  • Fantastic song! I wish the closed-minded US stations would give this band their due. Never even heard of 'em until now.

  • Phantom Power is one of my absolute favourite albums. Fockin' brilliant!

  • i bet 300 of these views are me

  • A great song about a great songwriter. Has a whole new meaning, since the Travellin' Man escaped for good 13 years ago. Visited his grave a year and-a-half ago. It was a tough moment for me.

  • thanks for posting, I lost my Phantom Power and I always loved this one the most.

  • I remember when 103.7 the river played this album entirely when it first came out. What a great song. What a great station. Got replaced by a *%$ country station where I am. It was one of the few good radio stations that made it across the border to the states because it played REAL music . . . Canadian music.

  • R.I.P. Jim Ellison.

  • This is one of their best songs ever.

  • thank you hip..for hanging around. we love you guys.

  • Great song, Great sound, Great band

  • Currently my favourite song, love it

  • Great job! You've inspired me to make my own!

  • what a great song

  • Gordon Downie and the Hip are awesome!

  • This song is a tribute to Jim Ellison of Material Issue, who committed suicide on June 20, 1996.

    R.I.P.

  • @geofree1984

Seriously? I am a huge fan of the Hip (seen them 31 times) and that is news to me. It definitely has the somber tone of that being true. Thanks for sharing.

  • @geofree1984 Yep you are correct. Gordon met Jim Ellison while on tour, and later wrote this song in tribute to him after his apparent suicide.

  • I absolutely LOVE these guys!

  • One of the best song of all time!!

  • you yelled in my ear "this music speaks to me"

  • the albums these guys have put out are the soundtrack to thousands of Canadian's lives, and I'm one of them.

I never go on a roadtrip without a stack of their stuff on board. Canada's open roads were made for listening to these songs.

  • Agreed!!

No roadtrip without Gordie & the boys !

  • Some of us Amerks have been listening for a while.

  • love the band, check out Three Pistols if you're new to them. New album is great.

  • Agreed, the new album is

  • i know its such a great tune the first time i heard this was like 2 years ago when i was 13 it was like the best song i've ever heard in my life to come and to end.

  • Ahead By a Century did it for me, loved that song ever since the first time I heard it.

  • little bones, good

  • I want this song played at my funeral.

  • i guess i'm 2 slow

  • That's how I feel at the end of a hip show.

  • Awesome job !!

  • The story is great. You meet these people that are in exactly the same boat and you have a natural kinship. You say "Oh man, we gotta get together," you really hit it off, and then at end of the night you go your separate ways and continue doing your thing and probably never see them again. It's strange. But it's quite a common event, meeting people that you feel like you've known all your life, and then you really only know them for half an hour.

  • i sort of know wat u mean lol. no but seriously i think i do.

  • @blurrybigfoot74

    That is The Hip!

  • @blurrybigfoot74 -Bobby Baker

  • @blurrybigfoot74 Amen to that brother

  • Mos def one of my favorites of theirs.

  • Love this song.
