That they would not be able to face the dire consequences of their acts. They didn't listen. They formed militias and decided to take over territory. Then the Serbs had to respond, in a professional fashion. Next thing you know muslims cry all over the place claiming genocide and ethnic cleansing when they are the one's who started it.

And if you really think that because Tito's regime was usefull to the west while Stalin feared Tito's influence that it make's it so post-cold war, you really need to rethink your entire socio-politics.
