  • I really like fox's voice in this game, but his design is kinda odd. I think that brawl finally had a better design for him.

  • The fact of the matter is, when it comes to Japanese voice acting, that's a whole other world compared to how it's done elsewhere. What they refer to as Seiyuu acting is treated with such dignity and respect. Seiyuus have massive celebrity status in Japan, and when they act, they act with massive seriousness.

  • apparantly americans dont blink

  • what would Krystal's accent be is she was American not British? in any case the japanese version is alot more dramatic

  • There's apparently much more emotional reactions in the Japanese version than the American version. Why there's a difference is a mystery...

  • Anywhere I can find the rest of the cut scenes in their original form?

  • @4MiFans They're posted on this account.

  • @krystalarchive

Weird part is that in the english pre release with the terrible voice acting, they kept the flickering eyes.

  • Anyone other than me notice that Krystal looks upset after she says, "A mission together at last." to Fox O: I wonder why?

    Implied negligence?

And does it even ever come out and say why they have the rocky relationship in StarFox Command, or did I miss it in the gameplay?

  • what would suck is if one of the furries(fox, krystal, peppy, etc.) got fleas of loce, that would suck.

  • @haon7272w Uh, the StarFox characters are anthros, not furries. There's a difference

  • @JaysPlace20 there both, they have fur, adn they stand

  • @haon7272w Furries are alternate animal personas (or "fursonas") which people create for themselves, sometimes out of the belief that they are an animal on the inside. They go about this by drawing art of their respective characters, wearing animal like accessories (ears, tails, etc.), and sometimes building their own fur suits which they wear to conventions or just in their free time

Anthros are simply animals exhibiting human-like characteristics (i.e. walk on 2 legs, talk, wear clothes, etc.)

  • 2:02 again.. THEY SOMEHOW mispelled fortuna... AGAIN

  • @YOUGOTPWNED1111 no its right, they mispelled Fichina in SF64 as fortuna. Fortuna is a tropical planet so I'm guessing you never played SF Assault as that is the first level

  • @blaster00000 I guess you havent played star fox 3DS (star fox 64 3d) belive me they've misspelled it in THAT game

  • @YOUGOTPWNED1111 R u sure, because last time I checked it was spelled "Fichina"

  • @YOUGOTPWNED1111 In Star Fox 64, the planet that was translated as Fortuna was supposed to be named Fichina; it was an error in the translation to English. In Star Fox Assault, the error was fixed and the name Fortuna was ascribed to a different planet.

  • well of course there different, Ive know in every single movie and game in the world has different voice actors in different languages

  • man fox is pissed in all of the japanese ones

  • at the end if you look, krystal looks mad at fox near the end of the talk at the sauria briefing

  • I always thought the english version sounds like power rangers. Plus, Peppy sounds like Colonel from Metal Gear. Which is funny.

  • @krystalfox141 dude keep it to yourself don't make racist remarks that's not what YouTube is for it's for sharing your works and videos plz do not make racist remarks dude even though I am American I do not agree with some things our government is doing but still they were just being lazy and not all Americans are so please don't say you hate Americans

  • Just another thing that makes americans look lame! Oh, wait we already are!

  • no

  • are the japanese changing krystal?

  • wow japanese makes krystal hate fox fuck you japanese

  • hey in 1:40 pause it the eye of krystal is close in japan in american krystal eyes is open

  • why is there a difference with the level of cutscene animation?

  • Fox looks... angrier in Japanese for some reason. Look at his eyes!

  • @shadowclone452 That's just because he's speaking Japanese. There's no difference in the animation.

  • For those referring to the English-speaking Krystal as 'American Krystal'... She's actually 'English Krystal', as I believe she sports an English accent :P

  • @WwhiptailwW her voice is translated though so...

  • @granturismoman170 Huh? What are you getting at? Japanese-speaking Krystal is obviously Japanese, while the so-called 'American' Krystal is actually English (British could be accepted on this occasion, even though it refers to Scotland and Wales too). It wasn't a serious comment. Don't worry about it.

  • I prefer the Japanese voices. I don't suppose that the game comes with an option of changing the voices does it?

  • In star fox 64 is better in english than the japanese but in the star fox assault is better the japanese

  • 1:14 did you saw that too? Japanese Krystal looks more worried than the American Krystal... and in 3:40 Japanese Krystal looks...like...surprised...or something like that, the point is than Japanese Krystal makes an expression and American Krystal don't.

  • 1:14 did you saw that too? Japanese Krystal looks more worried than the American Krystal... o.o

  • @wolfdude186 Yea, let her eyes open would hurt her much... she should blink to be in action.

  • Krystal was voiced in English by Alesia Glidewell (also known for voicing Carmelita and Neyla in "Sly 2: Band of Thieves" and Zero Suit Samus in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl). In Japanese, she was voiced by Aya Hara, whose voice can be heard as Isaac in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl".

  • 1:04 Starfox SUDOKU!!

  • krystal´s voice in japanese is the same as rouge from sonic adventure 2

  • Only difference was Krystal in Japan have eyelids move so much while English, they were solid still, unchanged.

  • @Fredcat11 It's not only that, but the Japanese Krystal has MORE facial expressions. Look at Krystal before she "disappears" from the screen at 1:50. She looks sad/disappointed. Now I really don't understand why Krystal is less popular in Japan... where she shows more about her personality... and moves her eyes, lol.

  • @Sergiroth91 Indeed... Japan did great job on her, and English.... just ignored her eyes and made them freeze as if she had bad eyes.

  • @Fredcat11 I meant 1:14.

  • (im gonna speak in a Russian English Way)

I hate Americans for what they did to my lovely Krystal very sad for me I do not know what are the Americans doing this day they maybe make all the best games like MW 2 BO Assassins Creed Infamous Prototype but now a crap game like this (IM NOT SAYING ITS CRAP) is very insulting I hate Americans (sorta off hate Americans) n Now the way Francis says I hate American

  • when Krystal speaks in JAP she sounds hotter English still same

  • her and grabing her tits at the thought of fox

  • overall i hate how the U.S version is so lacking in polish compared to the japanese version, so disappointing, i prefer the japanese version altho i like fox's english voice as it makes him sound older and more war-hardened but thats about it, the voiceacting in brawl was alot better and they kept the same voices, with the exception of peppy, not only did they change his voiceactor(for the worse i might add) but his VA was complete crap in brawl

  • ugh, how can the blinking been not noticeable during the importing of the game, this disappoints me

  • what really sold me is the fact that the jp version has them blinking, but this game should had been a lot better

  • Yep, in 1:01 (japanese v.) her expressions are like "¿wha...? oh... okey :(" (And it looks like shes almost fainted)

in the american version her expressions are like "yeah, do not thank me you bastard"

in 2:42 krystal blinks 7 times in the japanese version, and 0 times in the american version.

in 3:40, in the japanese v. krystal is like "At last we will be together :)" but then she loks embarrassed

In american v. it looks like she doesnt feel nothing for Fox and say "¡Hm...!"

  • @TheLightsmen I don't know. She still seems pissed in jap version to me.

  • @TheLightsmen OMG I CAN EVEN SEE IT SHIT MAN stupid americans for once i mad americans FOR ONCE they ruined every moment of Krystal in American Version. The Jap Version makes her like wow

  • apparently, the americans are too fat to even care about facial movements XD

  • @OMGZORS1 No more likely the Japanese game makers where redoing it for the America release and said, "Ah screw this."

  • @OMGZORS1

u do know that the developers were japanese and so they were the ones that had to make sure the game can be imported over right?

  • @OMGZORS1 for once i i love how u said it even though i like Americans :P

  • everybody sounds more deadlier in Japanese

  • @lgeklsflz Their voices definitely carry a greater sense of urgency, like everything they say is life or death. It's even more pronounced when contrasted with the voice acting from the English voice actors, which sound almost lazy by comparison.

  • falco sounds like a gang leader in Japanese =0

  • krystal is hot

  • btw. where did tyou find the JAP cutscenes? i would like to see more of the video..

  • WOW. You can just SEE the difference! :O

In the japanese version you can see the expressions!

And Fox actually looks pissed about the situation at 3:19!

What? did the english re-animaters have to start with character models from scratch? And were they just too lazy to animate expressions?

    Makes you think :O

  • I think japanies sounds saxier

  • They Both Say Guns traps And Last At The End. Sounds Exactly The Same?!

  • Ya, blinking make them seem alive and less robotic- like in starfox adventures they would blink, This is why if they ever make a game for the Wii, They should hire Warerare to do it instead of namco. And no matter what version jap or eng-Krystal is pretty pissed ob Sauria lol

  • @SockBoxingFox

rareware hasent been rareware since they left nintendo, not only that, the same time who even worked on the nintendo game arent there anymore, they moved on once rare went to microsoft, and the games they put out have not be well-received either, especially in the remake of konker's bad fur day. now retro studios, which are nintendo's new rare, they can definitely work on the new starfox

  • @lylatfox4 I think that Retro should take the Star Fox games. I think they did a good job on Metroid prime and DK country returns. I think it would be better since Star Fox has lacked a true Star Fox experience since SF64.

  • In the japanese version they actualy blink unlike the US version.

  • Japanese Krystal sounds sexier

  • It's funny how the America's Krystal sounds like a Victoria Secret supermodel, and the Japanese Krystal sounds like a 14 year old school girl...

  • is it me, or is krystal's boobs bigger in the japanese version?

  • @Bubbasmith94

Yeah, they do...and that's why 4kids shouldn't do video games!

  • @Bubbasmith94 just you

  • This is proof that the Japanese do everything better.

Seriously, I HATED the English version of the Sauria briefing. you'd think after ALL the effort in StarFox Adventures in saving the planet the first time, he'd appear a little more upset. But he was just blah, like the others.

In the Japanese version, he actually looked PISSED.

Ugh. America, when will you stop being so lazy? D:

  • @ConcealingShadows Thyat's the whole point. The japanese get the better vidio games while we have to sit here with all the inferior things. To be honest i envy the japanese. Oh well. That's what we get for bombing hiroshima.

  • @ConcealingShadows When you stop being a fucking weeaboo your wapanese bastard

"This is proof that the Japanese do everything better"

  • @ComedyCentralbeast22 Whoa, was that necessary? Jeez, chill out.

  • @ConcealingShadows you mean the japanese is on for the boobs this hole time wow

  • @ConcealingShadows No they don't.

  • @ConcealingShadows Pretty sure its just the way they talk. I don't speak Japanese but my cousins do so, I hear it all the time. I don't think they are being lazy.

  • Other than the animation quality, how is the English version not superior in every single way? American voice actors at least know how to imitate accents. Japanese VAs are so inept at accents that they didn't even try to make Krystal sound as obviously British as her original voice was. On the other hand you could say that the North America version was underacted, and you'd be correct. That's why the animation was toned down to begin with; Fox looked less pissed, because he sounded less pissed.

  • Comment removed

  • And before someone says that its perfectly acceptable to ditch the intended accent of a character when localizing a game, why on earth then did Alesia Glidwell try to imitate Estelle Ellis' accent to begin with? The funny thing about calling the Americans lazy with their translation of Assault is that even the Japanese creators would probably agree that the American cast sounds more natural here since they made this as a sequel to a foreign-made Star Fox game.

  • @ThePoopcornMachine I can forgive accents because the Japanese accent is pretty heavy and hard to work around. There's nothing that could've been done about that. In that respect, yes, the American version is better. However, it was also underacted, as you said. My beef with America is their worry that any game that has real feeling in it will destroy society. I heard Krystal was edited down because they felt she was too 'suggestive'. That's a load of crap. And, why couldn't Fox be mad?

  • @ConcealingShadows

Do you know of any specific scenes where she was considered too suggestive? I find that interesting because when I first played the game I was surprised at how suggestive Nintendo allowed Namco to make the character.

Sure her sexy "thank you" at the end of SFA sort of set that tone for the character, but for some reason I expected Namco to be a bit more conservative than Rare, whose last game before that Conker's Bad Fur Day.

  • @ThePoopcornMachine They weren't edited down to fit the sub-par acting. They were edited down so that they wouldn't be 'over-the-top' for the children playing the games. Because being frustrated about a planet in jeopardy that you went through hell and back saving will scare the children!

I don't care so much about accents. I care about performance. The Japanese always do better than America in that regard. They don't have a pole up their butts about censorship.

  • @ConcealingShadows

I totally get where you're coming from with regards to censorship and the toning down of the emotional content of the game; it's not as if this were a game that was mainly targeted at young kids. But I wonder if the censorship was meant more for European and Australian audiences, since in those areas it received a 7+ and 8+ rating respectively, while in America it was T for teen.

  • I hated the model for fox in the SF: Assault, thought that the one from SF: adventures was better same for the voice acting a little bit. Other than that Krystal looks a little pissed off in the Sauria briefing lol.

  • The japenese voice actors put more emotion in it, but I prefer the voice of the American voice actors better.

  • If only the world was like how star fox is....(have everyone be a furry.)

  • @demons258 if that happens i hope ill be Fox n a girl i love is Krystal n hope that it becomes Ending 2 of Star Fox Command

  • Japanese vers. has a little more emotion put into it

  • i like the japanese voice actors MUCH better...i just wish i knew japanese :P

  • LMFAO!!!!!! Slippy sounds like a girl in the japanese version!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you know at the last scene you can see a big difference.. when she says "a mission together at last" in japanese then she smiles at fox and then gets upset.. there are soo much emotion in the japanese version.. and in the other version i think you cant see that krystal gets upset or something o.o

  • The blinking, and I noticed a bit of a difference in Fox's face like thicker eyebrows, and motions in the brow, and things like that.

  • its like they tried to de-sex her in the american one, she is just a blank slate

  • Only difference I saw was the blinking, other than that, not much.

  • the gamecube graphics in japan is better then the american version

  • The only major difference I see are the eyes; much more motion in the eyes in the Japanese version. Funny thing is, while most of the characters are Japanese in origin, Krystal was a character made in England, originally for another game.

  • accully they were bigger in adventures

  • The japanese version is better

  • What a BIG difference. Now, I wanna find the Japanese Star Fox Assault on eBay or somewhere and get it. The actuallt have expressions in this. Why does America have to rip off Japanese games like that? It's just brutal... :(

  • xD I love Slippy's Japanese voice. But the only difference I noticed was that the Japanese version had them blinking.. (Which looks odd when they talk and blink during the same time.) and during the Katina briefing, it seems like Fox said "Star Fox, move out!" instead. o_O

  • Oh look Slippy is still a girl in Japan.

  • I see. The JAP version of the game she has more movements where in the USA version she's limited. Doesn't surprise me. Japan's technology surpasses us while were catching up. When this game was made I did see that the mouth movements were all the same until I saw this. The USA version had to have some restrictions in the game itself.

  • @SuperMissile

Japan, USA, and Europe have the same consoles, not to mention that the international versions are usually a bit beefed up because they are revised versions of an earlier Japanese model. Whatever their GC had our GC has, if not better. The only problem is the laziness of the programmers. They didn't bother to give Krystal facial expressions. Even when using your logic, I could say NA has better tech, because of the Xbox made by MS, since it was way more powerful than the GC.

  • japanese tails sounds a lot like tails from n64

  • 日本語版と英語版では、口の動き方等が

    微妙に違うんですね。

    知りませんでした。

  • At least they have good poker faces.

  • Well at least they have good poker faces in English.

  • in finchina peppy sounds angry(in japanese)and slippy sounds like a girl(in japanese)and foxs voice sounds deeper(in japanese)

  • ah slippy's japanese voice is much easier to listen to

  • I like Krystal's voice in Adventures better. But I like Peppy's Japanese voice better #LOL

  • You know whats weird, is that nintendo supposed to be a japanese company but all the characters names are english, like even in the japanese version they still say "Star Fox" or "Fox" or "Krystal," which is kind weird.

  • @Theluigiman36 well some sf games were named different names because the country the game was realesed in had a game in that country named star fox or star fox 64

  • I love Krystal's suit :)

  • can't they just make english audio and replace the captions instead of animations?

  • 0:51 : He broke the 4th wall talking to the player ... then again all video games do that

  • Looks like at the end Krystal seems more upset of fox's embarrassment in the Japanese version.

  • LOL PEPPY SONDS LIKE AN ANGRY OLD Japanese guy lol

  • As much as I love this game it didn't reach it's potential, its little things like this that make a game memorable

  • in jpn 3 thing slippy sounds like a girl

  • Lol Krystal looks pissed in the Japanese version as if she's mad that Fox isn't paying attention to her or something

  • @DHAZEDXZ On the last one she really does. She looks like super-pissed, lol!!

  • ah i was forgeting in the japanese version they blink. see for yourself

  • the difference that i saw are this in the japanese version the team, when is talking have more facial expresions and the put some more emotion than American one

  • Besides is the same for me, the only difference i noted was that, krystal's eyes shines like a cat's eyes in the american ver.

  • Japan was where it was originated, it is to be expected.

Stop complain and play the game.

I most lol, because you don't understand Japanese and you like it more?

  • japanese voice for kristal, is more sexy and cool

  • lol @ 3:08 Krystal said "A mission together at last!" and then Fox's tail went up

  • Krystal's facial expressions are much better in the Japanese version.

  • I Cannot See The Difference. Or Hear The Difference.

  • fox's voice can get some time to get used to, but its still awesome. Krystal's is also awesome!

  • I'll agree with you Chibby, once I hear certain voices in English I prefer them over Japanese. I like Fox's voice in English same with Falco's but true he looks more badass in Japanese version. I could get used to Slippy's voice in Japanese far less annoying. I prefer the american voice for Peppy and the Japanese version for Krystal I prefer. As of Star Wolf I prefer all the american voices.

  • yes, thanks for agree... but actually the japanese voices from Star Wolf sounds more badass.

just look, it will like you

  • ew I hate the Japanese voice for Krystal.

  • I like the english voices, but japanese expressions :3

  • I like the english voices better.

  • 1:15 I loled when he looks at the camera

  • you can tell... they show much more expretion in Jap version

  • Yup, that the one thing that I noticed in the briefing, that they never blinked ever!

  • Japanese > American, if only it was english voices so we could understand them if we know english.

  • Krystal's expression at 3:35 was amazing xD The most noticeable in difference from the english(besides the blinking.)

I can certainly see that the original expressions seem to have a more fit in emotions as many speak. That just make me laugh because of the fact that it shows Krystal was hoping Fox would really be more happier about it I suppose. Dazed in love? Ha, don't hurt yourself Krystal. Fox is a good guy, just sometimes has his moments x]

  • In the Japanese Sauria briefing, Fox looks PISSED.

  • I have always preferred japanese subs in anime, and i have alwayus played sonic in japanese. I just enjoy the choices of voice actor, because america is determined to make their voices sound mildly unrealistic,

  • yep, and yea

  • Spanish will be perfect XD want to know how it sounds!!

  • I like the Japanese voices the best, with the exception of Falco. I like Falco's English voice better, but the Japanese one isn't bad

  • yeah...he's the same Falco that been doing it since SFA

  • i feel the same way about Peppy, his jpn voice is ok, but i actually think eng voice is way better

  • lol i like falco's jap. voice.. though when he yells, it sounds like he's drunk XD

  • english Kystrals' eyes seem to stay half open all the time to me. mm... and eng. body movements are more then the jap. version. plus english mouth movements are off from the japanese one.*went through and paused every second when both were up taking in every detail*

  • Due to obvious facial differences between the JPN and ENG versions, I can say that the ENG version might have been too lazy to animate facial features.... seriouslyl, how hard is it to make the characters blink once in a while... really XP.

  • For me it would perfect if they had the expressions in the japanese version and with the english voices

  • Much better in Japanese..the characters seem more alive, and less cartoony.

  • In JPN version all characters blinks. In ENG they never blink... weird...

  • Oh...Now I see!

  • Maybe it's because the JPN version has more facial expression than the ENG version when the characters brief. Damn...the ENG version should have the same thing like the JPN version don't you think?!

  • omg i see it!!! i can understand one and could care less for the other!!! its crazy!!!

  • at the end krystal looks pissed but y???

  • Yeah But It Looks Like When Fox Talk He Did Want To IIngnore It Because I Dont Like This Fox Because Isnt The Shy Fox When Krystal Was Talking Him....

    Is Like More Serious...

  • Imagine it from her point of view. She's likes Fox, and wants to spend some time with him, but if you notice his expression when she says it, he acts almost as if he doesn't want to be with her.

  • Wow everyone had so much more emotion on their faces in the Japanese one O.o
