@1:21 that is the Hogan everyone wanted to see....The Hulkster vs The People's Champ......Hollywood Hogan died in this match and Hulkamania ran wild again.....Vince didn't create this moment and that is why people love this match.
Then have Austin come out to help rock. HHH wins title that night, next night on Raw austin and rock ask hhh to join them , he does. At backlash six man tag team match, HHH TURNS AND JOINS nWo. Next night they bring back HBK, HBK says he owes austin for wm 14, and that the WWE is going down, that the REAL BAND is back and the nWo could have dominated. Hall and Nash win tag team gold. HHH world champ. Hogan and HBK dont need titles. But no Vince fucked it all up.
Vince should have left the nWo in tact, So what if they got cheered, the nWo was the greatest stable of all time. Hogan, Hall, Nash, then HBK who was on his way back, then HHH, Xpac, Big Show, those 6 men right their vs Austin, Rock, Booker T, Undertaker, finally the nWo vs the WWE, the main Kliq with Hogan and Show as the nWo, this would have been so huge, but hell no Vince fucked it up, so what if Hogan gets cherred he had no right, Hogan and Rock shake hands, then the nWo destroys him.
as a fan of 27 years, i must say this is the greatest entertainment match of all time. No one can touch this. Hogan had it man, at the age of 51 look how he had this crowd melting in his hand. No one could work a crowd like Hogan. Heel or Face Hogan drew plain and simple. If this match was in the USA hogan might have not gotten as big of a pop but he would have gotten one. The issue i have is that they didnt even give the nWo a chance,. this reaction made wwe turn hogan back face

I once thought that the crowd would never get like this again... But they completely brought back the legend vs current champion angle with this Cena vs Rock confrontation. I can't wait till wrestlemania. I'm blessed to be able to say I'll be there in person to witness the clash of the titans. Mixed crowd and all.

I used to hate hogan... but watching this live... was the best experience ever. me and my friends went hogan wild. i still think they should have changed the outcome on teh fly and had hogan win. woulda been the best ending ever. the title match after this was the biggest yawner in mania history due to the energy this match took up.
This is what you will see when Undertaker goes against Triple H with Michaels as guest ref this WrestleMania. I don't think they'll get quite the reaction but none the less it should be amazing. Also I love that they actually mentioned Warrior... you'll never see that nowadays, mentioning a past star that was in your company that has no association with WWE.
your right i was wrong on the attendances, apart from wrestlemania 20 and 22 (18,500 and 17,159) the attendances havent been bad, around 70,000 mark. But i gotta disagree on the whole 100,000 bit. tbh i dont think wwe will ever reach that mark.

There are wrestlers who get by on wrestling skills alone (Benoit, Malenko, Danielson) and there are those who get by on mic skills alone (the Miz, Cena) but then there's Hogan who had neither which is confusing.

At 27 scecond, Hogan is litterly surprized the fans are completely on his side. He was built up as the ultimate vilain that year but the fans stood by him.
I bet the bookers weren't expecting 70,000 people cheering for Hogan. They can make anyone a face or heel, but the fans decide who they want to cheer for.

Look at the magnitude of this match. I mean, you're talking about Hogan and Rock, two of the greatest, if not arguably THE greatest wrestling has ever seen. You couldn't imagine these two ever stepping foot in the same ring and to see it actually happen at the time was mind boggling and it's just as special in hindsight.

He became a legend and icon in less the seven years the amount of iconic moments cant be compared his mic skills are the best ever oh and lets not forget he was top dog in the attitude era the most talented and competitive of all eras the era that took the wwf to another level ... just saying

By the way, Hogan is the basis of the new generation we known through the attitude era. Hogan opened the door for the others.
Hollywood Hogan mic skills were not that bad, Hollywood Rock mic skills were great but you can't forget what Hogan did for the business. He is the roots.
Hogan should have won for the business, for History, but The Rock won for the franchise. Sad choice from Vince but expected of course..

what you have to love about this match is the crowd, it was billed a regular heel vs face match yet both men were treated as faces and also how the crowd picks its sides throughout, at one point u have a hogan crowd, next its a rock crowd. never get days like this anymore, i mean an attendance of nearly 70,000! wwe doesnt even reach half of that for a ppv anymore :\

There are wrestlers who get by on wrestling skills alone (Benoit, Malenko, Danielson) and there are those who get by on mic skills alone (the Miz, Cena) but then there's Hogan who had neither which is confusing.

its funny, before this he had his wcw matches where he moved about as fast as a snail, he had cracked ribs, blown out knee, but for 15 minutes, he wasnt hollywood, he was hulk, and for me, this can never ever be topped, ya shawn vs old man taker, who in interviews before he was hogans age (check your wiki's, how old is taker now) said he would never wrestle when he was that age, streak, pfft, it always has been, and always will be, hulk hogan

I love how they changed rolls after the crowds strong reaction to Hogan. The Rock quickly became the heel of the match.

At 27 scecond, Hogan is litterly surprized the fans are completely on his side. He was built up as the ultimate vilain that year but the fans stood by him.

@BjGard No this crowd is pretty mixed straight down the middle. when the rock gets booed, you can hear a very big part of the crowd still cheering for him. just gotta listen.

@iSneakyCobra Are you deaf? This crowd is SOLIDLY BEHIND HOGAN, even when Hogan is using tactics and when Rock gets the edge, they're booing the mess out of him. Plus, they started chanting "Rocky SUCKS!!", which the fans hadn't done in YEARS, not since The Rock was in his early/Nation of Domination days.

@MCWAY1 He was actually booed out of the building at WM 17 against Steve Austin as well. The Rock was starting to loose steam in 2001. Right after the match with Austin he was gone til the late summer and when he came back he wasn't as popular as he was in the past.

@81pdmatt wm 17 took place in austin hometown of texas, this match took place in canada, canadains love hogan, so the only reason the rock was booed was because of the circumstances surrounding where the matches themself were being held

@marie90 The match being in Texas did make the crowd more in favor of Austin but that match and the match with Hogan could have taken place anywhere and I still bet the crowd would have heavily booed The Rock. And as for Canadians loving Hogan go watch his match in Toronto against Paul Orndorff at "the Big Event." Many in the crowd were booing Hogan.

Look at the magnitude of this match. I mean, you're talking about Hogan and Rock, two of the greatest, if not arguably THE greatest wrestling has ever seen. You couldn't imagine these two ever stepping foot in the same ring and to see it actually happen at the time was mind boggling and it's just as special in hindsight.

@ruffian333 I personally think that was one of the few last greatest and legitimately hyped matches the WWE has had. Of course, HBK vs. Taker 1 and 2 are right there as well. Notice how all the great matches involve the old school guys. These new age "sports entertainers" don't do it for me.

The Nexus' first apperance in WWE when they tore the entire Raw set apart would be the next closest thing. Shades of a new NWO for this decade, but WWE would "F' that concept up quickly. Nexus done in October.
