hi - thanks for the vid. Can a hand held emmersion blender (200 Watt) replace a food processor? Is it powerful enough to chop uncooked carrots for salad for example?
@coeliacus Emersion blenders do have the power to mangle carrots, it will not shred like a processor will. They are really made to blend at the bottom of container usually very hot soups. One thing they are good at is making low-fat toppings. Mix very cold low fat milk (Near freezing) with the blender starting at the bottom of a plastic or steel cup and move the blinder up as the milk whips. Add whatever flavorings you like, my daughter uses berries of all types.
For nut cheeses- usually a blender is used.. In general, a food processor is more often used for pates- that being said, I prefer to use a juicer, such as the Omega 8006/8004 with the blank plate for my pates. I like the consistency better... you can also make nut cheeses this way..
@rawfoods thank you very much! I try to eat them as raw as possible as nature intended, and don't make pates all the time, but sometimes I guess I get bored.
thank you SO MUCH for this VERY informative video. Have been considering the blendtec wildside but am not sure if I truly need it as my cuisinart blender works well for my green smoothies everyday and good value of around $60-80 for 3 year warranty.
I was always curious if making a raw macadamia or raw cashew "cheese" (cashew, red pepper, cayenne). or more importnalty, raw pates.
would strongly appreciate your views on this.
thank you so much for this, wish more raw talk on this, hard 2 find.
Thanks for this review. I use an old blender for only making powder from egg shells. The egg shell powder is then used as a soil amendment, or placed into acid soils that form in north facing low or no sun locations.
Thanks 4 the video John.Diagram explanation is outstanding!:)
I've learned the similarity between two units. While blending a banana+kale+lemon+ginger smoothie,I've missed a rubber gasket that stuck inside of my Cuisinart & blended it in.It chopped rubber nicely.Smoothie didn't go 2 waste - I was working on it slowly spitting small rubber chunks. Since then Cuisinart leaks & I use my food processor now. It's not as good, but it's OK.Can't afford Blandtec from your store yet, but I'm working on it.
Nice demo John. Those slicing and shredding attachments for the food processor are pretty neat. Now you made me want to replace my old food processor hah :)
Just found you a couple weeks ago and have been watching all your video's. I am learning so much!!!! Thank you for doing all these. So many of us out here want to learn and are feeling like we just want to be like spunges and learn all we can. God Bless, John!!!!
@SnowKitingVegan Thank you for that. The three places I found John is "Okraw", "Growingyourgreens", and this one which is "rawfoods". Does he have any more? His video's are so informative. I just sit there and listen and watch and learn!!!! Sometimes I can rewind and watch something a time or two to make sure I understand exactly what he is saying. He's an excellent Raw and Gardening Mentor I think. :-)
Excellent explanation of the differences.
