  • That's hard to do even with a regular stick.

  • Your facts r wrong Billy smith was the first goalie to score a goal dumbass

  • @Jizzinmypantswtf Smith was the first one to be CREDITED with a goal when a routine clearance of the puck hit the net off an opposing player.

The narrator as well as the uploader clearly states that Hextall was the first TO SHOOT AND SCORE an NHL goal!!!!!

Next time, get your facts right...dumbass.

  • @eclectica1 Smith was goal scorer its a hockey rule idiot

  • @MrPappa2566 You're the idiot for missing the point of what I pointed out. Get some intelligence, and try again.

  • @eclectica1 Yeah he didn`t shoot the puck in the net. So what? Where is the difference? You still get only one goal. Jizzymypantswtf said that Smith was the first goalie to score a goal he didn`t say he was the first one to shoot the puck in did he?

  • @MrPappa2566 Jizzymypantswtf said that Smith was the first goalie to score a goal. However, he ALSO said "Your facts r wrong", addressing the uploader, who said "the first goaltender to ever shoot and score a goal".

To simplify things: the uploader is correct about Fact A. Jizzy is correct about Fact B. However, when Jizzy said Fact A was wrong, Jizzy was wrong.

    Reading comprehension: try it sometime.

  • @eclectica1 Yeah I thought so

  • @MrPappa2566 You thought so? Well, believe it or not, but I actually DO have a life and don't sit in front of my computer 24/7. If you want to continue with this pointless exercise, do so by yourself because I won't be replying any more.

And you STILL missed the point. Don't stay angry all your life :-)

  • @eclectica1 I will get the last word! WORDDDDDDDDDD

  • When I think of Ron Hextall and hockey.. I think of Nipple Piercings. (See Related Videos)

  • terrible job managing the puck by the Boston D with an open net. Hextall probably practiced that shot 1,000 times in practice over the years. Epic.

  • dam such a boss

  • jacques plante scored back in 1952 or something

  • @TheBananaman380 However, before Hextall had done it, no NHL goalie had ever scored by actually firing the puck on goal. That is why this is so notable.

  • @AEMoreira81 so you're saying plante just dump it and it happened to go in OH YEAH i remember i read a book once and it said hextall was the first to score by shooting the puck in the other teams goal so he wasnt really the first

  • what a legend

  • I find that a bit selfish, but still a great goal. I say an assist would've been nicer.

  • @chelseafcfanisy Selfish . . . A goaltender has a Chance to be the first Goaltender in history to score a goal . . . And you say thats selfish . . .

I mean Being goalie, is the least Glorious position. You never get glamor for a win (offence does) and you get blamed with a loss. I think if your winning, and you have a chance take it.

    Its not selfish

  • Ragemanization fuck you you turkey humper ps that was his second get your facts straight

  • That was he only goal in that season... That guy sucks -_-

  • I remember this! And I'm a Bruins fan too. Damn it

  • @ocdwowen84 are you retarded?

  • Haha " the bad guys where bad bag again. " the gayest music.starts playing... Hahaha.

  • was that the announcer for 1000 ways to die at the beginning it sounded like him

  • HEXTALL 27

  • The son of a bitch was good early in his career.

  • @ocdwowen84 Try using a goalie stick (with not much of a curve, like Hex used back in the day), and attempt a shot into a goal from that distance. Trust me, it's not easy.

  • I love how the entire teams out there patting him on the head like he just got his 3000th caree hit

  • hmmm... i always thought billy smith was the first.

  • @movitmovit Billy Smith was the first goalie credited with a goal. A player on the other team accidentally backpassed the puck in his own net. Smith was the last Islander to touch the puck so he got the goal. Hextall was the first goalie to actually shoot a goal into the net.

  • @labarum312 thanks for responding. after posting my comment i did a search and learned about that. i used to deliver pizza to the hextall family. ron was there sometimes. really nice guy (off the ice).

  • Baah and Gus.........,Flyers swept? Ha.

  • Flyer rule and if u don't believe me suk my ballz

  • As a Bruins fan & mortal enemy of the Flyers! I HATE this clip, but you got to give the man credit.

  • @mamagrizz1 shh and watch your team loose tonight.

  • Loved how his teammate went after the puck.

  • HEXTALL GOOD OL CANADIAN BOY LOL LOVE HIM

  • You would have thought it would have happened before that.

  • In '94, Rangers beat Hextall & Isles 6-0 in Rd 1, game 1 at MSG. Next night, Hextall was on the bench & caught a puck that popped into the bench. Ranger fans, always classy, gave him an ovation. Great moment and of course, Rangers went on to win The Cup on June 14, 1994. Go Rangers !

  • This guy was THE 80's broad street bully.

  • The Islanders Billy Smith November 28th 1979 first NHL goalie credited with scoring a goal. Suck it Hextall.

  • @bm11720 To bad Like it says the first goalie to SHOOT a goal and score! This is still a bigger honor.

  • This game was aired on Philadelphia area cable channel, PRISM.

  • @Rlotpir1972 back in the day, we used to see stuff in the spectrum using a prism

  • HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

  • Half of you should take a basic English class. Nevertheless, go Flyers.

  • "Now before you guys get started I want you to know I was aiming for that corner."

    -Ron Hextall

  • Billy smith didn't shoot the puck into the net

  • epic

  • Billy Smith ......u flyer fans are fuckin retarded

  • I doubt Bill Smith "scored the first goal ever in the N.H.L." What league are YOU in? Smith played in the 70's and 80's. I think the NHL was created in the early 1900's.

Although he was credited with a goal as a goaltender , he didn't actually shoot the puck. The puck never even touched his stick on the play where he was credited with a goal.

  • Hex,you guys suck!...and Billy Smith scored the first goal ever in the N.H.L- - -what league are you guys in?

  • @dman6501 Actually, no, he was CREDITED with the first goal, but only because he was the last offensive player to touch it. He did not shoot at the net, it was an own goal, but the NHL credits the goal to the last offensive player to touch it.

Hextall is the first goaltender to shoot for the opponent's net and score.

  • @17thknight thanks for stickin it to that douche. it shouldnt even need an explination...

  • ron hextall was the first ever goalie to score a goal

  • that player picked up that puck asap, wonder if he kept it. lol

  • @Robertnuns he gave it to hextall

  • Hextall was cool goalie

  • They made history several times against the Bruins including this year's 3-0, 3-0 comeback...

  • Gene Fucking Hart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hexxy did this twice. love this crazy dude. go flyers!

  • @rezmoneynwkubs I remember both goals. Still can't believe it.

  • @rezmoneynwkubs FLYERS ALL THE WAY!!

  • fuckin sweet goal, and if you dont like the video cuz he scored on an empty net well take a look at all the other fucking goailes in the nhl, they cant even get an assit rather then a fucking goal.

  • @ACDCmetilicaSLIPKNOT assists are harder to get than goals

(most of the time) espeacialy for a goalie

  • @x30xSabresFan true but he was still a great goalie

  • ok now i wanna see a goalie score while the other goalie is still in net haha

  • Hey

  • And that's the Only thing Ron Hextall is remembered for. He sucked! He couldn't stop shit.

  • @devilsfan1986 He is most remembered for being a psycho.

  • @devilsfan1986 He won the Vezina

  • @devilsfan1986 wow, Hextall couldn't stop shit, spoken like a true devils fan, you have Brodeurs dick so far up your ass that you don't appreciate any other good goalies. BTW how was your playoff run this year? and last year? ooohh sorry, but yea the devils are great lol.

  • @mysteezyfooty no no

  • Haha einfach nur g3il

  • still get chills watching this lmao

  • im a capitals fan and hate flyers but when it comes down to it this is crazy and amazing

  • im a bruins fan, but this was EPIC,,, that was amazing

  • @IRONSEAN7

Also a Bruins fan and the better call is the Bruins broadcast. The late Fred Cuisak actually calls it moment before. He says, "One of these times, he's gonna score doing that!" Maybe the Bruins could get Hextall to play forward this year!

  • gotta love hextall. i bleed black and orange and seeing this video just brings a smile to my face =]

  • lucky shot :D

  • i love how all the flyers left the bench after hextall scored, did they get penelized for that?

  • Yes, a 2-minute minor for delay of game.

  • What video is this from?

  • phily all day!

  • look at that facial hair. BADASS

  • dick or not, he's ultra badass....he even has a band named after him!

  • ha yea, im not even a flyers fan, i dont dislike them, they are just kind of, there, but i will agree with you, and say Hextall was, no is one of the greatest goal tenders ever

  • KUDOS to you, the guy with -6 thumbs..

haha ur a dumb ass, who cares if he is a "dick......"

  • he was such a good goalie and look how he pretty much isnt wearing pads - the great goalies back then would be even better today, the behemoth pads take away from the position

  • so true

  • Hextall is awesome.

i go to school with his neice and his nephew.

  • Go Flyers

  • what ever man

  • too bad hextall was a crazy head-case!

  • fuck you. Hextall was awesome

  • thats what made his so great

  • umm.. hes a goalie?!?! duh!

  • pretty much all goalies are. he was just a little more.... expressive of it lol. GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!

  • is it just me who thinks this, or does that rink look kinda small?

  • it was the 80ths thing were smaller back then

  • 80ths

    ha, moron.

  • The rink is the same size, but the distance between the goal line and the end boards has changed a few times since then, which may cause an illusion.

  • if you are from europe, yes the ring is kinda small. if not, it´s normal size

  • Just thought I would let you know that your video info is incorrect. Hextall did not score in his rookie year of 1986-87. It was in his second year of 1987-88. December 8th 1987 to be precise.

  • Hextall>Brodeur

  • go wings!

  • I'll always remember Hextall for being one of the dirtiest, ill-tempered goalies ever.

And for being the type of little bitch who would chase an opposing goal-scorer around the ice, which he did when Ron Brown scored on him to make it something like 9-3 in a game against the Pens. LoL What a douche.

  • clhoyt1003 is oviesly a pens fan.Sidney is a dolphin for diving a horse for his freakishly huge teeth and a baby at 1 month for being a sissy

  • Locke789. Nice maturity level!

Go work on improving it before you make any more retarded comments. While you're at it, your spelling and punctuation could use a little work, too. LoL

  • You should talk! i don't give a poo about maturity level.WHAT ARE WE POKEMON! And if any one is a retard or has retarded comments it is you clhoyt1003!

  • Dont you remember CuJo or Crybaby Roy??

Your a douche for using LoL also..

  • Yeah, WILLEY. I remember those guys. Wasn't great fans of them, either. But Hextall was more of a punkass.

And you're a douche, just because you are. "LoL"

  • I dont like them either, Hextall was a punkass also.

But your still a douche for trying to use the whole "im rubber, your glue" thing.

  • what's wrong with cujo?

  • If DiPietro ever gets healthy he'll score a goal.

  • Ron Hextall has become the first player in the history of the National Hockey League to score a goal!

    lolz

  • Not entirely true. Billy Smith was the first goaltender to be credited a goal.

  • Billy Smith was credited with the goal, correct. The audio said though that Hextall was the first to SHOOT and score. Smith just happened to be the last one to touch the puck and was credited. Hextall actually shot it in. However, man I gotta say, I'm impressed with the fact that you know that. Take care.

  • oh I was just laughing at what the announcer said.

  • Ah, I didn't watch it with the audio. Sorry about that.

  • Hey there's my man Dave Poulin....

  • He has... SCOOOOORED !!!

  • Hextall is a stick swinging swine.

  • don't you hate when goalies do that?

  • i love it

  • Well, he just over does it. But its still pretty cool.

  • He didn't over do it his goals happened accidentally.

  • and there's a reason for the word douche bag and you earned it.

  • lol nice one

  • hextall is a lendend

  • hex tall is not a lendend. he is a legend.

  • i spelt it wrong big whoop

  • you didn't spelt it wrong, you spelled it wrong.

  • lol=)

  • Canucks1997 fails at english.

  • Canucks1997 is clearly 12. Way to make fun of a 12 year old.

  • Owned! :DD

  • HAHAHA! Owned

  • he scores

  • even being a bruins fan, i haveta admit, that was awsome

  • Hextall is the 2nd greatest in Flyer History. Bernie is #1. If Pelle didnt die Hexy would of rode the bench for ever.

  • If I were a goalie and scored a goal I would jump into the boards to celebrate.

  • Epic.

  • OMG!....Hextall had hair then....wow!

  • not that amazing

  • lol id love to see u score a goal if u were a goalie in the nhl

  • yeah dude stfu

im a goalie and in any league thats effing hard. all ive gotten are 2 assists

  • Nice!! :D

  • nice

  • pure awsome

  • hextall is one FANTASTIC goalie

  • 0:02

  • I remember that goal ,i was 15, and watching this game live on tv. We knew that it was just a matter of time before his first goal. He was so good with his stick, everybody was waiting to see it happens : )

  • where were you on long island that you think it smeels like that and im pretty sure you never been to jerusalem

  • Yes but he didnt shoot it. He needed help to get the goal. Ron just shot it and needed no help for it to go in. Because HEXTALL IS AMAZING.

  • i know i did not say he was not amazing I'm an islanders fan so i'm trying to get everything i can brag about them because there in last of this 08-09 season lol

  • screw marty go hextall

  • Islanders goalie Billy smith scored 2 goals as well

  • is any goalie score 3goal?????

  • nope, 2 is the most so far

  • by marty! (yes I like the devils...)

  • and i also think nabby did it too

  • yeah, Hextall got two also. one in a playoff game.

  • and come to think of it, Hextall got both his goals before brodeur was in the league.

  • yea, but brodeur got a game-winning goal! (ironicly, against the flyers)

  • oh really? well ironically, the "game winner", if you want to give that to brodeur, was put in by a pass from the Flyers defense. unless you want to count the goal that brodeur scored on himself, in the playoffs, against the ducks. then yeah, hes got 2...or 3...depending

  • yea, the replay showed that the flyers defense put it in their own net

  • i don't really count that own-goal really it was a goal by the ducks

  • VAGINA..lets go bruins

  • That goal was Hexcellent.

  • What the?

Hextall is not the first goalie to score a goal in the NHL, that honour goes to Billy Smith of the NY Islanders back in 79.

    What is this, revisionist history?

  • First to shoot the puck into the net. Billy Smith got credit for Rob Ramage putting the puck in his own net.

  • Right, right. I think Billy Smith just got credited with that goal because he was the last NY player to touch the puck. I stand corrected.
