I remember this, I was at my grandparents house and they had ESPN2 that aired the qualifying sessions on Fridays, we were all watching this when this happened and we were all kinda stunned. Thank goodness he walked away from this

I'll never forget this one. Ward was my favorite at the time (still would be if someone would wise up and give him a quality ride!) and my mom called me in to the living room, yelling, "WARD'S CAR IS ON FIRE!!!" I was getting dressed at the time and completely flipped out. I wanted to marry Ricky Rudd afterwards! (I remember Ricky saying his run over to Ward's car was better than his actual qualifying attempt!)

Oh my. I remember getting a phone call from Ward. I am southern but it took all I could to understand the man LOL. I would donate monthly to his Wildlife Foundation, so to say thanks, I got a phone call from him. This video is one of the worst kind of clips ever..... it's a Ward crash.

I've seen crash compilations on YouTube that have the footage of Rudd running and leaping the pit wall.

This isn't the entire clip. During the tail end of the crash, Ricky Rudd, whose car is in this clip (Tide #10) jumps over the pit wall and helps Burton out of the car. Pretty intense stuff.
