I wish America could be more like this today. No heinous criminals getting off free because someone forgot to read them their Miranda rights, or even worse, a criminal suing a homeowner who injures them and winning. Also noone mentioned this but I would liek to mention this some people were saying that hanging on a tree refers to blacks and jews that were hung long time ago this is however not the case although lynchings did happen to them it happened to regular criminals too before they had the electric chair and the painless needle they use in the present and an Oak tree was strong and sturdy hanging was like the death penalty for horrible crimes like murder would you rather he say burn at the stake?

Machiavelli said that a disarmed society is an oppressed society. Why should a responsible adult not have the right to protect themselves? Criminals will get guns whether they're legal or not. Meanwhile the authorities we trust to bear arms shoot thousands of people every year in foreign wars and ignore what's going on at home. Has gun control stopped gun-crime? No, Would an armed society lead to polite government? George Washington thought so.

Yah, but having guns was our right. We where told by the founding fathers to own them and use them if we have to. Not only against criminals, but against the government if need be. Criminals will always have them. . The laws we made back in the day still fit today. God got taken out of schools, guns harder to get to name a few things...and look now .school shootings, gang violence,rapes, murders...they started taking the great things we stood for away only to replace them with "evil". Thats why.

Gun control goes to the root of a free society; an oppressive society believes that the average person is too stupid to safely own a gun. If that's true, then education should be the answer; we teach children to be safe with knives and not to play with fire. Adults who aren't safe with blades or matches go to prison. Firearms training in schools would clear up most gun crime by removing the mystery from guns. What are we, sheep who need herding or rational people responsible for ourselves?

Really, most people are too stupid to have a gun. They give everyone else who owns a gun a bad name. They should have some kind of control - something that makes sure you know how to safely use, store, and keep a gun. That way, less idiots would have access to guns, so we'd be safer, but people who are gun-smart would still be able to keep theirs.
And believe me, most people are not rational. Most people are just sheep - that's why I suggest having some test to qualify you for owning a gun

And of course a gun is a weapon. That's the whole point; why should we not have weapons? The political ramifications of a disarmed populace are profound, read up on Machiavelli or George Washington. Machiavelli observed that it is not reasonable to expect an armed man to respect an unarmed man; how then can an armed government treat a disarmed populace with respect? The police in England never used to be armed, and they had a hell of a lot more respect for the populace.

That's why we need activists - people who will make sure that the tests are fair, and that people who are responsible with guns can keep their guns. The problem of the government making tests too difficult is far less than the problem of the government outlawing guns. If we can deal with the big problem, we can deal with the little one.

Like I said, education; basic firearms training for all, stringent tests to ensure that a person is safe to own a gun. I'm not advocating complete deregulation, but a change in attitude and approach; the assumption should be that an adult is responsible enough to decide if they want or need a gun. If people are sheep, its because they're treated like sheep by an armed elite; notice that the governments who tell us we can't have guns are themselves heavily armed.

I agree with gun education but, the "armed elite" part is a bit paranoid and silly. Many recent revolutions were mostly bloodless. Remember the Soviet Union? It's called Velvet Revolution. Some people will do anything to keep control. Americans will never again experience a large, violent revolution as long as we maintain our direction of equality for all. Guns, alone, do not kill people. They do help kill more people, and faster, though. Do not deny the intended purpose of the design.

I was running short on space; by "armed elite", I meant the government. Think on; who has the guns, who enacts gun control, and who in fact shoots the most people? The government, in all three cases. Compare gun crime figures to war casualties; if we took the guns from the army and gave them to crack-heads, the number of shootings would fall. So what's the moral basis for an armed government disarming its people and then waging foreign wars?

You're assuming that just because someone is an adult, they're responsible enough to hold a gun. Personally, I would as much trust a random American with a gun as I would a random monkey. Do you know how ridiculed Americans are by the rest of the world? We are some of the most idiotic cultures in the world. We follow Hollywood more than wars. We value a celebrity scandal more than a political election. We value sports over a presidential inauguration. You can't tell me you'd trust us.

Try this; soldiers are called "grunts" because as a general rule, they're stupid. So stupid people can be safe with guns. Its ignorant people who are dangerous. You can't cure stupid, but you can cure ignorant; firearms training in school would improve gun safety across the board, reducing gun crime.

I don´t think he is. He is good, but compared to the older guys, TK is quite cheezy and much shallower. He has very good stuff though. I respect your oppinion. Anyway, compared to Cash or Kristofferson many good guys seem "shallow"; those guys were (KK still is) poets.
