  • I work with young children with autism and I was truly thankful for this commercial the first time I saw it. It really makes the point that the general public considers autism affecting "someone elses kid".

1 in 110 that is your friends son. Or your nephew. Or your grandchild. Or YOUR CHILD. And some of the most intelligent, interesting, happy, sweet, loving kids I have ever known.

  • i love this commerical

  • A 0.09% chance. Doesn't seem so bad when you look at it that way, huh? Nice scare tactics.

Don't get me wrong, it's a real matter and I support it, I just don't support commercials like this.

  • @Bkid001 dont suppurt them then cuz they have done much. im autistic and i would join a cult and drink pigs blood befor i would support autism speaks

  • @jmegrl17 Haha, that's good to know. Also, I did the math wrong, it was 0.9%, which is still <1% chance. :P

  • @Bkid001 i figured that was a typo but i live in nj witch has the highest consentration of diegnosed autistic in the u.s. so that so here its most like exsactly 1 in 100 but still dont support them cuz they are a bad bad "charity"

p.s. im tired and to lazy to spell check sorry if you have trouble reading that

  • I hate this commercial, it's annoying as hell. Why are people making such a big deal out of it? Autism really isn't that big of a deal at all and I honestly have no idea why it's getting so much publicity.

  • @slackingstacker you have no idea what people with autism have imagine the feeling of never feeling quite into a group or being the odd 1 out i may not have autism but i have an idea of how being left out feels

  • @slackingstacker it's because bob and suzanne wright lost their grandson to autism in their own delusional world thinking it makes them look or act differently, but christian (bob and suzanne wright's grandson) will still have a chance to be able to live on his own be able to go to college or get married and it would be difficult but possible. Autistics don't need treatments or a cure! what we need is support and opportunity to be able to be able to have great independence.

  • @avidgames91091 amen.

  • @slackingstacker its getting publicity because of ignorant morons like you who only look down their own nose. Thinking something along the lines of "oh just put him in an institute he likes it there"

  • @TheDemonMonk I'm diagnosed with autism for your information, and when did I say anything about institutions?

  • @slackingstacker

Seriously? You're diagnosed with autism? That makes all the difference. I'm SO SORRY for offending you.

please give me a break. Autism has been hoisted up to this umbrella condition that encompasses everything from PDD and aspergers to real autism. Yes I said REAL autism. The kind my younger brother has. The one where he cant walk across the street without supervision. So forgive me if I have such an opinionated view. This is just bolstered cow dung spewed on the masses

  • @TheDemonMonk Ah, don't worry about offending me. You didn't.

  • @slackingstacker well since I don't have to worry about offending you then I could call you a blithering twit for saying that you have autism as well for simple general stupidity. I can understand saying such things to avoid explaining what aspergers syndrome is. however you just make yourself look more retarded. Autism is a big deal. It destroyed my family and put me in the position that I will need to watch my brother for the rest of his life.

  • The entire reason that the numbers jumped from 1 in 1500 to 1 in 150 is because the classification of autism changed. In the 1990's if you had PDD you where diagnosed with PDD. now if you have PDD your diagnosed with autism. if you have aspergers your diagnosed with autism. hell there are people in their 30's with speech impediments getting diagnosed with autism. any person that says they have autism as a defense for their OWN intellect deserves to take a long walk of a short dock.

  • @TheDemonMonk lol

  • @TheDemonMonk Sucks to be you

  • love this commerical

  • That's awesome, Mariska Hargitay is the speaker in this commercial. She's always supporting matters! I love her! <3
