with the rose bowl on the line lol, they couldnt even show up to beat an iowa state team...
I think you'd better go back and rewatch the tape of Nebraska's game against Iowa State. Nebraska totally dominated that game. Because the Huskers turned the ball over 8 times, that cost them the game. I know of no team that can win when they give the other team the ball 8 extra times, yet Nebraska only lost by two points. Most teams would have lost that game by 3 or 4 touchdowns. With Nebraska's defense, they would have stayed right with Ohio State, just like they did with Texas.
If Nebraska has even a hint of offense, they should beat Arizona. Nebraska's offense looked pathetic against Texas and they almost beat them. I'm actually looking forward to the end of the bowl game because I honestly believe that Nebraska will fire their offensive coordinator and their O line coach the very next day. I cannot wait for that!
They didn't get murdered. I looked at the stats from the game and Nebraska outplayed Tech in every aspect of the game-offense, defense, first downs, yardage, time of poss. Turnovers and penalties killed Nebraska in that game. On the season Nebraska came within 4 points of going 13-1. Not bad for a second year head coach who is stuck playing the previous coach's players who were recruited for the west coast offense. Wait until Pelini gets his recruits on the field!
The O-Line at Iowa and his TE and above average receivers and backs had a LOT to do with his success. Early in the season Iowa State was 7-1 and it looked like Seneca Wallace from Iowa State would run away with the Heisman. Strange to see two quarterbacks and teams from the state of Iowa get so much national recognition as both teams were in the top 10 at one time. I wonder what kind of season the Hawks would have had with him at QB. He had what Banks had plus a lot more.
i donno senneca was a better runner but banks was a better passer, and iowa throws the ball more than ISU back in those days. bbanks was like 1st in the nation that year in passer rating and he had the lowest TD to INT ratio of any QB.
Brad Banks was a better passer than Seneca Wallace? I guess the NFL disagrees with you on that one. I think that they understand the O-line differences. Why are people so stupid as to not understand the benefits of a great offensive line? Brad Banks was well protected and had a more balanced running game because of a great O-line. Most of it went to the NFL. Plus Dallas Clark. How many people from ISU went to the NFL on that whole ISU team. How did none of you see Seneca will ISU to beat Iowa?
i was at that iowa isu game...its kind of hard to argue with the numbers, banks arm is what got him the davey obrien award. if it wasnt for senneca's feet he wouldnt have been mentioned much and i doubt iowa state would have been 7-1. how often does he throw the ball in the NFL? not that often and for good reason.
i agree with bigdadday we shoulda won all those games tht we lost, and we need some good recruits but it isnt happening, i like wut ricky stanzis got tho, hes a playmaker
wtf did you not see #23 this season he is the only reason we did good at the begining of the year. stanzi did turn into a playmaker. but it took him til the PSU game to do it

even if we had brad banks we wouldnt have won every game, kirk ferentz isnt a very good coach as we all know and is totally overrated, hes hurt us a lot this season
what are u talking about ferentz is a good coach look how they finished the season they had 4 loses by a combined total of 12 points that tells me that they were competitive in every game they played i think all of that reflects coaching u dumbass
only one of the losses was his fault, he let jake christiansen play the second half against pittsburgh, and that lost us the game, if you actually watched any of the iowa games, youd know that the reason we had those losses was cause of ken o keefe, the offensive coordinator
what are you talking about the only reason we lost so many games is because we had a young quarterback. retard lefty didn't know how to get the ball to an open reciever without it hitting the ground first so don't blame ferentz. if you want to blame someone blame okeef. he is the most predictable coach and runs the same plays 10 times a game
Man, I remember this game, it was like pick up football, big play after big play. Clark's huge TD run off that dump pass, the blocked field goal returned for a TD, Bank's run.
brad banks was awesome! lol that team was naaaaasty!! lol i miss that guy, if only he was like 6'3" and had a better arm he'd be the new (non-convict) michael vick
Too bad Crouch couldn't throw the football like Brad. Don't get me wrong; Crouch was an amazing open-field runner, but he was an average passer at best.
Banks never had the arm to play in the NFL, thats why he wasn't ever drafted. He is in the Canadian football league nowadays. As far as McNutt, I think he has the potential to be a quarterback very similar to Chuck Long, but he just isn't ready yet. He is too new the the system and doesn't have the reads yet. brad banks was really good, but towards the end of the season the heisman race was so tight, no one was really sure who would win it, but then Palmer had a great game against a ranked Notre Dame team that was supposed to have a top notch defense. it also didn't help that in the Orange bowl Carson and USC ended up beating Iowa pretty bad

We should have went to the Rose Bowl in 02, we would have beaten Washington State. Even though Iam an Iowa fan I did agree with the Heisman votes. I think we were just happy to be there and didnt practice all to hard and it showed. Yeah Im pretty sure the 2 Iowa boys on that team have SB rings and another keeps Carson Palmer safe on the O-Line.

He is a free agent in the NFL. He had brief stints with the redskins and the CFL.
Not too shabby for a guy that was a JUCO. He just didn't have the height and size needed for the NFL.
He was an exciting player though. Our first dual threat QB.
