  • OMG, I NEVER KNEW IT WAS FROM THE PRODUCERS OF 24!!!!!!!!!

  • which show is much better????sarah connor chronicles or this???

  • Lie to me.

  • Lie to me destroys Sarah Connor Chronicles.

  • Lie To Me = more Brendan Hines.

  • @ThatRabidFangirl Couldn't agree more!

  • well when we develop our telepathic talents we won't be able to lie to eachother, unless we learn how to block telepathic communication or block certain thoughts from others... yah

  • This is such a riveting show. Tim Roth is all kinds of awesome.

  • I love this show

  • Oops, I mean Doctor Lightman...sorry!

  • I saw the series premiere last night, and it was SO good! Too bad we can't all be like Doctor Likeman, a human lie-detector! Someone could really use that to their advantage! I give this show five stars! * * * * *

  • You can be like Dr Lightman, you just need to have the patience to learn about microexpressions and body language =] Google up Dr Paul Ekman

  • @NullSp3ctre Paul Ekman has said that the techniques in the show are fictional and that his method only adds 1% of accuracy for detecting lies...and he uses computers and software...he doesn´t just look at people and tell whether they are lying or not.

  • @Computerdisplay Where do you think they got a baseline to program the software to detect body language and eventually lies? Its not something a program can just learn on its own, obviously you need a person like Paul Eckman to distinguish a lie from the truth and even then a computer is never right. And I never mentioned the techniques of the show, simply meant if you had the determination and patience of the character Dr Lightman, it is very possible.

  • @NullSp3ctre and all I´m saying is that he is still just a character, and his abilities are fictional...it would be very ineffective to have someone attempting to apply his immediate observations of body language to make a case. You are right though...you can try (you would be wrong most of the time according to statistics though).

  • @Computerdisplay Detemination and Patience are not abilities, they are traits you have to work on if want them, thats what Dr Lightman's character has. Of course you can't learn from just watching a fictional character, you can only learn from your own observations which I have myself, each person do have tell-tale signs when they lie. And why would you follow statistics of probably one person in a controlled environment? Don't believe in gut instinct do you?

  • @NullSp3ctre I´m not talking about Determination or Patience...those I´m sure you can get (And are useful) But the "tells" you are talking about are also the "tells" for various neuro-muscular-related processes in the body, a lot of times completely independent from whether the person is lying or not. The statistics were reported on Ekmans book "How to detect lies". Gut instinct is undeniably there...but when it comes to the complexity of a lie...its quite ineffective.

  • @Computerdisplay No the "tells" I speak of are simple movements of ones hand, or the sudden raise of an eyebrow in mid sentence, not to mention pitch and tone of ones voice, the sudden twitch of an eye "could" be a tell-tale or it could be as you said a neuro-muscular-related process, but thats why you look for more than one tell-tale, simply looking at ones face won't cut it, playing a game of poker will show what I'm talking about, why do you think they wear glasses and speak very little?

  • @NullSp3ctre Even looking at many doesn´t cut it...you´re buying too much into the drama of the series, if you READ the books you´ll know how it really works and how the studies have been developed (for centuries now) you'll see how "the gut instinct" and the interpretation of "tells" is biased and not scientifically sustainable as a theory for practical detection of lies as its depicted in Lie to Me. Its not completely useless...just impractical.

  • @Computerdisplay How does what I just said in my last comment tell you I'm buying too much into the drama?? You have actually spoken to someone in person right? Or does a person of your intellect (I'm just assuming you are smart, unless you just copied and paste your information from the net) reply to a year old comment and just try to look for flaws in them? I think we are done with this discussion good day sir.

  • @NullSp3ctre holy crap!! I didn´t see this was from a year ago! sorry

  • This show is awesome!
