  • Didn't know this song existed until right now. I hate my town so fucking much. Soooo glad to be far far away from Moorestown. :)

  • This song is my official -making love- background music. xD

  • i live in moorestown

  • Absolutely beautiful and haunting. It evokes familiar emotions in everyone who listens to it, I think.

  • This song is so calm. Makes you feel a little better after you shove preparation h up your butt.

  • Wow. Nick, stripper or not, that is probably one of the most touching comments I've ever read on youtube. I hope you are ok brother. There are people who love you, don't give up. And know we are all one - not in a religious way - but connected through music/internet/21st living/whatever. Anyway, just know it's gonna be ok.

  • This song is so breathtakingly beautiful. I love Mark Kozelek!!! Genius songwriter. If you love Kozelek, you should check out ''Fragile Bones (Feels Like Home)'' by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. I would say that Kozelek and Murray would have to be my favourite songwriters.

  • I don't remember where I ran into this band, but they are amazing. And that's coming from someone who loves metal, screamo, and punk. <3 It's good to broaden the genres you listen to.

  • I actually live in Moorestown - my school bus drives past those fields every day.

  • wow

  • wow

  • i live in moorestown

  • @MRDDRunny lucky..

  • I also believe all musicians will improve their skills by understanding how to record and produce their own recordings. This in itself, makes it more then worthwhile...

  • WOW. i was just blown away! this song is amazing!

  • LEGEND. mark has never failed me. ohh the nostalgia !

  • makin me have a sense of wholeness again. thanks mark ^^

  • This band rocks. Does anyone know if this song is about Moorestown, NJ? That is one town over from where I live.

  • @MPRC1136 Yes, it's about Moorestown, NJ.

  • @MPRC1136 I knew you would like this shit when I told you about it. LOL. Absolutely amazing.

  • Music today is better then ever, and will only continue to grow. Technology has given us all huge possibilities. An example for those who can't understand: A musician buys home studio gear for cheap (not likely a few years back) Then promotes it through any number of websites (definitely not possible a few years back) There is so much good music out there I've never heard, and that is never going to change. The best thing that has happened to music is the slow decay of big record companies.

  • @LuxeXx Yeah, if you don't mind lesser quality recordings/layering.. A musician is also not a studio producer or masterer.. Speaking as a musician. Multi tasking is certainly not always the best route.. ever heard the phrase "jack of all, master of none"? something like that.. That rings true for most DIY artists. You can't be an amazing musician and producer.. they both take lots of focus and time and effort to perfect.

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica Don't get me started on production values. I've turned in the guitar for a board in some respects. However, music is what I love, and will never serve one "master". I'm never going to be the best producer, even more so as a musician. Both have qualities that the other doesn't. (One pays me, the other one doesn't :). While I agree its a good idea to focus on a specific role, you may also lose many other rewarding experiences...

  • @LuxeXx Well, it's good to have basic knowledge regarding both recording and producing and musicianship, but I'm a much better musician than I am a producer.. I'd much rather have someone who knows what they're doing help me, rather than spending a few years learning how to do something of radio/CD quality on my own.. I guess my argument doesn't matter to you anyway, but to some it's not all that easy and it's a bit naive to think it's so easy.

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica I addressed your argument. I just feel that whatever someone wants to do with their time is the correct way to go about their life. Thus, I work in a studio and play music; and I'm competent at both. I'm also decent at working on cars, and situations involving financial and business practices. The more knowledge acquired, the more life becomes interesting. This is my simple point, and I fully believe in it...

  • @LuxeXx I agree, I just don't agree that cheap recording software is going to produce a great CD. Even then, it's difficult to make money from that. I don't intend to make a living off of my music even if it was worthy enough to be bought, because most people don't do that anymore.

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica Also, several bands have been successful with DIY type operations. I'm sure you a fan of some of them. A great song can be a great song without all of the "bells and whistles" of the studio. Getting it down on cheap gear definitely helps as demos and can be a gateway to better production opportunities. But I hear you; it will always be difficult to make anything close to a normal living off of music, and this is an area where I separate passion and money...

  • @LuxeXx I'm just being pissy. lol I agree, and I have no choice myself unless I learned how to improve my recording quality (which I'll have to do soon as I'm leaving high school this year and plan on pursuing my musical ambitions alongside a stable career.)

  • you people are so stupid and arogant that you dont see that you are killing the music you're trying to save

  • @vladimir541 How is that even possible to do to a growing artist such as Sun Kil Moon

  • this music is over-powerful

  • Oh man, that is nice touch, I'm a mess with this. Emotional. Here come da waterslide.

Incredible song! I wouldn't expect anything less from this group, but eeeeeasy... it's not the second coming of the Lord! In my world everyone's a pony, and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflys.

  • I guess modern music still has at least one band with major talent :)

  • man fuck those 3 ppl if they dont like sunkilmoon there stupid because all they now is that one of there song are on the gears 3 trailer.

  • 3 people dislike this??? wtf

  • where can I download this song? or find a better quality video of it.

  • Great job on this Katami! Captures the mood of the song perfectly. Are the driving shots from NJ?

  • The more I listen to this the more Id compare it to their best stuff....

  • anybody else hearing john martyn here?

  • This song made me shed a tear... first time a song has done that to me. Absolutely breath taking...

  • @Katamai Yes

  • @roflbiscuit Well in the sense that it's a little skippy, but it almost appears that it's intentional.

  • gow 3 ajaujaj xd

  • Don't know what alll the moaning about the mumbling's aboot. Thjis is a moving song.

  • Carry me ,ohio is the best ive heard but this takes me to a different place with what this band can accomplish..nicely done.

  • ........im speechless at the beauty of this

  • Mark Kozelek saves my life everyday. Literally. The music he makes and his voice stop me from reaching into the closet where I keep a piece of rope that I bought when I first wanted to bring my life to an end.

Thank you, Mark, for all the inexpressibly beautiful, wistful and heartbreaking music you've made over the years.

If there's a god, may he or she protect you just like the angels from your songs.

  • @playerman113 asshole

  • @nickthestripper28 <3 throw the rope away!

  • @nickthestripper28 What a beautiful comment. God bless you.

  • @nickthestripper28 ....dude i think you should see a doctor or somethin..anyways love this band

  • @TheBengaul u don't need a doctor for that, this song is enough to heal the broken soul</3

  • @nickthestripper28 wow, music is truely a powerful force... music is my life

  • @nickthestripper28 If there was not a God, such music would not exist.

  • @ogreb28 is that like some kinda of shot at kozolek or something?

  • @ogreb28 Correction idiot, if talent and passion didn't exist, neither would this music. Come on, it's the 21 centuary, time to get a brain

  • @FoggyFishburne Pretty insulting, good to see you spreading the hate. Is there anything else you want to try and sell us?

  • @nickthestripper28 ur a retard

  • @nickthestripper28 You're not alone in your love for Mark Kozelek's music nor are you alone full stop. Your comment moved me, I hope things are well with you. Keep on keepin' on.

  • @nickthestripper28 You're not alone in your love for Mark Kozelek's music nor are you alone full stop. Your comment really moved me, I hope things are well with you. Keep on keepin' on.

  • @nickthestripper28 my lord you are a depressing individual!

  • @nickthestripper28 i'm glad that you have found an artist that makes you want to live life another day. i sincerely hope things work out for you, man.

  • @nickthestripper28 i'm glad that you have found an artist that makes you want to live another day. i sincerely hope that things work out for you, man.. and what an amazing artist this is.

  • @nickthestripper28 I pray you are alive and okay, I love you and do not know you, I attempted the same, but I learned, the most beautiful thing about living is Love in all its incomprehensible and at times, simple and graceful forms.--Luis Barahona

  • @nickthestripper28

Have you ever considered throwing away the rope?

  • @nickthestripper28 lol kill yourself, you emotional waste of space.

  • @neegrowkiller666 No, you go kill YOURSELF, you piece of shit.

  • @nickthestripper28 To echo the comments of an earlier poster, my friend you are certainly not alone in finding such emotions in Mark's music, or in the world in general.

Speaking as someone who tried to commit suicide when I was younger, I can tell you there is hope and happiness in the world but it can be very hard, if not seemingly impossible, to find at times. I really hope you find such hope in the world.

  • Great video! I orginally thought that this was the "official" video for the song, since it looks exactly like what a Kozelek/SKM video would be - sepia-toned goodness, Great job!

  • i dream like this

  • The music world's most under-appreciated artist.

  • My thoughts will pause my throat will swell, when her name is spoken.*swoon*

  • Stunning song and a gorgeous video... very true to his aesthetic (or Nyree Watts' who does most of his cover artwork). The yellow is very fitting, I think, and I love how you washed it out at the end. I hope Mark sees this and thanks you.

  • I'm from Marlton, NJ. I found this band from the Tiny Cities album. Such talent, how come I can't find decently talented people in Jersey?

  • Mark Kozelek: once again restoring my faith in modern music.

  • The video plays out like a vivid memory and the song is melancholy and beautiful... the two really compliment each other.

  • Red House Painters??

  • Mark Kozelek =)

  • My New Fvourite Song.

  • I hear hints of Springsteen's "Main Street", along with influences from Gordon Lightfoot and and Jackson Browne. I really want to love this song, but I could hardly make out any words and that was really frustrating. Love the instrumentals, though.

  • I hear none of those [ as much as I respeck Springsteen] at all. Perhaps some Townes Van Zandt in terms of temperment......Jurado and Bean to an extent, but mostly its all his.

  • The entire record "April" is like that, he sort of mumbles out the lyrics. That is one of the things that made me not like April as much as I wanted to. that's a shame, cause Some compositions are really great.

  • its his sound though, i really love it!

clarity doesn't suit some of his songs i think, they're quiet mubled songs i think.

  • i actually live in Moorestown NJ and thatts where he filmed this video! XD

  • Beautiful song, beautiful video.

    *tear*

  • Nice forever.

  • this video is incredible! i actually like the version where it lags better--gives it a hazy quality that fits perfectly with the mood of the song. well done!

  • It lags if it isn't in High Quality mode with the fmt 18 link. It's just youtube's crappy encoding.

  • Beautiful...

  • its about an ex girlfriend of his who died, its a beautiful song

  • But I slept with heeer SO MANY NIGHTS...

  • I just love this vidoe! =D Never heard about Sun kil Moon but.. they awesome! And vidoe is too! =D

  • You should check Red House Painters out, too.

  • song rules <3

  • Love it!!!

April is one of my fave albums and it's a shame there aren't that many SKM videos online.

  • I live in the town that this song is about. It says so on our town hall's website. I live in Moorestown New Jersey.

  • Wonderful thing

  • AWESOME MOVIE! :D Keep doing this awesome videos m8 ;)

  • i've known of this band for a while now but never heard their stuff so i didn't know that this is the same guy from red house painters until i heard his voice

  • thanks for the info chief

  • amazing job you did!!

  • Beautiful job for an amazing song- thanks for your effort.

  • breathtaking...really amazing job.

reach around & pat yourself on the back (seriously)...super duper job of catching mood & essence of the tune, & matching a pretty defined aesthetic...thank you for sharing!

  • if im correct, i do believe this song is about my hometown.

  • Saw them in September in Brighton UK. Tiny club (the Audio), packed to the rafters and there was this feeling 'we are so lucky to be here'. It was a magical gig that you wanted to go on and on!!Brilliant

  • Looks like its gone, unless it's a regional thing. :(

  • I sent this vid to a friend and the link said "This Video is no Longer available"

but I clicked on the same link and I could watch it w/o any problems... I guess it must be some youtube's bug

  • where'd this song go??!???!!??!??!???!!??!

  • wonderful...i show it to everyone.. this video is great and should be recognized by Mark and the fellas as the official one.. it captures the song perfectly.. thanks a million!!!

  • The song is beautiful and the video you have made is. Like a few people have said, this really should be the official video. The song itself is sometimes too much to hear without tears but when coupled with this video its so beautiful that no one would could be blamed for crying.

  • this should be the official video. its really unbelievable. good work. you should do more..

  • really is a phenomenal vid u should be proud

  • so beautiful.

  • I don't normally give internet props, but you deserve it for this video. It really hit the nail square on the head, and you should make sure that Mark knows it exists.

  • this video is fucking awesome. You really captured the emotional and personal nature of the song which Mark's voice conveys. Thank you!

  • Kozalek spins the most seductive sadness..hard to explain. Anyway kudos on the video. Its a lo=budget masterpiece. The color alone makes it. The rythym and blending are masterful.

  • Everyone has their own vices (alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc..). My addiction is Mark Kozelek. I'm not exagerrating when I say I've listened to a SKMoon/RHpainters song EVERY single day for the last 5+ years.

  • es verdad, te estas muriendo

  • One day, this song will make me cry.

  • Saw them last night, Birmingham UK. Awesome sound. wave after wave.

    A real treasure.

  • i fucking love mark kozelek

  • You've got some great talent at making vids like this. Before i read that you created this, I thought that this was the official vid cause i had never seen it before. Real Good Job!!!

  • i love the video you did, ive always wanted to do a simular video to this...slightly different in my head but simular in a way...really enjoyed it. and the songs amazeing i love Sun Kil Moon!

  • i think ive listened to this disc 100 times since i bought it 2- 3 months ago.......cant get enough !

  • goin to Sun kill moon gig in september in Dublin, safe

  • Mark outdid himself on this album and though it's not his best it certainly ranks up there with them. I still like his RHP songs better.

This is a very well-made video, if somewhat basic.

I wish that Mark would make official videos!

  • kozelek is king of sad songs! always been/always will.

  • this song is about my town

  • There's a peace about the album, and in this song, I'm really glad to hear Mark being able to place Katy's death somewhere beautiful. He made the right move waiting for everything to calm down before singing about it. Best album I know from my favourite musician of all times. <3

  • i am so blown away by this album, and Moorestown moves me more than any song I've heard in years. So I'd really appreciate if you could expand on what it's about as you've got me really intrigued already

  • Katy was an old girlfriend of Mark Kozelek's who died of cancer a few years ago (after they were seperated). A lot of the album is about her. There's a recent Onion AV Club interview between Mark and Ben Gibbard which goes into this a lot. It's worth reading.

  • I double that, the interview is amazing! I've recently found out that Kozelek's playing a gig in Antwerp (belgium), I'm gonna travel there from The Hague (Netherlands) to go see him. I know it's a bit of a 'lookatme!i'mobsessed!'-thing to say on youtube, but I'm almost proud of it, so I had to say it ; p woohoo!

  • Who is Katy?

  • You should hang yourself

  • What you said.

  • i just went and read the lyrics to this song. it is absolutely devastating. one of very few songs to ever make me cry.

  • amazing song and a great video too

    thanks!

  • Love the video you made for the song. Very thoughtful like the song itself.

  • best song ever.

  • amazing song.. great video too.. really captures it, i think. such a simple video it just becomes part of the song

  • i think i like the live version best

    but holy hell

    this song is pretty

  • This tune is a back of the neck job, where does this man get his inspiration from, cant wait for the new album have 3 copies pre ordered, really cant wait.Intoxicating sound,Kozelek does it again.

  • Very much impressed; befitting of most beautiful song

  • wow. really impressed with this video. what program did you use?

  • I used Sony Vegas. Used 3-4 different layers of video (and pictures) at the same time to achieve the "effect".

  • awesome! i use sony vegas too, its great!

  • beautiful video. very nice work. if i may nitpick, though, you've got a couple lines of the lyrics wrong.

should be "Her dad's guitar sings open-tuned" and "Her eyes sad as a raven"

  • Thank you! They've been corrected.

  • I love these lines. The first one makes me suspect that perhaps he learned open tuning (or was first exposed to the style) from this girl's dad. A true song from the heart.

  • As is the case with so much of his music, the studio full band recording has less impact than his solo acoustic performances. I think it would have had more power if recorded with just an acoustic guitar . In the case of mark kozelek - - less is more.

  • As great as the song is, let's give some props to Katamai for a lovely video!

  • oh my god. just beautiful.

  • I cant wait for this album. I pre-ordered it from their website (and its autographed by Kozelek himself).

  • Same here. :)

  • you can get it online, its released the song Stereo

  • where's this version from? I have the one off Little Drummer Boy

  • It's from Sun Kil Moon's upcoming album "April".
