Wow it's hilarious watching everyone thumb down whoever said they wished victory for Lu Chen...There are people who said that because you prefer her over Michelle it makes you jealous of her. Yeah um NO. People can have they're own opinions...Me? I wouldn't have been bothered if Lu Chen had won. On the other hand I am glad that Michelle took home the gold medal. They are both on my list of favorite skaters, and both are gold worthy. ^_^
@Cosucoman it's funny you say that. Most people think Michelle's jumps are strong, but it's her ELEGANCE, GRACE, and artistry that makes her stand out...the precision and the passion...
Lu chen , 5.8/6.0 , Michelle Kwan ,5.9/5.9 ...actually it shows the weak part of old judging system ..the skater who skated 1st lost some potential marks ...i think this also applies to 98 olymipics ..if Kwan skated later than tara , the mark might be like for tara 5.8/5.8 , michelle 5.7/5.9(6.0) ...luckily the new system works better now .:P
Lu Chen should have won...the single greatest long program in ladies figure skating history....even to this day!!! A true masterpiece....I can't help but tear up when I see her skate.
@Keirdance winning 5 world championships and two Olympic medals and winning 9 US championships while consistently putting out 6-7 triples in each program gives one a pretty good argument for being the greatest ever.
Chen Lu's performance in LP was a masterpiece....single greatest performance ever in ladies figure skating history! I can't help but cry every time i watch it...She should've won.
Technically, their almost the same, but clearly Lu Chen is a better artistic skater, in my opinion. i can't help by cry every time I see this long program by Lu Chen....what a masterpiece....easily the greatest single long program performance in figure skating history!!!
Chen Lu skated like an elegant woman, but Michelle took the program in another level by actually telling the story of the seductive Salome. Her program was ahead of it's time and quite risque for a 15 yr old.

I agree that Michelle is the best American and one of the best figure skaters in the world! I personally think, though, that Lu Chen deserved to win this time, because she was better artistically. I would have given 5.9-5.9 to Kwan and 5.9-6.0 to Lu.
I love Chen Lu and, at the time, was so furious that she didn't win over Michelle Kwan. But looking back, Kwan did deserve it. Technically, Kwan had a more demanding program than Chen's with one extra triple jump and better quality spins. Artistically, both interpreted the music well. And I guess it's like apples and oranges- Chen's lyrical quality vs. Kwan's interpretation of a character. "Who performed it better?"
Artistry is not only pretty and slow music, it is also strong and powerful music, personaly i think Michelle's choreography was way more difficult and i also believe Kwan had better transitions and a music that was more interpretative and exciting, that's why Michelle had the edge technically and artistically. And thank God the judges though the same way
Yeah Michelle you totally deserved it no matter what other people have to say. It was won fair and square. Those who don't think you deserved it are just jealous and they can go bitch about it but THE RESULTS WON'T CHANGE. HAHA. Ya Michele you're the best.
you tell 'em honey. I agree Michelle is the best ever. Five worlds, nine U.S., AND in the Olympics, in four performances, she only made ONE mistake out of all four. All the haters forget that's the truth.

Chen Lu has the most elegant style on ice. Michelle may be strong on her jumps. Her style is not as graceful as Lulu's.
