I couldnt agree more. Sheet metal wins hands down, but most people dont have a budget of $15,000.00 plus to aircondition their home. 95% of domestic houses in Australia use flexible duct for this reason. Good point though, thanks for the feedback
Most people don't size the ducts large enough in a "spider system" and you have air flow problems. Personally I don't like them. If you use the good ole Trane ductulator, read the fine print. it is for round sheet meatl duct. Flex duct has more resistance to air flow. If you size the flex properly, you can get good air flow. I would install volume dampers just in case!
You can easily run 15 metres with flexible duct. you are correct. Sheet metal does perform better but is triple the price. You will get approximately 10% better performance from your sheet metal
