  • Guys, he has a slight lisp. It's cute. He's gay. When he sings, he sounds different than when he speaks. It's who he is. There's nothing wrong with it. I stutter. It's cute. I'm bi. I sound different during singing and talking too. It's natural. Get over it. Rufus is amazing and always will be. That's all we need to focus on.

  • Whatever...man's got the best hair of anybody in 20 years, but he couldn't seem to pull off a decent note with that Fisher Price microphone! gotta love it..:) he does have a slight lisp, but i can't imagine Rufus without one.. makes him sound sweeter and more gentle. He doesn't often sing with it either, but I like the rare occasions when he does. Just part of who he is.

  • If you guys sit and think about it.. Everyone's singing voice sounds different than their speaking voice.. Elongated words are of course, going to sound different than the average, spoken word.

    Just thought I'd point out the obvious like everyone else has done, but with mine, there's a hint of rhetoric.(;

  • Why is it that this guy always looks unwashed? So many people today have that dirty hair look going on and scratching themselves during an interview.

  • His singing voice is way way different to how he sounds talking. Weird.

  • (L)_(L)

  • im gay and dont have a lisp

  • Rufus does NOT have a lisp!! He is adorable!! Why do you say all gay guys have a lisp??

  • that broad is as annoying as kathy griffin

  • I am not sure if there is such a thing as a 'straight' voice. But don't worry about people's voices. Or what they choose to do in bed. There are far more important things to be preoccupied with: jobs, health care and pollution.

  • So, you're telling me there's no difference between his speaking voice and his singing? Yeah, I'm also pretty preoccupied about the jobless and underprivaleged.

    I'm just saying.

  • "can we just talk about my album please" hahaha yeah id say the same thing. atleast he was nice and didnt say "shut up your so anoying!" haha

  • someone pplease shut her up and let rufus talk she's sooo annoying.

  • interviewer is annoying. rufus is wonderful.

  • ah.. he speaks with a lisp. dang. i looove him. i dont think he really enjoyed that interview all too much. He's so great. why is it that..

not that I'm stereotypical, I'm just observing,

    Most gays have lisps.

    I dont really get that.

Oh, he has such a pretty singing voice...

  • I wouldn't say that most gays do... being one myself, not having a lisp, and knowing only one gay person with one... but I think it stems from a want to get in touch with a more feminine vocalization, since the ideas of compassion and empathy are often thought to be feminine and audible in softer consonants.

I could be wrong, but I think it boils down to trying to vocalize an identification with both sexes. Not every gay person does this and, fortunately for him, his lisp is super cute :P

  • I'm sorry if i offended you. all the gays i know, well they all have lisps except one. And then there are shows on tv i watch were gays have lisps.

I do love Rufus. Oh my gosh I so do.

his lisp is cute, your right :D

I think he is one of the most talented singers that I've heard.

  • You didn't offend me at all, haha. You worded your observation very considerately :P

I was just telling you what I thought about gay men with lisps, in general, and cautioning against generalization as a whole for whoever was reading :)

  • i'm trying to concentrate on the interview but ... could she not have washed her hair before speaking to RUFUS WAINWRIGHT? ahh it hurts.

  • Not reallly. He has some beautiful lyrics.

  • not at all.

  • Oh, there you are dead wrong.

    Well.. In some songs.

I wouldnt call Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk beautiful.

But Going to a Town and The Art Teacher, Tier Garden..

    OH!

    Hallelujah.

    That is simply beautiful.

  • omg! I love how his singing voice is so ridiculously different than his speaking voice. Would never suspect that those two would belong to the same person.

  • I fell in love with his voice and then I heard him speak... I nearly fainted.

  • hahaha, i love him, he's fantastic.

  • lol this was hilarious!

  • wish i was sat next 2 him

  • is he gay? serious question.

  • yes.

    and amazing!

  • Uh huh. He came out when he was a teenager.

    15 y.o., maybe?

  • *cough* of course he is. which suckssssss. I mean.. not that.. what ever.

  • yeah, he sooo loves that mic :)

  • hahaha, this is so funny! and I agree with what's been said earlier that both of them seem really comfortable with each other. Rufus looks like he's genuinely having a good time!

  • Hilarious. Rufus Wainwright playing on the little crap keyboard with the vibrant buttons, and he loves the mic.

  • Ahahahaaaaaa! "Tsuna-ME"

    lol.

"Give me 2 hours to run outta the country"

lol, he's about the funniest person ever.

    =p

  • I want, nee need, his gay babies

  • rufus wainwright is gorgeous, period. the way he brushed his hair...dies*

  • I wish i can write songs ~

  • Rufus is probably one of the wittiest men alive.

  • What why?

  • I actually think this was one of the best interviewers he's had. She was comfortable and had no problem hamming it up with Rufus and he obviously loved it. I hate interviewers who look star struck and give stupid compliments.

  • exactly, like with Isaac Mizrahi, poor Rufus! I loved this interview, who's the girl by the way?

  • I kinda dont like her either. She was kind of obnoxious.

  • OPERA!? FOR THE MET! AHHHHHHHHH I want it! I want him! I want my babies to have his hair and his talent!

but yeah, i digress, that in the works opera better come out soon. now i have something kickass to look forward to!

thank you so much for posting!

    (overexcited)

  • Heehee! He is so adorable! And such a genius. This is such a fun video.

    I just love this!!

    Thnx!

  • This was great! Thanks so much for posting it :)

  • poor rufus. hes probably told to do these interviews to promote his album and then he gets stuck writing some ridiculous song with some weirdo. and then he finally gets a few seconds at the end about his album.

    hes funny though.

  • "The Judy Garland takeover of the world from the planet Zoloft [a brand of antidepressant drugs]." Geniusss!!!

  • LMFAO!!!!

"Give me two hours to get out of here!"

Rufus has such a sense of humor, and the lady was really funny also!

  • Love it. Very fun and silly - for someone who i think is truly the greatest songwriter working. What is the DL Show?

  • LOL at Rufus. He's so beautiful. AHAHAHHA

    I want Rufus's hair's babies.

  • i LOVE his face when she plays a C chord and goes "tsunameeee... of love..." LOL he's just like... oh dear :D

  • this is hilarious

  • The sarcasm is almost too much for me. I mean, Rufus isn't giving a real answer to anything.

  • He looks shattered O_O

  • I agree, she's hilarious! :D And you can tell she admires Rufus, as everyone should. ;)

  • I like that woman, she's funny!
