Yeah You should use your pinkie BUT as my guitar teacher said when he noticed I play my A chord oddly if it works for you it ain't wrong and if he could teach Jeff Heally to play he must know something.

I do however have a hard time playing bar chords based on the A (C bar chord for example), I can play all the E based bar chords fine and the Am based chords. My point is, besides rambling that don't wait 20 years like I did to fix it or you'll find you can't!

I've looked into this now. I do use it to play chords when I need to, just not so much (if at all) when soloing. I will have to practise some scales or something.
