@de23nv45er You Sir, could also be called a noob. You do not need to shout at somebody to get your point across. Also, the SR-71 could not go into space, it just got quite close with a max. altitude of over 85,000 feet. Finally, it's maximum speed was only just over 1,900 knots, not 2,000.

How do you get the damn thing to hit mach 3.2? I can get it to mach 3, but the mach hold gets stuck at mach 3.0.

I read the flight notes and it said I needed to first set the KEAS to 352 then switch to mach and it would automatically put it to mach 3.2, but whenever I set the KEAS to 352, the mach speed lowers to sub sonic speeds! Flipping the switch doesn't work the way it's described that it should.

get to like 85,000 or 80,000 ft. (not sure check the cruising table or w/e) it goes mach 3.2 ive done it a million times. trynot doing a mach hold and throttle it urself. i did it a couple of times wit autopilot just not sure how. ill tell u wen i remember

@xclavex You must climb to 30,000 feet dip the nose accelerate to just over Mach 1 ie something like Mach 1.10 begin pitching upwards, but never let the airspeed go to far below 450 KEAS, all the way to 60,000 feet, when reaching 60,000 feet you can switch the autothrottle to Mach 3.0 and keep climbing. KEAS varies at different altitudes - 450 KEAS at 30,000 feet is slower than 450 KEAS at 50,000 feet, in the same way that Mach 1 at sea level has a different amount of knots as Mach 1 at 40,000.

There are two problems I have with this plane. The first and most troubling is the sound of the engine. Could've done a lot better with that. Second is the afterburners. The SR-71 was the only military aircraft to run on continuous afterburn, including running only on afterburn at high speeds/altitudes (a ramjet). This means there should be no on/off afterburner effects on this model.

I got to sit in a replica cockpit of an SR-71 in the dallas flight museum. It's a tiny cockpit for such a big aircraft.

Install them to C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/Gauges and Effects into C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/Effects and the aircraft to C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/Sim Objects/Planes (I think it's 'Planes' correct me if it's not). Well, actually in real life, the SR-71 has to get boosts by 2 other vehicles for a bit, on the runway. And then it takes off with a nearly dry fuel tank. Then it has to find an oil tanker plane and get more fuel to continue flying.

Quite a few people could actually. At my local airport Plymouth,UK (EGHD) Cuz its not a very big airport and the 2 runways cross each other 31-13 and 06-24 very often visiting traffic gets put on the turning circle of the 06 Runway because 31-13 is the main runway. When they need to start the aircraft up a GPU is taken down to the Aircraft, it is started, chocks removed, GPU taken back up onto the apron and it taxis up onto the apron to collect its passengers and to get ready to take off !!

You can put them in other aircraft, but it's very complicated and you have to actually place them as coordinates on the plane's axes and I have no idea how to do that, but I belive someone out there knows how to... Thanks for the advice. Your right about the coordinates, and I have gone to the forums, but when I looked at the Aircraft.cfg, it seems almost impossable to do, since you actually switch the lights on the aircraft; for example, light 18: -22, -4.2, 5.2, etc...

I'm the modeller of this plane, we made an FS2004 version and then updated it to be an FSX native plane - you can still buy the FS2004 version. Or buy the FSX native version made with the FSX SDK.

No, it'll fly that fast at lower alts, but I didn't want to make the vid any longer, so I couldn't pick up any more speed than I got.

The SR-71 and our AlphaSim SR-71 is not designed to fly at Mach 2 at sea level - the real thing couldn't and nor can our Sim version without it overspeed buzzing and losing control. We based our AlphaSim version on data from the pilots manual, so it should be flown by the book. The pdf manual that comes with it shows how it should be flown along with important airspeed data.
