Sean put Ryan down like a sick kitten. In a post fight interview Ryan said he was out and that he was surprised it continued. Couture was landing more strikes on the feet but did zero damage at any point in the round. You can see the few strikes Bollinger did land caused significantly more damage. i have to agree.. He was the agressor, he showed the most Octagon control, and he sure landed the most strikes. Sure he got submitted right after the end of round two, but in my opinion i would also say he won, but a really good fight though.

Obviously the draw was given because of the controversy, The only last name to get a favorable decision that night was Bollinger.

i have to agree.. He was the agressor, he showed the most Octagon control, and he sure landed the most strikes. Sure he got submitted right after the end of round two, but in my opinion i would also say he won, but a really good fight though.

he did zero dmg to bollinger other than 3-4 leg kicks , he was controlled on the ground to the point he went to sleep at the end of the second round. throwing punches that are doing no dmg and not landing doesnt mean you win a fight. If you want to look at effective striking Bollinger actually did more damage with way less punches than couture did.

Watching the video, you can clearly see he raised his arm with 1 sec left, bell sounds, and he goes limp. Yes he was out, but it was clearly after the bell sounds. The ref never called the fight, he stopped it because of the bell. The fight went to decision, and it was clear Ryan won the 1st and 3rd round. Obviously the draw was given because of the controversy, The only last name to get a favorable decision that night was Bollinger.

@Rachner -he was out before the bell sounded. His body went limp and shifted downward because the angle of the triangle, causing his arm to flop downward. It made his made his unconscious state have a delayed effect look. Watch the vid again and tell me what you think.

jtmsl- you make no scene. If you are unconscious before the bell rings you loose (no matter who your dad is). It doent matter if you can answer the bell after you get choked out. Watch the fight again ryan tries to tap on his right leg then falls asleep BEFORE the bell rings at (6:03)

i thought couture was safe near the end of round 2 and just started the rest and recovery process a bit earlier looking much stronger in round 3 compared to his opponent

Bollinger clearly won the fight at the end of round 2. Just shows all the Rubber Guard haters the shit DOES work if you have the skills. If Bollinger had not gased he would have won the third round and the fight. The ref called the fight and then helped Couture to his feet, and to his corner before he changed his mind????

@fighttter1 Analyze the tape again, pal. Cotoure went out as the bell rang. If the fight went another 2 or 3 seconds longer, Bollinger would have won. I'm an un-biased MMA/BJJ fan. Both guys did great. I'm a fan of 10th Planet, I watch their videos alot and try to emulate the techniques in my own training, the bollinger neck tie is awesome!!!!

@fighttter1 Couture was out at the end of round two, so Bollinger did win the fight. but his Rubber Guard had nothing to do with it!!!!! The triangle he used was set up off of a scramble, something taught at any BJJ or sub grappling school. In fact, Couture just pulled out of his Rubber guard/Mission Control several times with ease. I'm not bagging on Bollinger or Eddie or 10th planet. But I don't like when someone claims a standard traingle, or any move, is from some a special system.

Well...this wasn't ecxatly a rubber guard clinic: Couture easily got out of the rubber guard.
It was first after the rubber guard attempt that Couture made a mistake and got caught in a CLASSIC triangle choke. Nothing rubber guardish about that. But the triangle was awesome, and I definitely think Couture was out.

OK, here's the thing. If you are asleep when the round ends, you lose. This is standard ruling, just ask Thiago Silva. It doesn't matter if you come to before the bell for the next round. That's a technical submission.
This is about as politically determined fight as I have ever seen.
