@tromboista go to moscow, you'd be surprised. i live in la, and nobody dresses worse. they don't go out in sweatpants and a dingy t-shirt. even to a store.
Yeah Putin looks stiff and awkward. I guess that's what happens when you grew up a Commie and achieved the rank of KGB chief. Paul's song is awesome. Putin is a deadbeat.
@bellanix2 He's not dead! That "Paul is Dead" rumor was a publicity stunt to help The Beatles rebound from their slump in popularity after John made those religious remarks that got the whole group in trouble.
On the 15 th second there is Putin to be seen. I never believed this could happen in my lifetime-a Western group rocking the Red sq. for this music was banned in the Eastern block as being "decadent" and "immoral". And now I'm so glad to see this happy audience. But I feel sorry for the parents of these kids who could not experience all this when they were young and wanted to...
Most of this song actually references Chuck Berry's "Back in the USA". Only the chorus references the Beach Boys style (and a bit of "Georgia On My Mind").
The Beatles werent poking fun at the beach boys, they loved the beach boys and were honoring them. Paul said if it wasnt for Pet Sounds there would be no sgt peppers!!!
The beatles pokin fun at the beach boys was not as funny as Hendrix owning the beatles when he covered their song one day after it came out, He was like what is this simple stuff
@WID7 He honored Paul McCartney by playing that song because he was at Jimmi's show. After he played the song Hendrix walked up to the mic and said "I say, wonderful it is man". If Hendrix hated the Beatles he wouldn't have gotten the album the minute it came out.

@Doolian123 mccartney played the song twice, during his live in red square concert, therefore the second version is a reprise, but im not sure if this the first or second he played
@kells1001, which government was scared of Sir Paul? (Actually The Beatles at the time). I doubt the Russians were, John, Paul, George and Ringo could see the benefits of communism, they weren't against it!! We had comunes in most western countries (in the hippy era), on paper communism seems very good but the power and wealth is never distributed equally. This song is very Beach Boy style and purposly so. Material wealth was not cool, sharing and giving was!!
Moscow was the capital ot the USSR / Soviet Union back in the cold war days. So I guess this song was the one Paul just HAD to perform in the Red Square. Apparently even twice.
Its amazing example of the power of music. Gosh do you think the government ever feared Paul McCartney. No matter how much things change some things always stay the same.
@cualkieras yes, and it's exactly the same instrument--not even a copy- that Hoffner bass has a long history with Paul...it just used to look slightly different with the white pick guard which paul removed.
Also today if you look at it, It's got 3 kinda small but noticeable sctraches on the bottom where the pick guard used to be. I think it was where he dropped it..
@bombay55100 it is the exact same bass guitar he played in the Beatles- it's always been his bass guitar, probably always will be. Electric guitar and other guitars and stuff- not really the same- though he sill uses right hand acoustic guitars and turns them around even though he's a lefty just because he's used to it..really all that's the same is his bass and the fact he still plays piano and occasionally drums
Moscow girls make pretty much any heterosexual men sing and shout. Come and keep your comrade warm indeed! God bless the Beatles, the mightiest force for good, bar none, in my 53 yo life.
The bald fellow ti the left of Putin is the Mayor of Moscow and the guy on the right is a singer that had a similiar band in the USSR that was the Soviet equivilent to the Beatles.
