The fact of the matter is, when it comes to Japanese voice acting, that's a whole other world compared to how it's done elsewhere. What they refer to as Seiyuu acting is treated with such dignity and respect. Seiyuus have massive celebrity status in Japan, and when they act, they act with massive seriousness.
@haon7272w Furries are alternate animal personas (or "fursonas") which people create for themselves, sometimes out of the belief that they are an animal on the inside. They go about this by drawing art of their respective characters, wearing animal like accessories (ears, tails, etc.), and sometimes building their own fur suits which they wear to conventions or just in their free time
Anthros are simply animals exhibiting human-like characteristics (i.e. walk on 2 legs, talk, wear clothes, etc.)
@YOUGOTPWNED1111 no its right, they mispelled Fichina in SF64 as fortuna. Fortuna is a tropical planet so I'm guessing you never played SF Assault as that is the first level
@YOUGOTPWNED1111 In Star Fox 64, the planet that was translated as Fortuna was supposed to be named Fichina; it was an error in the translation to English. In Star Fox Assault, the error was fixed and the name Fortuna was ascribed to a different planet.

@granturismoman170 Huh? What are you getting at? Japanese-speaking Krystal is obviously Japanese, while the so-called 'American' Krystal is actually English (British could be accepted on this occasion, even though it refers to Scotland and Wales too). 1:14 did you saw that too? Japanese Krystal looks more worried than the American Krystal... and in 3:40 Japanese Krystal looks...like...surprised...or something like that, the point is than Japanese Krystal makes an expression and American Krystal don't.

@Fredcat11 It's not only that, but the Japanese Krystal has MORE facial expressions. Look at Krystal before she "disappears" from the screen at 1:50. She looks sad/disappointed. overall i hate how the U.S version is so lacking in polish compared to the japanese version, so disappointing, i prefer the japanese version altho i like fox's english voice as it makes him sound older and more war-hardened but thats about it, the voiceacting in brawl was alot better and they kept the same voices, with the exception of peppy, not only did they change his voiceactor(for the worse i might add) but his VA was complete crap in brawl
@TheLightsmen OMG I CAN EVEN SEE IT SHIT MAN stupid americans for once i mad americans FOR ONCE they ruined every moment of Krystal in American Version. The Jap Version makes her like wow
@lgeklsflz Their voices definitely carry a greater sense of urgency, like everything they say is life or death. It's even more pronounced when contrasted with the voice acting from the English voice actors, which sound almost lazy by comparison.
Ya, blinking make them seem alive and less robotic- like in starfox adventures they would blink, This is why if they ever make a game for the Wii, They should hire Warerare to do it instead of namco. And no matter what version jap or eng-Krystal is pretty pissed ob Sauria lol
rareware hasent been rareware since they left nintendo, not only that, the same time who even worked on the nintendo game arent there anymore, they moved on once rare went to microsoft, and the games they put out have not be well-received either, especially in the remake of konker's bad fur day. now retro studios, which are nintendo's new rare, they can definitely work on the new starfox
@lylatfox4 I think that Retro should take the Star Fox games. I think they did a good job on Metroid prime and DK country returns. I think it would be better since Star Fox has lacked a true Star Fox experience since SF64.
This is proof that the Japanese do everything better.
Seriously, I HATED the English version of the Sauria briefing. you'd think after ALL the effort in StarFox Adventures in saving the planet the first time, he'd appear a little more upset. But he was just blah, like the others.
In the Japanese version, he actually looked PISSED.
Ugh. America, when will you stop being so lazy? D:

In that respect, yes, the American version is better. However, it was also underacted, as you said. My beef with America is their worry that any game that has real feeling in it will destroy society. I heard Krystal was edited down because they felt she was too 'suggestive'. That's a load of crap. And, why couldn't Fox be mad?
Do you know of any specific scenes where she was considered too suggestive? I find that interesting because when I first played the game I was surprised at how suggestive Nintendo allowed Namco to make the character.
Sure her sexy "thank you" at the end of SFA sort of set that tone for the character, but for some reason I expected Namco to be a bit more conservative than Rare, whose last game before that Conker's Bad Fur Day.
@ThePoopcornMachine They weren't edited down to fit the sub-par acting. They were edited down so that they wouldn't be 'over-the-top' for the children playing the games. Because being frustrated about a planet in jeopardy that you went through hell and back saving will scare the children!
I don't care so much about accents. I care about performance. The Japanese always do better than America in that regard. They don't have a pole up their butts about censorship.
I totally get where you're coming from with regards to censorship and the toning down of the emotional content of the game; it's not as if this were a game that was mainly targeted at young kids. But I wonder if the censorship was meant more for European and Australian audiences, since in those areas it received a 7+ and 8+ rating respectively, while in America it was T for teen.
I hated the model for fox in the SF: Assault, thought that the one from SF: adventures was better same for the voice acting a little bit. Other than that Krystal looks a little pissed off in the Sauria briefing lol.
you know at the last scene you can see a big difference.. when she says "a mission together at last" in japanese then she smiles at fox and then gets upset.. there are soo much emotion in the japanese version.. and in the other version i think you cant see that krystal gets upset or something o.o
The only major difference I see are the eyes; much more motion in the eyes in the Japanese version. Funny thing is, while most of the characters are Japanese in origin, Krystal was a character made in England, originally for another game.
What a BIG difference. Now, I wanna find the Japanese Star Fox Assault on eBay or somewhere and get it. The actuallt have expressions in this. Why does America have to rip off Japanese games like that? It's just brutal... :(
xD I love Slippy's Japanese voice. But the only difference I noticed was that the Japanese version had them blinking.. (Which looks odd when they talk and blink during the same time.) and during the Katina briefing, it seems like Fox said "Star Fox, move out!" instead. o_O
I see. The JAP version of the game she has more movements where in the USA version she's limited. Doesn't surprise me. Japan's technology surpasses us while were catching up. When this game was made I did see that the mouth movements were all the same until I saw this. The USA version had to have some restrictions in the game itself.
Japan, USA, and Europe have the same consoles, not to mention that the international versions are usually a bit beefed up because they are revised versions of an earlier Japanese model. Whatever their GC had our GC has, if not better. The only problem is the laziness of the programmers. They didn't bother to give Krystal facial expressions. Even when using your logic, I could say NA has better tech, because of the Xbox made by MS, since it was way more powerful than the GC.
You know whats weird, is that nintendo supposed to be a japanese company but all the characters names are english, like even in the japanese version they still say "Star Fox" or "Fox" or "Krystal," which is kind weird.
@Theluigiman36 well some sf games were named different names because the country the game was realesed in had a game in that country named star fox or star fox 64
the difference that i saw are this in the japanese version the team, when is talking have more facial expresions and the put some more emotion than American one
I'll agree with you Chibby, once I hear certain voices in English I prefer them over Japanese. I like Fox's voice in English same with Falco's but true he looks more badass in Japanese version. I could get used to Slippy's voice in Japanese far less annoying. I prefer the american voice for Peppy and the Japanese version for Krystal I prefer. As of Star Wolf I prefer all the american voices.
Krystal's expression at 3:35 was amazing xD The most noticeable in difference from the english(besides the blinking.)
I can certainly see that the original expressions seem to have a more fit in emotions as many speak. That just make me laugh because of the fact that it shows Krystal was hoping Fox would really be more happier about it I suppose. Dazed in love? Ha, don't hurt yourself Krystal. Fox is a good guy, just sometimes has his moments x]
I have always preferred japanese subs in anime, and i have alwayus played sonic in japanese. I just enjoy the choices of voice actor, because america is determined to make their voices sound mildly unrealistic,
english Kystrals' eyes seem to stay half open all the time to me. mm... and eng. body movements are more then the jap. version. plus english mouth movements are off from the japanese one.*went through and paused every second when both were up taking in every detail*
Due to obvious facial differences between the JPN and ENG versions, I can say that the ENG version might have been too lazy to animate facial features.... seriouslyl, how hard is it to make the characters blink once in a while... really XP.
Maybe it's because the JPN version has more facial expression than the ENG version when the characters brief. Damn...the ENG version should have the same thing like the JPN version don't you think?!
Yeah But It Looks Like When Fox Talk He Did Want To IIngnore It Because I Dont Like This Fox Because Isnt The Shy Fox When Krystal Was Talking Him....
Imagine it from her point of view. She's likes Fox, and wants to spend some time with him, but if you notice his expression when she says it, he acts almost as if he doesn't want to be with her.
I really like fox's voice in this game, but his design is kinda odd. I think that brawl finally had a better design for him.

the gamecube graphics in japan is better then the american version
rawdawg0508 1 year ago
The only major difference I see are the eyes; much more motion in the eyes in the Japanese version. Funny thing is, while most of the characters are Japanese in origin, Krystal was a character made in England, originally for another game.

What a BIG difference. Now, I wanna find the Japanese Star Fox Assault on eBay or somewhere and get it. The actuallt have expressions in this. Why does America have to rip off Japanese games like that? It's just brutal... :(
JUDGM3NTech5 1 year ago
xD I love Slippy's Japanese voice. But the only difference I noticed was that the Japanese version had them blinking.. (Which looks odd when they talk and blink during the same time.) and during the Katina briefing, it seems like Fox said "Star Fox, move out!" instead. o_O
Zeadkin 1 year ago
Oh look Slippy is still a girl in Japan.
incrediblecaptain 1 year ago
I see. The JAP version of the game she has more movements where in the USA version she's limited. Doesn't surprise me. Japan's technology surpasses us while were catching up. When this game was made I did see that the mouth movements were all the same until I saw this. The USA version had to have some restrictions in the game itself.
SuperMissile 1 year ago
@SuperMissile

Theluigiman36 1 year ago
@Theluigiman36 well some sf games were named different names because the country the game was realesed in had a game in that country named star fox or star fox 64

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Fox jap-voice: hate it, american is better
Falco jap-voice: almost the same, looks more badass
Slippy jap-voice: Less anoying n.n
Peppy jap-voice: prefer the american
Krystal jap-voice: sounds better than the american one... but less sexy
ChibbyTonx 2 years ago
I'll agree with you Chibby, once I hear certain voices in English I prefer them over Japanese. I like Fox's voice in English same with Falco's but true he looks more badass in Japanese version. I could get used to Slippy's voice in Japanese far less annoying. I prefer the american voice for Peppy and the Japanese version for Krystal I prefer. As of Star Wolf I prefer all the american voices.
Devidagirl 2 years ago
yes, thanks for agree... but actually the japanese voices from Star Wolf sounds more badass.

Yup, that the one thing that I noticed in the briefing, that they never blinked ever!
Steller1980 2 years ago 4
Japanese > American, if only it was english voices so we could understand them if we know english.
Juigijaredjb 2 years ago
Krystal's expression at 3:35 was amazing xD The most noticeable in difference from the english(besides the blinking.)
I can certainly see that the original expressions seem to have a more fit in emotions as many speak. That just make me laugh because of the fact that it shows Krystal was hoping Fox would really be more happier about it I suppose. Dazed in love? Ha, don't hurt yourself Krystal. Fox is a good guy, just sometimes has his moments x]

In the Japanese Sauria briefing, Fox looks PISSED.

I have always preferred japanese subs in anime, and i have alwayus played sonic in japanese. I just enjoy the choices of voice actor, because america is determined to make their voices sound mildly unrealistic,

lol i like falco's jap. voice.. though when he yells, it sounds like he's drunk XD
bambiberrys 2 years ago 4
english Kystrals' eyes seem to stay half open all the time to me. mm... and eng. body movements are more then the jap. version. plus english mouth movements are off from the japanese one.*went through and paused every second when both were up taking in every detail*
Somatomay 2 years ago
Due to obvious facial differences between the JPN and ENG versions, I can say that the ENG version might have been too lazy to animate facial features.... seriouslyl, how hard is it to make the characters blink once in a while... really XP.
CapnE625 2 years ago 23
For me it would perfect if they had the expressions in the japanese version and with the english voices
Coolecolin 2 years ago 4
Much better in Japanese..the characters seem more alive, and less cartoony.
plasmarounds999 2 years ago 3
In JPN version all characters blinks. In ENG they never blink... weird...
LisekKyuubi 2 years ago 7
Oh...Now I see!
rubyjuly94 2 years ago
Maybe it's because the JPN version has more facial expression than the ENG version when the characters brief. Damn...the ENG version should have the same thing like the JPN version don't you think?!

omg i see it!!! i can understand one and could care less for the other!!! its crazy!!!

Imagine it from her point of view. She's likes Fox, and wants to spend some time with him, but if you notice his expression when she says it, he acts almost as if he doesn't want to be with her.
