Hey thanks for this vid! Hmmm Caribous.... Gonna miss these ugly buggers. Apparently their short field performance is so good and they can be flown so close to stalling that our aviation mob (CASA) banned them from civilian use! Too easy to screw up a beta landing I guess. Full width flaps, a massive vertical and horizontal tail = lots of control at low low speeds. And nothing but a new-build version of them or the buffalo can match the performance! Chinooks are replacing them.
my first landing was left main first, back airborne, nose wheel, back airborne, both mains (boom!), then finally the nosewheel... i didnt even have half an hour of flight time yet and the instructor trimmed for 65 knts, put the flaps down, and didnt touch the controls until we got of the runway- then he explained what porpoising is......and how we almost died...
..And they're out of service now...Damn sad...love the sound of those piston engines...

Thats easy, all you have to do is put the nose wheel down first! Kidding of course, and full respect to the pilot.
