yeah, i was thinking that just the movie would be super confusing. a little intro, and conclusion with main points. less talking in front of class and being nervous!
the only problem is, i have no clue how to edit the movie and put in my own dialog! oh well, it will be a learning experience.
thanks! your support means a lot, even though i don't know you, haha!! the support of a fellow IB-er. :)
my IOP is due after break too. i really want to do a creative presentation style, and it seems like this assessment could be very fun. Yet i do not know how best to illustrate my point!
I chose what I did, because well firstly I like writing and I thought it would be really cool to write about a character in a more direct and personal way -ergo a diary. Because the book I read, tackled many different characters and in passing. They were all part of the bigger picture, rather than standalones, which, due to their depth they could be. So, I wrote a diary in the perspective of characters I liked most and added the vid b/c I thought it would paint the picture more than just words.
So...if you're leaning toward the creative route, I would look at what you like to do personally (draw, write, etc...) and then see if you can find a way to squeeze a presentation out of that.
I saw people do scrapbooks, art galleries (a painting per each character), theme parks (ride per character), and lots of other stuff I can't recall at the moment.
Hope that's helpful, and if not, I can try again. You could also run your ideas by me and I'll help you piece something together.
i'm comparing two similar characters from two different books (the bluest eye and their eyes were watching god). i was thinking i would take a scene from a movie, and write lines for two characters, so that the two characters i am comparing would be the ones on the screen, not the original characters. does that make sense? only, i don't know if that i enough. i could summarize after the video. also, i wouldn't really know what i was doing. s-ok
ok, well, now you will think i am silly. however, i was thinking i could take the scenes from the last lord of the rings movie with frodo and sam. i would re-write their original lines with my own. my lines would be the characters talking about their shared desire (caucasian characteristics). the Ring would symbolize their true selves that the characters sacrifice by wanting to change themselves.
Oh, no! I think that's the cutest thing ever. I love it. I actually think that's totally ingenious. Wow! I feel like mine doesn't compare with yours. ^_^ I really do think that's a brilliant idea.
Also, I think a summary after the whole would help clear things up, and also (My teacher kept saying this) after the whole movie scene, in the summary to talk about a little of the author's intentions relating to the self-sacrifice you'll be doing.
Hah, sorry I took so long. -sheepish- college applications.
Anywho, Interpreter of Maladies wasn't on our list of books to read, so I'm not sure what it's about. BUT, what do you personally like to do? I think that's the first step in a successful IOP.
I saw a couple people do scrapbooks (personally I'm not fond of this one, but you might be) where they make scrapbooks of a given character throughout the story line.
It all comes to down to what YOU find fun. So, what do you like doing?
I thought that's what you meant, but I was a little confused when you said 'first' one.
It's not that difficult so long as you read the books you do your presentation on. I pulled mine together in about...three maybe four days and I think it came out rather well. (Granted, they were exhausting three/four days)
If you need any advice and such, I'll be glad to give my input. Goodness knows it's hard to flounder around not quite sure about what you're doing.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean about comparing the ones on the screen.
