@YoussefFishere Same thing happened to me tonite - I heard this on Vanilla Sky and I figured it was the Stones but they don't get credit for it on the VS soundtrack so I caught the title at the end in the credits. Yeau, it's beautiful isn't it? Don't know if Mick Taylor is on it (will have to do some googling to find out if that's the case) but I can somehow see him in my mind's eye. It's got that Mick Taylor guitar sound to it. And thanks to the person who uploaded it :))

I never said I did not listen to new sounds, I do. and I respectfully thank you for the suggestion, I will probably like it. in your critique you have discribed it as "INCREDIBLE noise-pop music" I like those adjuctives. My point was I have not heard anything with "catchy" (the stuff that stays in your head. or melody ( a music theory term). New music can have those things. and is it timeless, alot of old stuff is not that and some new stuff is.

@thepixieful I'd say the last time the average for the charts (pop, soul, country, etc.) was better than mediocre was the 1960s. By '81, mainstream music was atrocious and getting worse. Even from Tattoo You (their last great album?) the tedious "Start Me Up" got the most airplay. "Heaven" was odd, even by Stones standards, reminding me of some kind of Tango (you're probably better versed than I am on that).

PS: Checked out Animal Collective: some brilliance cluttered with a lot of weirdness.

Tattoo You is an ok album, Start Me Up is the biggest hit on it. If you ask me (and yes, I realize no one is asking. Shut up.) the entire side B is GREAT all the way through:

1. Worried About You

2. Tops (Fantastic song!)

3. Heaven (You might already know this one)

4. No Use In Crying (weakest song on side 2, but still good)

5. Waiting On A Friend (You might already know that one, too, but a great song to close the album to).

that's right ! and i've read that Mick jagger did the guitar part. if so, i'm even more admirative for this genius, lucky guy to have such voice.

i can get close to this tone with a Saw wave chorus effect, but virtual one. i'd loooove to discover the rig he used. or at least, among all the chorus effects, one that has a nice linear saw waveform, not a sine. it gives a lot of power, without being a flanger. there's also a little echo, maybe a tape echo, but it's too short.
