  • shocked !

  • toured with ozzy awesome

  • Wow, Bolton looks and sounds like David Coverdale here.

  • this rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • great band

i've never heard that bolton was a rock singer

    he really can scream..

  • 70's rock drummers were only taken serious if their kit included a 50'' Chinese gong.

  • Awesome love the sound the vibe this band should get together again... ive searched decades looking for something on these guys... thankyou..

  • bolton was also in band called "joy"- they did two 45s

  • I didn't know about Blackjack, but I knew Bolton rocked in 1983. I have that album on vinyl. On this song I can hear his Soul sound of the 90s. 1979 had Foreigner, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, KIss, Journey. Too much competition for this band to break thru.

  • I had the 1st album but lost it and Ive' been looking for their 2 albums on cd but still can't find it,every song on the 1st album were classic's, it only had 2 ballads and one of those had a lynyrd skynyrd southern rock sound to it, their sound has a mix of Bad Company, 38 Special, AOR with early Whitesnake band jamming, Bolton almost sounds like mid 80's Coverdale meets young Paul Rodgers. It just rocks.

  • Black Jack sounded very close to the early Whitesnake... In fact, they was like an american version of WS. Michael Boltom even looks and sound a lot like David Coverdale, at that time... Nice!!!

  • Had the pleasure of seeing them live in at the Youngstown Agora. Memories...my friends and I played pinball with Michael.

  • I didn´t know Bruce Kulick had worked with Michael Bolton... Great video. I love Bruce!

  • this promo video makes me cry like those damn people at michael jackson concerts!! OH MY!!!

  • I think Kiss made Bruce Kulick shave is upper lip i read some where

  • ah bolton doing something awesome!

  • I have a promo poster, both viynl albums and the 20 trk cd! Seeing this promo is awesome. \m/

  • The ONLY time Michael Bolton did anything worth calling amazing...

  • i say WOW! im gonna get Anthology asap! Bruce is awesome and Michael voice's pretty nice, great music :)

  • Great band, sounds pretty awesome! Bruce rules!

  • WOW!! SINGING AT THE SAME TIME!!!!

    CB

  • That's for the introduction to Black Jack~where Michael Bolton first started out~this is entering my playlist as the start of Michael when he was Rock~thanks~

  • AtariMan76, if Michael Bolton ever does a heavy rock album like his '83 album, I'm buying it!

  • dam~michaels is a hot man~wow~lane

  • These 2 songs kick ass! I wish they were on itunes! I guess I'll have to get the CD.

  • yea, im gonna get anthology too

  • Michael bolton looks hot here..

  • There's a rumor that Michael Bolton might do a heavier Rock album with a Country flare. At least if that's the case, that means he's revisiting his days as a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Artist.

  • THIS IS GOOD SHIT!

  • Yeah, a reunion. That'll be a good idea.

  • i've got the cd reissue-2 albums on one disc. I met Bruce a 2 years ago (now with Grand Funk Railroad),he's one of the nicest guys. Their music here ehhhhhh.....

  • I'm 22 years old.

This Video, this type of music "REAL" is just Great to hear. and since i didn't know Blackjack existed It's Brand New To Me !!!

P.S. Seeing Bolton like this is also GREAT !!!

  • But leave the moustache ON and have many hours of tearful laughter!

  • Take the moustache off, and Bruce looks EXACTLY like he did 5 years later when he joined KISS in 1984, hair and everything.

  • Thanks for posting this document!!!

  • I actually have the Blackjack record. The packaging was very cool. Big deck of cards with a fold up top. Very nice.

  • bolton now as ever has always been amazin but i ahve to say i never new this existed

  • I own this album and it rocks!!!

  • The film part kinda reminds me of Spinal tap , but really great seeing these songs , Great stuff!

  • I think record production and recording peaked in the 70s before any of the digital stuff. Digital reverb and drum machines changed it in the early 80s and it's never really recovered IMO. This is pure engineering and production skill making this sound good, instead of a bunch of procesing and computer editing- vocal correction, drum replacement, etc, etc.

  • The bass player looks like the guy from Spinal Tap

  • Haslip never had a really cool look :-) He went on to become one of the most successful studio bass player. He was a founding member of jazz giants Yellowjackets (he is still with them). Over the years, he played with lots of guys including Michael Bolton, KISS, Bruce Hornsby, Pat Metheny and Cher.

  • cant believe that its burried..bolton should've cherished himself being part of this band..because this one really ROCKS

  • Classic stuff!!!

  • Michael Bolton actually rocked once. Bruce Kulick, like his brother Bob, always rocked!

  • I've never been able to track down the Blackjack material from Bolton's "rock" career and was curious to hear it. Thanks for posting it!

  • Watching these 2 majestic videos was like a trip back in time....to when music had soul and a meaning...

  • I have the 20 song CD of their first two albums on one disc. This album would have been a classic if Bolton had not found ballads.

  • dude, you should post some viedo clips with songs, even if they just have black text with the song title. it's impossible for people to get this stuff, that would be awesome.

  • This kind of reminds me of Coverdale/Whitesnake. It's cool.

  • Michael bolton is my idol. I have a life-size cut out of him. I lay it next to me in bed and kiss it every night before I go to bed. His rendition of "When a man loves a woman" brings a tear to my eye everytime. I don't care when people call him a "no talent assclown".

  • Wow this was when Bolton was actually cool

  • Was there a video for 'Maybe It's The Power Of Love'?

  • Not that I can find. The band had already broken up by the time My World is Empty Without You was released as the first single, so I'm assuming there's no video for either one.

  • Kulick rules.. Bolton is a linger...

  • It reminds me a lot Whitesnake from the first albuns, like "Lovehunter", "Ready an' willing", "Trobule" and other ones...

  • OMG its sandy OMG LOOK AT HIS HAIR!!

  • LOL, I know - Sandy looks like a little girl. Hits drums like a man, though!

Gennaro is a killer drummer with a long list of creds.

Jimmy Haslip is just chillin' and 'playing for the song' on these cuts, but he's simply a freak on bass.

...and everyone knows that Mike and Bruce are both enjoying stellar careers.

Reminds me of the Edgar Winter Group classic 1972 lineup, where every member later went on to mega-stardom on their own.

  • Where are you now Freddie Hayan?

  • BlackJack kicks asses! they could really be r'n'r superstars! Kulick and Bolton Rules!!!

  • awesome never seen without your love vid before

    KULICK ROCKS !!

  • wow, bolton was actually talented at one point! this was a pretty rockin band i must say

  • SO awesome ... Bolton and Kulick are so damn talented.

  • Yeah, but it's too band bolton's style of music went to shit

  • i agree, but a lot of artist start out with one style and then they switch, cause they know they can get sign or someone will make them a offer if they switch over. look @ kenny rogers he started out playin rockin roll. but i agree with u though.

  • F'n mint! The A&R guy in the limo is a total doofus but this vid is priceless. Blackjack definitely rocked and was the best thing Bolton ever did.

  • by the way, Bolton's real name is Bolotin. That's how he appears on this album. I have it in my collection. He changed his name after leaving the band.

  • I think Michael Bolton should've stuck with hard rock after Everybody's Crazy came out.

He actually had a voice meant for heavy metal!

  • great combo! i didnt know about this band. bolton great voice!!!kulick he became a better player with kiss

  • Very cool seeing some early Bruce Kulick work.

  • Check out Bruce Kulick on early CREAM Power trio "KKB"... Google Bruce Kulick KKB for the web site

  • Thanks you so much for posting this. It really is fantastic

  • Awesome, what can I say? I never dreamed to watch a Blackjack Video. You tube is the best.

  • wow thanks for posting this video.

from a happy michael bolton fan. xxx

  • Michael Bolton (bolotin?) did two solo records as well before going adult contemp. He really pushed his vocals and played some guitar. Anyone recall Everybody's Crazy? He was on Rockline talking about this project

  • Yes...you can see the "Everybody's Crazy" video elsewhere on youtube. Although Bruce Kulick (from Blackjack) was the guitar player on the song, he is not in the video as he was touring with KISS at the time.

  • I felt Michael's voice was well suited for rock, but a bit more so on his solo effort then shown here. He did play guitar on those two albums? I had a hard time recalling the video, but I seem to recall a blurb in Hit Parader magazing saying he got his start VERY early on.

  • In case of name Bolotin? This is Michael Bolton's real name which he changed after leaving the band.I have this album in my collection and it says pretty clearly-voals,Michael Bolotin.

  • Wow...I never even knew this was out there. Great vintage footage! Thanks for posting!

  • My son is now learning drums from a drum instructional DVD starring Sandy Gennaro, the drummer in this band.

  • Sandy's a total pro. I think he's touring with Bo Diddley now.

  • Excellent video and extremely rare one. Thanks for posting it!
